Just download them via the youtube downloader app if got poor net or cpu performance. Then its just a mp4 which runs fine on a 7 yr old (good) laptop.

Only thing that still could be better is the audio, wich is only 160 kbps mp3 in HD mode I think (the compression is a little disturbing on good recordings anyway)

If you have a standard deff camera, I have yet to discover this. But this video was already a HD video. Shot with a HD camera. So the file I uploaded was already in hd!

if you are recording your own. your camera needs to be at least 720p HD. Normal cameras wont do high definition.

It came as a HD 720p WMV file. Upconverted SD files are not "propper" or "true" hd. they are just made to look better on hdtvs and youtubes new hd freature can use them too.

ok i have a little camera that sucks i converted it .mov HD 1280x 720 and it was widescreen and it had a watch in HD button and it worked but it didnt reall change quality at all is that because my camera

Yeah it will be, sorry to say, but unless you have a HD camera your never going to get "real" hd quality. I have done the same thing and it was never as good as a real hd video from a hd camera. I have a little sony handycam that records in SD widescreen.

That looks really cool is you have auto HD in youtube but if you add &fmt=22 it messes it up

Hi UbuntuOwns2228. Playing this back using "&fmt=22" is much better than using the "higher quality" setting. Its a new feature from youtube. I think when you tried it the video had not prosessed fully. Give it another go?
