I'm so glad to see someone still having this tape to share omg I was like 13 when this happened. The great times of boilermaker basketball! May the memories never die!
Quit hating on Purdue. Yes, Michigan's a better school and has a better sports program (when they don't get caught cheating at least), but this particular day my Boilers gutted out a win despite being outmanned.
Awesome video. I remember watching this when I was 14. I was playing a middle school basketball game and someone's dad had brought one of those portable TV's that you could carry. Anyway, we all stopped in the middle of our warmups to watch Big Dog make that running jumper at the end and half the team exploded while the other half sulked (there were a lot of IU fans at my middle school.
Anyway, thanks for posting it. I still have my gold #13 jersey.
Do u have the intro 2 the game??...I'm talking about the one Raycom used in the 90s with all the sports showing and the words "RAYCOM" flying across the screen.
Big Dog was the best College Player I have ever seen....and he did make 2 Nba All-star teams the guy could just flat out score. I forget how great of an athlete he was when he was younger. In the Nba toward the end of his career he mostly just scored with his deadly mid-range J...
living in indiana (indy area) i remember watching games like this on channel 4. of course now we the big fuckin' ten network. another way for the cable companies and jim delaney to blik money out of the fans.
Watch this again... and tell me was King shaving points??? look at his play in the last minute... Throws up a three with a minute left, when they could have run down the play clock... fouls Robinson and doesn't even attempt to not let him get the shot off... then "misplays" the pass from Rose at mid-court letting purdue take the lead...
Purdue is a great school for engineering and the campus is all in walking distance. The people are nice, and the atmosphere is great. The campus is divided from the main city by the Wabash river, so the campus is very centralized. Unlike Michigan, for example, where you probably have to take a bus to your next class. Purdue's great.
@WhatIsDot "Purdue is a great school for engineering"
Michigan's better.
"and the campus is all in walking distance."
So what...
"The people are nice, and the atmosphere is great."
So what? and Michigan's is better.
"Unlike Michigan, for example, where you probably have to take a bus to you next class."
Not true. Only if you have classes on central campus and on north campus, which is rare... and who cares? You go to a school to get the best education and to do the best research.
@WhatIsDot Purdue University is also a huge university. Not every class is in the next building and it does take time to get to the next class just the same. And the people are also nice in Ann Arbor-UofM.
Actually he didnt dissapear in the NBA..he went to a small-market team in Milawaukee that a lot of people didnt see. After switching teams a few times he just left the game and didnt formally retire.
Thanks for posting this! I was on the East Coast and missed being switched to the end of this when Syracuse/Georgetown went into overtime. I remember seeing 94-92 and then 95-94 and yelling "Glenn Robinson hit a 3!"
I found later I was wrong but I didn't mind.
Seeing the whole clip was worth the decade-plus wait.

Robinson walked on that last bucket with about 6 seconds left. Should have been wearing hiking boots he walked so much.

"A big time play from the biggest time player in the Big Ten Conference." Wayne Larrivee at his best.

Purdue is in West Lafayette - which is a separate city from Lafayette - not the main city. Not sure what you're talking about here.

I was at this game and left early thinking it was over. That was foolish.

When is the replay of this game on the greatest big ten games on the Big Ten Network?
I have been a loyal Purdue basketball fan for over 25 years. This game is best all time, although many IU - PU games are close second.
MrGelhs204 2 years ago
@MrGelhs204 No shit. I've been thinking the same thing. They've replayed a lot of games from this Purdue team but not this one? In time I guess.

Was Gene Kady the head coach of Purdue during this season?
daughtryfan458 3 years ago
Yes. That's him on the sidelines and running off the court after the win.

This was the game where Todd Foster checked into the game late and Jalen Rose said, "Man, who are you? You weren't even in the scouting report!"

Wayne Larrivee was probably doing Purdue games when I was in diapers and probably will be still someday when my kids go there

1.) Big Dog was the most complete player in Big Ten history.
2.) Purdue needs to bring back those UNI'S!!!!

what a choke job by Michigan. Shooting 2 3's when not needed and then throwing the ball away. Great comeback by Purdue....
