I don't doubt some wild rodents may taste 'good', if you like a gamey taste. I was more concerned about the diseases they can carry. Yes; I've gutted squirrel, rabbit and chicken. I prefer rabbit over squirrel and chicken over rabbit. However; I will never eat squirrel, again, not even with squirrel gravy. Squirrel is a 'powdery' meat, and even gravy doesn't help.

I'm not gonna tell you that I take the life of every animal I consume, but doing so when I can has given me a much greater appreciation for food and it's true cost. Unfortunately, while a lot of people could easily get their meat from local farms, they just don't. The supermarket is closer and cheaper. I'll shut up now.

@Fisherguy28 rodents rarely have rabies, although they can carry other diseases. internal parasites would be more of a concern. thus why they should be well cooked.
although there is natural selection going on and sick animals will die or fall prey. sick animals are often apparent at death and dressing. look up common infections and parasites of the species you wish to eat.

All animals ( and plants) are designated foods for one animal or another...death is a part of the life cycle we can't survive without killing something...take a tour of a slaughterhouse sometime and you will certainly change your mind about cows
