Dang, you make it look so easy! But now, seriously, how do you stabilize the cut ends at the window openings and doorway? And framing the door-windows? And a Ski-Hut, where? My brother has property near Mt. Shasta in N. Calif and I may buy something there this summer and like to build a log home, just a small one for myself, no family or anything. 1 big room, loft for sleeping. Most available timber is pine or fir. Bro' and I have saws and stuff.
Good site for survival and old skills manuals for the coming collapse that I have purchased for myself & my family: dawnapproaches dotcom
They have an Ultimate Survival collection of 150 books. They put all 150 books on a DVD-Rom for $9.99 & I have not only found it cheaper than one standard book alone, but much more resourceful (over 36,000 pages) with many of the ways that have been lost through time. They also have huge woodworking & homesteading collections.
Around and above an abandoned gas station, back in 1972, I used bolts and nuts to build a restarant with a foot print of 40' x 60' with 3-br upstairs. I did most of the work because I had no money to hire contractors. But it took me ten years to complete the building though ! It is the " slowest " way to build a post and beam building ! Pretty good, but two suggestions---I agree with "terryliciareed" Much slower, and if you ever do this again, take the photo from the same angle every time.
SLOOOWWWWW it down! Would like to see things .... but not in a blur! Good work though! Looks quite cozy, easy to heat and comfy to live in. For one person, or two madly in love people. LOL
One thing I've noticed on House Hunter's is people buy large floor plans. In my mind when you build/shop for a home. How much is your cost going to be for heating and a.c.??
A high efficiency house! The room is small, so it don't need a big heating and wood has got a 6 times better insulation than concrete. That means for a 20cm wood wall you will need a 120cm concrete wall...
@davidnevermind1979 My favorite part was the door knob section at 00:32. Absolutely riveting! I had to keep replaying it to make sure I didn't miss any of the extensive and informative details. I can hardly wait for ghosts to get started on mine!

So, the fastest way to build a small cabin is to bring wood to your location, and take pictures while ghosts build it?
