yes they are usually synonymous. they are steep volcanoes because of the high viscosity of the lava cooling close to the crater. the lava cools on top of previous flows (strata). these strata make up a "composite"volcano. in contrast, the shield volcanoes of hawaii,etc. have low sloping sides because of the low viscosity of the lava

The "scientist" said the ocean floor is basalt, that it all had to be hot once. True, but not all at the same time. The MidAtlantic Ridge allows lava to ooze up, pushing two plates apart, and taking continents with them. That wasn't mentioned. I'll give you something that refutes this video. They acknowledged the Ice Age. Yet the Ice Age ended about 10,000 years ago.

The "scientists" supposedly speaking had much of their words cut-pasted out of context, too. They acknowledge plate tectonics - which, BTW, is a science Theory, just as Evolution is - and to accept tectonics requires accepting an extreme age for the Earth. Plate movements occur very slowly, inches per year. 6000 isn't enough to accommodate tectonics.

Geological features are not the result of a biblical flood, they are proven to be the result of millions of years of weathering, erosion & tectonic plate movement. Sandstone layers are not always laid down by water, they can be transported by wind also. You're right though, the majority is laid down by water, but that is from rivers and streams that exist now and did exist millions of years ago. Its all part of the rock cycle. Polystrata fossils are explainable by the fact that land moves, tectonic plates shift and strata are disrupted.
