I think you needed to watch Minder when it was first shown to fully appreciate it - during the turbulent and exciting Thatcher years.
The remake was diabolical trash i think there is this consensus remade stuff can be better or something but like recent films it has been proved wrong. Then again it's all about finding ways to make more money out of franchises.
Thank God they've cancelled that awful nonsense masquerading as Minder on Channel 5. Shane Ritchie is a disaster. Made a film that didn't break even, he even financed it. Don't forget the lyrics on Sky 1 is about as memorable as he is.
