The Child support agencies cannot convict for indirect contempt according to the Bench guide, so they pay the DMV to do their dirty work. There's no certified list and how can a corporation be prosecuted for perjury when a corporation will never testify? Without that prior, its an unlawful suspension to convict for a non criminal act. Trust me though, that doesn't mean it won't happen. 14601.1 for other reasons will include, not putting out the trash, or paying your student loan, or your cable bill. Reasons are a plea agreement, not child support. Good lawyers know this.
@CALI2TEXBOY then you will have to throw yourself on the mercy of the court. Presenting mitigating factors and negotiating with the prosecutors in court may help you get the minimum punishment, instead of something worse.
He only says it's "Serious crime" because a LOT of people who are caught driving on a suspended license it will NOT be there first offense or first run in with the law! Driving on suspended license is bad mkay because if you have have a accident your insurance probably won't cover you, but a first offense with zero criminal past history is not much to fear... with a good lawyer!
Child Support and suspensions is a direct conflict of laws and it doesn't work. Why would someone drive suspended when the terms of suspensions are clear.

@anewgift4u, the Department of Child Support in California doesn't always successfully give legal "notice" of arrears or hearings, so not having due process, or at least notice, may cause suspensions without knowledge. The terms of a suspension are not always clear. Sometimes, but not always.
Here in Massachusetts we have something called a CWOF which basically means a not guilty verdict and after say 60 - 2 years your record is sealed I see that a lot for driving on a suspended license but the actual penalty is MA is:
Up to 10 in jail and/or Up to a $500+ for 1st offense
Possible sentence of 60 days - 1 year in jail subsquent offense
Mandatory 60 - 2 1/2 years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine if you lost your license due to a OUI and were convicted of the OUI
@SmokingEssy7887 also if your license was suspended in Massachusetts because you failed to pay speeding tickets, you usually go to court pay the tickets then they dismiss the charge
