  • you know you're goin fast when the I/C spray light stays on

  • Have you ever though about building an H6 for this car?

  • I'll state the mechanical weaknesses with an STI being as I've owned a 580whp STI. For me personally I'd never had any engine failures but within a year I broke two 6,000 transmissions. That's when I sold it and bought a Vette.

  • what happened to your other engines? I thought subarus were reliable? im asking because a long time ago you told some kid that youy have been through a few different engines.....

  • @sergsrt8 I lost two complete motors due to valves drops. I switched to different cams and so far so good. I don't think a 2.5L 4-cyl making 500whp+ could ever be called reliable.

  • @jays05 Stock motor evo's make that much all day long, i know cause i've had one :)

  • @sergsrt8

stick to your srt8 and supercharge it, that's reliable power imo

  • awsome freaking car man! you are a street king!!

what is your set up for the engine? what peak psi are you running with 93 + meth and what horse power and torque?

  • i like how your intercooler spray light turns on when you have meth injection

  • my dream car, mine's stage 2, one day I will have this setup!!! HURRY UP TIME!!! lol

  • i love your A/F, are you running factory ECM?

  • awesome tuning! Never seen A/F's like this! Good job

  • 26 psi? Isnt that your boost gauge saying 12s?

  • @Sp33dyD3m0n Thats his A/F ratio

  • hat's off to the tuner

  • *droool*

  • lol the wideband jumps from 12 to like 35 between shifts.

  • Comment removed

  • lean and mean! :)

  • dude you have a beautiful ride. I have an 04 sti that im hoping will live up to this one day!

  • you need to by a new tranny.lol.. short gears here.

  • be careful with that tuning 12.0-12.3 is not that good with a big turbo

  • @AlbertYamaha no it's perfect fuel tune..

  • Wow great tuning, A\F ratios are steady 12.0 BEAUTIFUL

  • What kind of fuel?

  • Those A/F ratios are beautiful

  • @sk8nrocker23 It's funny you say that because I saw on another vid a WRX owner did a TD06 18G upgrade and said that he had around 12-13:1 AFR under boost and some douche said that he was going to blow his motor up. And there was NO WAY 12:1 or 13:1 is GREAT. And that guy claimed to be an expert HA! lol look up perrin V2 fuel rail wrx and it should come up.

  • @sk8nrocker23 i was thinking the same thing.

  • i love evo but this buby is fuckin really fast! huge torque! tranny and internals can hand this power?

  • The tranny is bone stock and can handle it. I've been through a few different engines but none of the failures seemed to be related to making too much power.

  • is amazing.. with ffs the violence of gearshift is really high! and with the internals of the engine? u can keep all the power for a couple of drag races or the suby last for some months of daily and track use?? :)

  • @jays05 I'm pretty sure the stock sti tranny can handle upwards to about 500hp.

  • More like over 600+

There are many race teams on stock STi trannies doing from 6-900whp on a stock tranny. La Rata for instance.

  • damn, so do you have a cosworth block yet? you can buy a built up engine from cosworth. check out my profile to see the engine in action.

  • Dude i've literally typed a response 4 different times and it won't post it. I'll just pm you on iwsti.

  • Nice! Did you move bc of a job? I was going to go down Friday originally to get my car tuned but I got it together sooner than I thought. It would have been sweet to see yours go!

  • Yeah work moved me down here. I live about 10 mins away from Charlotte, right over the SC border. What all is done to your car now?

  • Good deal man. How are you like sc compared to up here? I hear it's been cold as hell there.

  • It's supposed to be 55f and sunny here tomorrow and at the beginning of the week it was in the mid 60s !! I have no regrets at all about moving to SC.

  • @jays05 yooo i live in SC too man..where do you bring your car to get worked on?

  • I bet man I havent driven my car since wed and I'm dying. Well I dove it today but i'm on a basemap to get me down to the shop I don't dare hit boost. What are your new dyno numbers?

  • No dyno numbers yet. It has a fresh motor and Junior is going to tune it @ 15psi when I am there next week. Then I'm going to drive it down to SC (I live there now) and in a month Junior is coming down to do the final tune. It should make a good bit more power than the last motor! :)

  • Ahh got ya. I can't wait to go down monday. According to a few people I should be in the mid 3's for hp and pushing 400tq on the stock turbo on e85 with my mods, I hope so..I'm going to go for a stock turbo record then probably a new turbo is in store.

  • Give my car a little kiss for me... LOL

I can't wait to drive it again!!!

  • Jay is your car still at the shop? I'm heading down Monday for a 93 and e85 tune. Have you considered e85?

  • It is still at The Shop but it's all done. I'm picking it up next friday. For an E85 tune I need to add a surge tank, -8an feed line, and an inline fuel pump, so I'm holding off on it for now.

  • Very fast !What ECU you use stock or...

  • Stock ECU + TXS UTEC

  • forged or no?

  • Nice pull, ur A/F is right in the sweet spot

  • Hi Jay..Nice video from you..was just wondering how come you are using 93octane? is that the highest octane in your country or..?

  • 93 octane in the US is roughly 98-99 RON. Octane is measured differently here, and 93 is as good as it gets in most of the US.

  • i see..we have highest RON98 in Singapore..and i think Japan has got RON99.

  • just for those who don't know, most of CA only gets 91 octane. :(

  • here in canada we get 94:)

  • You were on race gas right? With AFR's in the 12's you better be. Unless your spraying a lot of meth.

  • This video was on 93 with a lot of meth... M15 nozzle.

  • hey, dnt hate on getalife, his shit is fast!

  • Nice STi bro. And you can definately drive.

