i have the exact same fourwheeler that made the exact same noises! i took it to the shop and found i out it was a piston slap, i had to get the bike bored out with a new piston and all new rings and ceals! now it runs like a dream!
all older hondas have a little tick to them arnt they supposed to i mean not that bad but there is a little ticking sound all the ones i ever seen did anyways including my own 04 350
hi did you find out what was wrong with this as i have the same quad but a 2006 and it does the same and i dont really know alot about engines and also is your oil in it the right colour as i got water in mine at it went white ever since it has made this noise
When you thrash the Fourtrax they have been known to jump the timing chain off. and then well valves and things get stuffed. do you ride it very hard???
@TeamVodafone888And88 I ride hard on occasions, sometimes going as far as over 50, but not for long of course. I take care of the engine. I change the oil every 3,000 miles (as reccomended). But these machines are meant to be rode hard anyway. It's made this sound ever since it was brand new out of the box. And, these engines have timing chains? I thought these engines worked off of pushrods.
they have small chains, you have to take the front of the motor apart to get at it. almost all hondas make a low ticking noise all of the time, but this is baddd
@cattrax320 I have 6,400 Miles on mine. I'm not sure if you know how much that is, because you go by Kilometers. But mine has been rode hard also and it still purs like a kitten.
@Resinat0r No loose bolts. I know lots of people who have the 350 fourtrax and their's do the same thing. Every 350 I have ever seen does it. I'm clueless as to what it is. But the engine runs perfect, it's just a loud noise at 40 or over.
that motor dosent have a cam chain in it its got push rods. soo its not the cam chain
