I know neil from rush imports has been running 1uz supercharged for over 5 years with more then 300,000kms 15psi + no intercooler. no dramas.
Why did you do that? To gain the displacement? 1.5uz lol. I've heard of a 1.5jz but i didn't know anyone did the same thing to the uz family. You should do a website for it cause this is a pretty special car.
@Greave12 well i am not sure of anyone in your area that could do this. I typically do all my own work so I dont even hav eany shops in my area that I could recomend. Look me up on ClubLexusDOTcom and I will direct you to a guy that might be able to help on the 5 speed swap at least.
@Greave12 Then I would do a 5 speed swap and supercharger, you could probally almost pull it off for 6K. A centrifigal supercharger would probally cost less than a roots aor twin screw.
Well it isnt cheap, a better question might be, what is your budget then we can figure out what direction to go. The Supra 6 speed is a costly swap, a 5 speed can bee done for thousands less, really depends on how much you are willing to spend.
Don't get me wrong, I love the 2JZ-GTE and the 1UZ motors.
But you need to do some research and actually see how much technology was poured into the 1UZ. Both are similar in some aspects ( .5L per cylinder, DOHC, quad valves, etc)
Then you need to understand that the 1UZ is not just any aluminum block. Its construction is pretty much over engineered in similar ways to the 2JZ. And if you don't want 4.0L, get a 2UZ with 4.7L, which i assume Scott uses.
Same, I wasn't trying to start a flame war, just joking around. the JZ and UZ engines are probably my two favorite engines out there. I used to be the biggest I6 fanboy in the world when I had my NA-T supra, everything else out there just to be eaten by the mighty 2JZ, I loathed the V8 more than anybody could know, that was until I took a ride in a boosted 1UZ... :)
The only engine that sounds better to me than a JZ personally is the 1UZ!
I have to agree with your last line about the 1UZ sounding better than a 2JZ lol. 2JZ's sound great, but when you start to mess with 2 more cylinders, you can make things sound exotic :D
I want to build a TT-3UZ. i just know for a fact when i do, the turbo's are going to be fawking big....
1jz-gte track car which I plan to put big turbo on down the track. r154 manual :)
and
1uz-fze daily. Supercharged v8 for my daily :)
Both cars have been very reliable. The 1uz takes punishment!! Is my second one. My first one I overheated and revved out to 8,000rpm occasionally with 220,000km+ when I sold it she sounded sweet brand new like.
I expect no more then 200,000 out of the 1jz under track conditions to be honest.
more displacement is better and yes 7m 1jz 2jz 4a all have the G sufixe like 7m-gte the g means it has a wide angle valve (racing spec heads to flow more air) all G motors have there heads desiged by yamaha for better air flow so they are mostly really really over engineered 1uz is a lil less performance all the other g engines make close to 100hp per liter 1uz make way less but has more potential because there is replacement for displacement
F for economy and because they didn't want it to go above 206 kw. Rumours are that's why the manifolds are so restrictive on these, to limit the power.
1UZ -FE is cast aluminum alloy block, with centrifugal cast iron (gray iron) cylinders.
2JZ-GTE is cast iron block (thermal treated, it's vermicular iron, little better than gray) and the cylinders are same as in 1UZ, so potencial is similar, but 1UZ have more displacement, means that can reach same power with much less boost, and with forged internal 1UZ reaching huge potencial. So 1000bhp 1UZ needs less boost than 2JZ 1000bhp. Firmness of cylinders are the same in 1UZ and 2JZ
Doesn't the 1uz have 6 bolt mains. steel crack and connecting rods. hypereutectic pistons and 1uz is lighter then the 2jz. In any case I rate the jz family and the 1uz very highly in my view probably the best toyota motors made.
Yes it has 6 bolts, due to high stress to aluminum. American block usually using 4-bolts and also cross bolts so it can be compared to 6- standard bolts.
Nissan VQ series and UZ series using 6-bolt mains. 1UZ have all forged internals, and yes it's lighter than 2JZ, because the aluminum (2,7) have 3 times less specific weight than iron (7,85).
yeah but does the 2jz have forged internals? My 1jz is basically my track car because i know the jz series gets serious power quite easily and cheaply and with very little issues. My 1uz though I want to get 800,000kms out of it supercharged daily.
Yes 2JZ have stronger forged internals than 80% of all American engines ever made. Stock internals can hold up to 600bhp without fail. Engine block can hold 2.5 to 3 bars of pressure without melting.
I love my 1jz and 1uz. toyota did a really good job with these motors. I'm guessing the 1jz and the 1uz would be close with weight? Problem with the 1uz is the cost of modding it. Much less aftermarket support for it
1JZ (2.5 liters) is same as 2JZ (3.0 liters), except displacement, so weight is similar, maybe 1JZ little less weight than 2JZ, but 1JZ is clearly heavier than 1UZ, because it's also cast iron block.
probably because its different, i have a soarer with a 6 speed 2jz gte i havent heard one that has the same setup as mine... i did it because it was different so maybe that why , my guess
lol nice one dubviper, don't you just love when these kids who grew up with Fast and the Furious try to sound like they know what there talking about LOL!

I had 1uz with an g gearbox i think from a 1g motor. and I broke it but it was fairly easy to do.
I've got a 1jz coupled with an r151 and since the 1uz has a similar output I would say that would be fine. The box you have though better for supercharged and clutch dumping :)
Its a Tundra block, All forged internals, Oversized valves in ported 1uz heads. Custom ground kelford cams. I plan on throwing about 20lbs boost on it.
nice i have a na 300zx that i plan on doing a vh45de swap too its a shame that not many tuners know about this swap i mean to me id rather do this swap then any rb 2jz swap im kinda pissed cause the guy that can do the swap for me said i would have to run the turbos and all that from the back cause i wont have room in the front for turbos and piping so i guess i gotta sc the thing how much mpg do u get with a sc
I am selling the complete SC kit for 3700 shipped but it looks like its sold. The new engine will be totaly amazing! More CC's, lots more boost and a well built engine!

I know that, iron can endure much more than aluminum, but if you looking, 1UZ have 4 liters, 2UZ 4.7 liters, 2JZ 3 liters.
It's all depends about used materials and excellent engineering.
Power potencial also depends about displacement and expensive materials.
2jzgtejza80 2 years ago

Yeah expect you're forgetting that 1uz is forged alloy which is much stronger then cast iron.

would a w58 be easier to stick behind the 1UZ? i was thinking about buying a sc4 just to make it a 5spd (or stick period)
