Way to go Shaolin monks! 4:20 - 5:10. They forgot about the part where both the southern and northern temple was burned to the ground and entire monks killed on sight and had to take refuge for helping with the revolution. Did you forget why they were hunted and killed?
@systemsevil Aha and that's where the concept of "empty your cup" comes in. One guy starts basically from a scratch and the other guy has lot of experiences so of couse guy with experiences will have harder time adapting to the new styles of fighting since his experiences tend to block new things coming in.

8:45, the QI should do not go to the fists but rather in the stomach where you figuratively store your energy. it would be really hard and took a longer time if you try to understand kung fu "externally" first.
Its BULLSHIT how he broke the piece of metal on his head. If you get a metal ruler (which is much thinner than what they used) and wacked it on a brick wall with all your strength it still wont break.
Do you want to know how they did it?
They cut the metal rod in half 99% of the way through, but leaving 1% to keep the pole intact. Then all the monk had to do was to break that 1% on his head I saw it explained on a magic show where the magician 'broke' a piece of metal with 2 fingers.
@BabysFace Dude, different alloys have different hardness/elasticity. This particular alloy simply had high hardness but low elasticity. Some metals you can tear apart with little effort (pure gold for example). Why didn't you mention that? And the guys on Fight Quest picked up and confirmed that the iron was real (as well as several other documentaries). You're comparing magicians to martial artists?!
@FoieGras I didnt mention that because we're assuming the metal is iron. If it was made of a metal that can easily be broken than that will defeat the purpose because anyone will be able to break it.
So either its made of iron that was already cut beforehand, or it was a soft metal that anyone can break. Happy?
@FoieGras Nope its nothing more than a magicians trick. Look at it 3:07 how he is lightly tapping the rod to show it's intact. If it was really strong, why is he tapping so lightly? This trick was done exactly like how the magician did it.
@BabysFace When he was clanging the bars together? How is that proof for anything? You want it to make a bigger sound? Well, actually there might be proof against it. If there was a crack, the pitch would be lower. And as mentioned before, the people on Fight Quest confirmed its strength by actually holding it. Exact words: "Yep this is real iron...It hurts"
@FoieGras And why go through all that physical training, starts at 4 am and ends at God knows when? It would take a lot more practice w/ illusions if they'd want to put on a magic show. The performing of feats are just modern Kung Fu show, but the feats themselves are no joke
@FoieGras Of course the people on fight quest would say that... they have a show to make. You think they would ever say "no its fake and it doesnt hurt" on their show?
But now I've just realised that youre a nationalist which is why you will refuse to believe its fake even if its still very possible.
But anyway you still cant deny that their 'best' champion was almost beaten by someone who had a week to learn their martial art.
@BabysFace Yes, it's possible, but their words still hold more weight than yours when they actually held the piece of metal in their hands esp. when you go by "omg, they clanged the metal lightly together; that's why it's fake. And that just came out of nowhere "I'm a nationalist." You're just pulling things out your ass now. Do you know who is the 'Best' Sanda Champion? Liu Hailong also dubbed "conquerer of Muay Thai."
Look up his fights! What about MMA? They even beat the guy! Plus these are monks, not Sanda fighters.
But that doesn't even have anything to do with the issue at hand. The issue is whether the metal bar is fake or not, and there are several documentaries confirming that it is real. What would you need? Someone to mail you the bar and see if you can break it? Well try doing it with a wooden board or beer bottle to see if it's easy as you say
@FoieGras Of course the documentaries will say its real, the whole point of their show is to show the martial art style is so good. They dont ever say how this martial art is flawed do they? So youre only believing its real on the weight of their words.
And I was talking about the fight at the end of the episode. The guy on Human weapon nearly beat him and that was using their rules.
@BabysFace No, documentaries are supposed to provide impartial judgment. Yes, there may be biases but at least they held the metal. Your judgments are ALL bias. So you're not believing based on NOTHING.
And I said that these aren't the best of the best, maybe best learning. Otherwise, MMA people would beat these guys as well. Don't get me started on Kyokushin. If it was a real champion there, it would only take one hit. What I was talking about is IT HAS NO RELEVANCE TO IRON BEING REAL OR NOT
And let me remind you it is MULTIPLE documentaries. The point of documentaries are for knowledge, not biases. You might as well scrap most of history book you've ever read because they're even less reliable (they're written by people who were part of the system). At least here, the documents are from outside sources. If the iron was fake, I would think that they would have tried to avoid the issue altogether, but they brought it up themselves
