But after he beat Silva, he said publicly that he would go down to 205 before he fought Cain, who he trains with. So one way or another he is open to it now. Besides that, the guy is carrying at least 30 pounds of extra fat. If he got down to 217 it would be an incredibly easy weight cut to make 205.
@Vinnymanvinny1 He had a few bad weight cuts which likely led to his kidney failure. He did originally say he wouldn't go down to 205 because of that. But if you read the statements he made after beating Bigfoot, he said he would go down to 205 before he fights Cain who was the champ at the time. The plan was to fight Barnett, then drop to 205. Granted he lost the belt, so now plans may have changed but regardless the point being he was open to going down to lightheavyweight.

Cormier is a solid fighter, only going to get better too. But I still think he would do better at light-heavyweight. I think he's going to be too small for guys like Barnett and Overeem

@NiNjAxASSASiN Silva has a big frame no doubt, but he's overrated. His big wins, Fedor and Arlovski, both of which are past their prime (and Silva being much larger than Fedor). Cormier will be truly tested for the first time against Barnett. And cutting weight will take too much out of him??? Dude don't be ridiculous. The guy is an Olympic wrestler, he's used to cutting large amounts of weight and competing. Plus he's carrying quite a bit of fat. He could make 205 easily.

@Haguey121 He suffered kidney failure in 2008 most likely from repeatedly cutting large amounts of weight, and did say this was why he would stay at heavyweight originally. But after he beat Silva, he said publicly that he would go down to 205 before he fought Cain, who he trains with. So one way or another he is open to it now. Besides that, the guy is carrying at least 30 pounds of extra fat. If he got down to 217 it would be an incredibly easy weight cut to make 205.

@Vinnymanvinny1 He had a few bad weight cuts which likely led to his kidney failure. He did originally say he wouldn't go down to 205 because of that. But if you read the statements he made after beating Bigfoot, he said he would go down to 205 before he fights Cain who was the champ at the time. The plan was to fight Barnett, then drop to 205. Granted he lost the belt, so now plans may have changed but regardless the point being he was open to going down to lightheavyweight.

idk i still not totally sold on black fedor. impressive fight no doubt but i think silva was suprised and cormier wrecked his chin in this fight. Cormier has great power, but i think hes a little too relax out there. Throw a straight right left knee combo i think you can ko cromier.
