I have seen mossy a few times and he is by far a better singer than barnesy. Cold Chisel would not have happend with out Jimmy but mossy wrote a lot of their hits including this one......
I was in a covers band back in 1980 and the main act usually treated support acts like sh*t.Some of you will know what I mean but Chisel were the nicest down to earth guys you can imagine. It was at the Playroom on the Gold Coast. Jimmy climbing all over the PA after half a bottle of Vodka. Beryl from the Playroom loved the band. We had breakfast the next morning at the same place they did and again were great to talk to. Not big headed. They did Imagine in their set as a tribute after John died
Not an Aussie(American), but a HUGE CC and Ian Moss fan....they just don't don't make 'em like him anymore...what I wouldn't give to see him live...great clip here...never stop rockin boys...this music has made many a day for me....this song was my wind down perk up off of many combat patrols...I know for my Aussie friends this is iconic....thanks for sharing it with the rest of us...
I always used to go to the bar and get a beer when Chisel played My Baby and then head back to the front of the stage. It's like "OK Phil, we can do your song..." The funny thing is, My Baby flew up the charts, promoted by the likes of Ian Meldrum (shudder) and perfect for the lame mainstream radio of the day .
He sounds so awsum at the start of this vid like during the intro. And he basically sounds really great through out the whole thing. I just love Mossy.
I see there are no comments yet on this video so I thought as an Aussie I must oblige....
1. Thanks for posting this awesome video.
2. Ian Moss is one of the best musicians Australia has ever produced and I wish I had 1/2 of his talent
4. I challenge any current Aussie band to sound as good live as this one does
5. Sometimes simplicity of setup live gives the most effective result. I mean this is just guitar bass and drums, with a bit of David Blight magic. But how good is the sound