@FoieGras But if you were really unbiased you wouldnt say its definately not a fake.
And they said that school only takes the best across china, and their 'champion' had won the finals 3 times and was one of the most promising fighters of this generation with 4 years of training, the human weapon guy had 4 days!!!
What of it? Many styles on Human Weapon that had the same problem. It may be an issue of the other guy having experienced a similar style for longer periods of time (he is a pro fighter vs an amateur afterall). Hell, he may JUST be BETTER at it. There are after all geniuses at certain things. Are you trying to prove something? Since it STILL has NOTHING to do w/ the iron, no matter how hard you try to make it relevant.
@BabysFace Again, talking out your ass. I definitely did not say anywhere. I even said that it was possible 5 comments ago. Even if I did, it's still unbiased since it's a hard opinion not a soft one. Having unbiased opinion means you evaluate all evidence fairly and make decisive conclusions, not sugar-coat your position. You're only addressing issues that are convenient to you, and you're only looking at arguments that are convenient to you. THAT is bias.
@BabysFace They tapped it lightly because they dont need to proof shit to idiots like you. Everything you saw there was real. They have the power to break bricks WITHOUT cheating. They have the power to break your skull without much effort. You dont have to believe it but it sucks to be you.
@politie210 I'm speaking toward my Beliefes If it wasent to affend thats what I Believe system is and any one who agress with me U could of said no & I would Respect that But I wouln't agree with U and U Would Respect it goes both ways DUDE
@Tawalisi They have managed to defend themselves over the years, that gotta count for something... But the outcome may change if you start putting up boundaries like in competition... And if they can break a piece of steel with their head they gotta be able to take a punch or two plus they are extremely fast moving... also I didnt mean for it to be taken completely seriously. Either way I would love to see a shaolin monk against a karateka or TKD practicioner...
@Tawalisi ummmm that's because they are monks, they live for peace, which is kinda hypocritical in a way, but they are shaolin monks, they are religious figures, why would they want to fight in the first place? it's just self defence, not picking on a fight nor to prove he can beat up someone better than some other guy.
@Tawalisi ummmm that's because they are monks, they live for peace, which is kinda hypocritical in a way, but they are shaolin monks, they are religious figures, why would they want to fight in the first place? it's just self defence, not picking on a fight nor to prove he can beat up someone better than some other guy.
foie gras your so wrong can you not listen the bandits came into the temple allready knowing martial arts and shaolin monks were defensless then the indian guy taught them martial arts it never said he tought the kung fu
@aj104aden Hit the reply button next time. Boddhidharma (your aforementioned "Indian Guy") taught them breathing techniques and perhaps some martial arts, but if you look at Shaolin; it's thousands of techniques. Do you think it's possible for one guy to develop every single one? Plus there were weapons inside the temple before he arrived, which is evidence that the monks knew their own stuff beforehand.
oh, by the way, the metal breaking thing are so often misunderstood. The monk breaks metals not because of their strength or how tough their skulls are, it is utilizing their Qi. So if you ambush an unsuspecting monk, you can still hurt him.
Bodhidarma did not introduce kung fu. The only book that says that is the ming dynasty edition of the book Yi Jing Jing which has been proven to be forged and not historically accurate.
Boddhidarma teaching martial arts to Shaolin is not true. as Kung fu existed a thousand years before the shaolin temple was built. In fact, centuries before boddhidarma, two monks Senchou and Huigang and some other's introduced kung fu to the temple as they were former imperial soldiers.
every single fucking episode jason has to always say, like in part 3 of this episode, we could feel our techniques getting stronger, they were put through absolutely no training, so dont try to pretend to be a master
all martial arts are effective and have something to teach you and when it comes to mma that means mixed martial which in my opinion mean a combination of martial arts go learn all you can
most mma fight emphasis too much on bjj, muay thai kickboxing and wrestling, this is why when machida threw in his karate shit, he's undefeatable.actually,in my opinion, the concept of mma is not necessarily good,i mean after all it's hard enough to master just one MA
You also have impurities that make it more brittle (and reinforced). There's also something called plastic deformation for when the ductile metals go passed their elastic coefficient and break. Typically, though with metals, you want some elasticity to be strong, but too much is impractical. You need something beyond general chemistry to get the entire picture.

