I completely disagree. Its not only far too homey, its not systematic enough. Americas schoolsystem, as I've heard is flexible, and I think that flexibility might rob children of a thorough education that shows one the roads open. A flexible education gives options to students who are too young for them.

I'll have to agree that the video is a little vague. I'm not really sure if I understand the purpose of the competition. However, I do agree that a style of learning that teaches the students to be more self directed and self motivated would be an improvement over the existing education system we are using. That concept has intrigued me ever since I first studied about the Montessori method in college. It encourages children to learn more productively rather than simply memorize & move on.

This isn't a very large school and seems an impractical design for anything much larger. My guess is that this "school" is a group of families who advocate a form of homeschooling called 'unschooling," especially given the terms they use like "self-directed" learning. I can see how this design fits their learning concepts.
