  • great work!!!

  • It sounds like Bob Log playing a steel body - that's a good thing tho

  • Very nice cover. And the sound is just right and very well balanced between treble, middle and bass. You can often hear resonator guitar that sound too agressive or too trebly, here is perfect, thanks to your touch I believe also.

  • I dig how you copy Johnson's style down to the T. The resonator adds a lot. I applaud you sir.

  • This sounds real good, bro. You've got it down. I'd sing it for ya if you lived in Jackson, MS!

  • that was crap. no offence

  • @ericcrook16 I hope that was a sarcastic comment. This is one of the best RJ replications I've ever heard. That's a hard thing to do considering the low quality of his recordings. This is a DAMN FINE JOB!

  • buy the hal leonard tab book, theyve mapped out all the notes and intricasies that make this song sound so good

  • HOLLY SHIIIT YOU ROCK ITTTTTT

  • bad ass baby.....wish you'd scream out a note or two but that's shit hot git!

  • nice

  • that strumming bit is what everybody misses and yet is so key to Johnson....it;s so hard tho. If you don't play fingerstyle, this is as good as it gets.

  • damn...

  • fantastic man!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow!!!! This is really the best version I've ever seen! I'm trying to play this but it's so hard... :(

  • sweet, i'm learning to play this right now. you can wail on that slide man. lets hear you sing it too?

  • NICE!!!! ur spot on!!!

  • The best preaching blues vid i've seen. Anyone knows where to get the tab?

  • HOLY SHIEZENBURGERBACON.

  • im going with open D, probably a 1/2 step up the way it gets distorted on Johnson's record, but open D sounds swell

  • what tuning is this in?thanks

  • this song was made back when music was still music and it required talent to be gain someones attention and respect long enough to listen to your music. I just wanna say I am very impressed and you did a great job and youre white lol jk.

  • Anyone who can play this song period deserves to be seen

  • It's so rare that you stumble on great guitar playing like this on Youtube. This just made my day.

  • nice guitar! and nice guitaring!! ive just learnt this one myself. great track

  • Very nice! Is that a Regal Tricone?

  • great job!

  • Awesome bro!!How long you been playing?

  • great job. I'm glad you didn't sing, it woul have ruined it.

  • god damn...

  • Sounds great but you definately have to put more feeling into it.

  • lmao how dare you

  • awesome.... just like the record...:)

  • this is pretty damn good man. with some singing this would be really good

  • thanks JimitriG! i definitely want to learn how to sing. Can you sing?

  • well i try to...

  • I think this is the one of the hardest RJ songs to get right, you do it really well!

  • hi parapedal! thanks a lot! hopefully with more practice i can get this closer to the original - there a plenty of licks to learn, and most importantly i'd really like to learn to sing! pity I didn;t grow up around the gospel church!

  • Hello

That was fantastic. I was wondering what guitar your using? The reason I ask as I hope to start learning slide guitar pretty soon and I am unsure at what guitar to buy...do you have a recommendation for a beginner guitar that has a bluesy sound???

    Any help appreciated,

    Cantona

  • not bad, try making a song like that of your own.

  • Not bad altho you do not present different musical

element clearly enough so there is logical connection

between them - if you do not know original then it

looks like one descending lick that you learned well

and some random fragments that you did not present

clearly enough. There is no balance. You may want to

slow down so that music talks in full sentences.

  • thanks for your comments woland99. I hear what you're saying! but i am quite familiar with the song in my head, but putting those sounds out to guitar is quite hard - but yes the attempt at Preaching blues could do more merit to the original. Some singing would help! As for slowing it down, maybe, but the original is really quite fast. Cheers!

  • what i mean is, its very different from the real version

  • :) yeah - RJ's original is simply awesome. I'll never get it - and I can't sing either! :) It'd be interesting to give it a go on one of those old Martin guitars - i think that's what Johnson played. The tricone is quite a different sound

  • You probably slide the guitar with iron on your finger. I slide the guitar with a snone in my hand. You are a very good gitarist.

  • thanks mate - got any videos online of you & your stone slide in action?

  • Not yet, I have a guitar since a half year, and there are 2 strings destroyed. But when its repaired I can play the Midnight Special with a stone.

  • far from perfect

  • cheers!

  • fuck yeah!!

  • Is there any way you could E-mail me the tabs for this? or do u know anywhere where i could find them?

  • You don't need tabs just the Robert Johnson box set and a whole lot of free time

  • Sounds good! It's great to see that people love blues music around the world.

  • dude...you..are...awesome.

  • will you marry me?

  • try and sing at the same time

  • haha! one day - can't sing to save my life!

  • Cool, open D?

  • Great! Surely one of my favourite Robert Johnson tunes!

    Keep on playing!

  • I can't stop watching this!! Robert Johnson would be proud :-)

  • Dampen those strings man you will sound cleaner

  • hey pilotfish! cheers for the tip! Funnily enough i got the same tip from Bob Brozman at a guitar tutorial today. I am away from my tricone for 2 months so I'll be itching to get back to practice

Thanks everyone for your kind words! Yeah i'm going to give a bit of singing a go next time - can't sing for sheit though!

  • Very cool!

  • sing "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm blueeeeeeeeeeeeeeees walkin like a mannn

  • Really good one, oh yes! Damn, gonna practice myself with the slide now...

    Congrats, keep on sending them!

  • There are a lot of really good players on youtube and a lot of really good performances, but for the first time I'm jealous! Good job man, put up some more vids!

  • Great rendition, one of the hardest of Robert Johnson's songs to play! You've definatly been to the Crossroads!

  • Outstanding! Accurate enough remdition to know what track it is, with bags of your own flare thrown in for good measure. I have seen this track done before but I've not seen it done better.

  • Portugueses comentary from Brazil...

    Yeah! bacana... Muito bom...

    N-body Blues!!!

  • You sold your soul didn't you!

    Freakin Awesome!

  • thanks a lot fngrpckr & vleb!

you guys are both great players!

this online community stuff is really cool!
