  • you obviously thought of this, and I was wondering what trouble you encountered with this: why didn't you just weld the cranks in place? Instead of putting the pedals right next to the frame giving it an akward feel

  • so for the pedals, did you basically just take out the insides of the pedals, and put a threaded bar straight through the bb slide the pedals on to the bar and put nuts on the end?

  • what are the demensions of the brackets and the degrees of the angled triangle i would like to make some and my dad is going to weld it together so i can put on my mountain bike cause i live in ohio and we get plenty of snow hahah

  • The best type of skis to use are called Skiboards which have 4cm x 4cm metal inserts and wood cores -- you are asking for trouble without the inserts and foam cored ski blades. Cheap ones would be from Snow Jam and and quality ones are from Revel8. Check out the skiboardsonline dawt com forum to find some used pairs cheap -- you could also use older Line Skiboards such as the Mike Nick Pros.

  • Do the triangle brackets swing on the spots wheels were? Just wondering because I am going to build on myself.

    Thanks, and great video.

  • I like it, I want to make one but I don't have any ski's or anything, what else could I use or where could I get ski's for cheap?

  • hey could you post a video of how to build those brackets

  • @DevynD13 i didn't shoot any footage while making them. i took pics though. follow this link in the video info to the album

  • @rodpontemayor will it work if my bike doesnt have rear dumpers

  • Awesome concept! Check mine out! :)

  • how did u make the triangle brackets and how did u bolt the triangle brakets to the skiis without going through.

  • @k38football1 the skiis are ski blades. i used the original threaded holes that were used for the bindings to attach the triangle brackets

  • Last year I bought a set of Revel 8 KTP skis. They are wide and shaped and it has made a HUGE difference in turning and floating in powder. Check them out.

  • where did you get the triangle prackets??

  • @rodpontemayor could you write a list of the names of the metal you used? i would like to change my downhill into 1:)

  • I am going to make one of these for a school major project. i was wondering if you can buy the front end of a bike. The handle bars, forks and most inportant the part that enables the weel to turn with the handle bars. (if that didnt make sence i mean the part that is just left of the mongose logo and just above the front suspention) Also i have to make most of the bike, the frame. thats because i will marked on my welding and cutting skills. Any help would be greatly appreciated. MESSAGE ME PLZ

  • You may want a rear shock that has rebound control. If it has no rebound control, you may hit a bump and the rear shock will throw you off the bike. Good luck and wear a helmet!

  • your better off removing your sprocket and putting your cranks back on.....feels alot more like a bike

  • coolest thing ever ima build one my self

  • you need to put som spring on the front tips so the if u jump the will stay level

  • Nicest home made ski bike on youtube

  • i would have to put cranks on mine, i dont like stand ing like that

  • Hey how did you mount the skiis to your actual bracket that is attached because just Bolton it together make it so Thers bolt heads sticken out under the skiis

  • @eastonbighitter you use bolts that go down into the ski so you can wax over it for a smooth surface im sure someone else could give u the actual name of the type of bolt. i cant think of it right now its late and im tired. if i remember ill be sure to let u kno

  • down fall theres no snow

  • I just built my own brackets to put on my bmx bike but I am afraid that their too tall. The axle runs though them at like 7.5 inches on front and back, but they seem too unstable, how tall are your brackets? please help.

  • can you steer it like a norm bike, or did u modify it so handles wont turn? Not sure what way would be better

  • do u use water skis or snow skis ik this is a stupid queston but i want to no

  • the pedals should be wider so that you get a better balance, and they should be able to spin, like in BMX, to pull up the back of the bike while jumping, and you won't loose control of the back in the air.

  • the pedals should be much wider so you get a better balance and they should be able to spin, it'll be more confortable for your knees and your ankles while riding

  • i like your bike man! i used a metal triangle bracket for mine too with way worse skiis. for petals i cut the original ones in the middle, shortened them and welded them going the same way so they made a U shape and it works good

  • hey! Im going to do one like this, in one of these days, and I want to know if its easy to go with it? I am a mountain bike racer, but I cant go with the ski, is this problem?

  • @baszki It's actually very east to ride! Its like riding a bike!! Hahhaha! Nah but seriously its very simple. just lean back and forth to carve. The main difference is no brakes. you have to skid to stop. Small slopes are no problem, but when it gets steep and speed builds thats when it gets sketchy! Good luck

  • @rodpontemayor yo nice build im gonna make one with my bike that got distroyed by an idiot car driver i lucky i got out with only stiches

  • I must say, you are so smart! With the idea of the offset triangle brackets. I was thinking, "Why would they need to be offset?" I would have never thought of that! Good job man, good job.

  • Nice project man.

  • im thinking of doing something similar but using blocks of wood, and having them able to pivot, with the axle going through the block towards the front of it so that it have the same effect of tilting up the ski when airborn. Not quite as sturdy and good looking, but a cheaper easier alternative for just wanting to play around on it.

  • Crazyy, good job (y)

  • Hiii, how long are the skiies on that skibike ? i have the same frame as you ;) and it rocks ;) please answer in centimeters, i my inbox. Thanks ;) i subbed you too

  • Sweet ride. now u need some speakers.

  • @wilderath i use a skullyboom speaker when i board or bike!

  • You could make alot of money selling conversion kits !

I would definitely buy one !

  • @phycoboys4 there's a patent on the concept! i looked it up already

  • how does the bracket move freely in the dropout? is there bearings or something?

  • @InspectorJavert1820 I gutted out the axles from the wheels that came on the bike. i found steel tubing that fit perfectly over the axle. check out my photo link in the video info to see detailed pics.

  • Nice brackets man, looks great, great ideas

  • @TheFrostBit thanks! take a look at my photo link in the info for more details. it was fun to build.

  • im building bike just like yours and i was wonder what are the measurements for the triangle brackets ?

  • @quadkid53 i don't have exact measurements because I eyeballed most of it. the height of the triangle is 8 inches. I figured it would be a good height so the pedals wouldn't rub the snow on turns.

  • @rodpontemayor ok thanks

  • @rodpontemayor unless its a random very bumpy hill, the height doesnt really have to be over 5 inches, one of my bikes has 6 on the front, 5 on the back, and thats way good enough, my other bike has 5 on the fron and 4 on the back and even that is good. If you go too high it can get sketchy when carving and a lower riding bike is a lot easir to turn and manuveur

  • were did u get the triangle brackets from ???

  • @guitarguy1oooo I built the brackets myself.

  • im sorry i didnt mean mine was better than yours, i meant that it was better than my first one. just wanted to get that cleared up

  • nice bike,

i have made two. the first one was a way smaller mongoose than that but the next one is alot bigger like yours and better. I used mending plates for the ski braces and angle iron with holes to mount to the skis. but as for the foot pegs, i have been using bmx handles turned upside down and pointed back, fixed to the rear wheel brace which would work nicely. ive also made an army themed one for my friend from a bmx bike. he was quite happy with it. have lots of fun with it !

  • Do u have a set of plans for the triangle? Id pay you for a set if you would make them

  • shit yes dude. looks pimpin. i'm going to make one tonight out of my old mongoose. . but i think i'm going to use an old plastic kids snowboard. .. ps i like you thinking with your mounting design.. all the other videos i watched they had the bike to close to the ground not great for powder... good job!

  • what all did wou use to make this? and would you consider sellin this set?? thanks

  • Cool bike