This has probably been stated many times before but shaolin monks are just the biggest badasses ever.

Wonder if the camera man had to wake up as early as the monks, Bill, and Jason.

foie gras your so wrong can you not listen the bandits came into the temple allready knowing martial arts and shaolin monks were defensless then the indian guy taught them martial arts it never said he tought the kung fu
aj104aden 2 years ago 7
@aj104aden Hit the reply button next time. Boddhidharma (your aforementioned "Indian Guy") taught them breathing techniques and perhaps some martial arts, but if you look at Shaolin; it's thousands of techniques. Do you think it's possible for one guy to develop every single one? Plus there were weapons inside the temple before he arrived, which is evidence that the monks knew their own stuff beforehand.

Oh man that attack speed of those monks, really freaks me out! Looks very powerful too!
waibaitui 2 years ago 27
lol, he is no real champion. the real shanda wang would completely destroy him.

I am pretty sure the monks back then could take out any human being with single strike.
supertarzan12 2 years ago
what about monkey kung fu?! geeez
mrdavidpatrickcase 2 years ago
maybe they should go to new york to study kung fu instead of shaolin.
zhi1984 2 years ago
oh, by the way, the metal breaking thing are so often misunderstood. The monk breaks metals not because of their strength or how tough their skulls are, it is utilizing their Qi. So if you ambush an unsuspecting monk, you can still hurt him.

13 monks owned an army? thats fucking badass!

The video breaks could have been edited better. This is a suggestion for future reference and not a complaint.

0:13 neat eagle claw, it looks different from north and southern style but still very graceful
Wolfsbane909 2 years ago
Bodhidarma did not introduce kung fu. The only book that says that is the ming dynasty edition of the book Yi Jing Jing which has been proven to be forged and not historically accurate.
Boddhidarma teaching martial arts to Shaolin is not true. as Kung fu existed a thousand years before the shaolin temple was built. In fact, centuries before boddhidarma, two monks Senchou and Huigang and some other's introduced kung fu to the temple as they were former imperial soldiers.

every single fucking episode jason has to always say, like in part 3 of this episode, we could feel our techniques getting stronger, they were put through absolutely no training, so dont try to pretend to be a master

all martial arts are effective and have something to teach you and when it comes to mma that means mixed martial which in my opinion mean a combination of martial arts go learn all you can
watupnigganigga 2 years ago
most mma fight emphasis too much on bjj, muay thai kickboxing and wrestling, this is why when machida threw in his karate shit, he's undefeatable.actually,in my opinion, the concept of mma is not necessarily good,i mean after all it's hard enough to master just one MA
yooutubename 2 years ago 4
mma is sorta one martial arts it just combines the best parts of wrestling jiut jitsu and muay thai.

Metal??? He can break metal like this??? metal is ductile materials isn't it?
tunderman66 2 years ago
yes they can break metal they break iron but not steel. iron components can be break more easy
cityx2007 2 years ago
yeah, I guess so, iron is brittle material in my impression, but my chemistry book told me metal is ductile material.
tunderman66 2 years ago
You also have impurities that make it more brittle (and reinforced). There's also something called plastic deformation for when the ductile metals go passed their elastic coefficient and break. Typically, though with metals, you want some elasticity to be strong, but too much is impractical. You need something beyond general chemistry to get the entire picture.
