Slim Harpo was influenced by JIMMY REED not Buster Brown. Both Jimmy Reed & Slim Harpo were about the same age and both harmonica rack-players who played guitar at the same time. They both wrote their own songs. They did not play the harp and mixed it with a hollering.
I think Buster Brown had that in common with Sonny Terry plus the raw vocal style where Slim Harpo was a rather smooth vocalist.
@Triggerman5o 7? this song is a lil' more popular than that. There is a reason they were called "standards". Everyone did them. Everyone had their own version of every song. They were singers not songwriters. The songwriters wrote the songs and the singers sang them and we didn't have to listen to the bullshit that our wonderful songwriters of today wrote. Like Christina Aguilara. See... 50 years ago she could just sing. Today she has to be a cowriter to make her money... and we all cry
just to prove that the 50's were really rocking!! Thanks for posting this - My original must have disappeared in the mist of time and truth to say - i'd forgotten how great this record was. The fifties knock the sixties right out. This is real roots stuff,
Dude, you ruined this song

Oh yeah! This type of music just makes me want to strut. All you talentless pop artists should just go to hell and stay there. This is real music.

the closest beside Elvin Bishop's version, that gets close to becoming a Rock n Roll sound rather than the old blues tune that it is.

I got Fannie Mae second hand from a car boot sale, and this is what's on the b-side. Love this version of the song, it's got so much energy!

@pontiacgpuk ....except this song is from 1960............

@pontiacgpuk This is not the original. It's a 40's song so this is actually a remake. The original by Louis Jordan is good too! :-)