  • EMM...............WOW

  • getalife seems to talk shit on every video post with a WRX/sti on it

  • He could not have chosen his name better!

  • Hey getalife i just see you with alot of cars or videos with your name on it. Do you own 4 Subarus?? Sti to be exact?

  • getalife04 that is funnny that you would post that. And dont get me wrong im laughing hard. you dont stand a chance. ill tow my car down there with a race gas tune of 504 to the wheels. and that is less then jays pump gas. Hmm take the race

  • Ok looks like I have to explain this again. I was talking about a guy I work with that has a stupid set up on his wrx. This one is sweet but I run just about as fast on only 18psi. And let's see some vids ov your car the. If it's so fast.

  • i love your STi man. i love STi's all around but yours im very happy with! soooo fucking sick! plus your a great driver so that helps everything!

  • Look at this ol piece a shit, doesn't run worth a damn. I bet it doesn't even have 100whp.

Haha jk bud, nice and VERY fast subbie!

  • jay hows the car runing? its been a while. Ok here is a video of the car before. and in 3 months ill have an after. Goal is 550 on pump and dogbox. and 600-650 on race. Well see if the tsr 70 works. i doubt it it will.

  • very good 8,2 s around 100-200kmh;) about 500hp??

  • Comment removed

  • Ok, thats is really fast and sick, say what you want!!!

  • yea man, cant hate on this vid look the tune!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • lol i doubt it. Jay lives on the other side of the U.S. and Dan is getting rid of his subie.

  • its an STi you chode

  • Comment removed

  • Thats fuckin fast...

  • my EVO would eat this thing alive...STOCK. haha jk man. nice car

  • OH MY GOD, that is awsome, props on the car man

  • this is one of the sickest sti's

  • ur shits FAST

  • I am running a GT30R set up in my 03 WRX and these things are monsters if you get them tuned right. And I am only running 18 psi and I am running 11.7 in the 1/4.

  • damn....Stock 5 spd?...lol...Im running a GT32 in my 02 WRX....thing is tuned pretty well im running 24 PSI...Very anxious to get it down the 1/4..

  • yeah it is the stock 5spd but the 1st and 2nd gears are straight cut and 3rd and 4th are hellical so they are beefed up. Yeah and I have seen alot of people running boost like yours and they end up getting problems. I wouldn't recommend running more than 18 psi unless you have forged or beefed up internals. It creates too much pressure in your motor and you can end up spinning a bearing and fuckin your motor up pretty bad.

  • Not to worry...My GT32 is mated to a built 2.5 Hybrid...actually just upped the WGDC today so I should wind up around like 26-27 PSI...Next comes some PPG's or a Dogbox...

  • honestly if you drive your car daily you will hate the dog box lol. My buddy was one on his 02 WRX and it drives him nuts it is pretty loud going through the gears and shifting it takes alot of work. According to him anyway I know his tranny is as loud as his turbo lol. I would just go with the ppg if i were you more streetable but you still get good reliability when you race it.

  • yeah...I was thinking about that...im still undecided...I know the dog engagement is more expensive too...however thankfully i have my Legacy for a daily driver....I have heard the dogbox trans' before and yeah they do whine pretty good ..lol...Man he had to drop some coin on that trans...

  • yeah I don't know the exact amount that he put in it but I am pretty sure it was more than 10 grand. But I just have my gears changed and I can out run him. But if you ask me he didn't put his car together too well. He is running the stock internals on a GT40 making 28psi. He won't listen to me when I tell him he is running that ej205 way too hard but oh well his motor. I give it another month before he blows it up lol. Only had that set up for 2 weeks now so we will see.

  • Dear lord 28 PSI on a stock internal EJ205...Man...Personally Im prob. not going to tune mine to more than like 30 PSI on my built motor (it not being sleeved)...Hey look at it this way...if he had around 10 grand to drop on a trans hes got to have money to build a motor when it goes....lol

  • yeah true lol he makes bank so I don't think he is really worried about it. He makes twice what I do and I live really easy lol so oh well. But I don't see the point in ruining a perfectly good motor. The EJ205 is a great motor if you tune ir properly they can make great amounts of power.

  • I call BS on a stock ej205 running 28psi with a GT40. 100% BS. Stock EJ205 rods break right around 350wtq.

  • not really it all depends on how you have it tuned but never the less his motor won't last much longer with the way he is running it. I personally am only running 18psi and I can beat him because he is untuned. I don't give it long at all until his motor breaks. He has had it like that for 2 weeks now but he doesn't seem to car that he is going to break it and he has the cash to get it built right but he just isn't. I am running 11's in mine with a GT30R and he can't beat me lol.

  • No. You or your friend (who probably does not even exist) are lying. Torque causes those rods to snap like twigs. Besides the fact that an ej205 probably cannot even spool a 40r.

  • ok if a honda can spool a GT40 then an ej205 certainly can. And for being a subaru own you sure don't know much about the ej205 motors. I am making 400whp with 393 ft lbs or torque and I have driven my car for over a year like this. Stock internals. Care to explain that one?

  • A 2L built Honda engine won't spool a GT40 until about 7,000RPM, but since you can take a built Honda engine to 9.5-10k, it will spool it. EJ205 going on displacement alone should spool at 6-6.5k, so you're buddy only has 100rpm of usable powerband?? I'd be interested to see your dyno graph too. You must make peak hp at 5k, and it's gotta drop off from there, or else you'd make more than 400hp. Sounds like it makes good mid-range.

  • He gets full boost at 5,500 rpms but like you said it's time to shit shortly after that. He has a stupid set up on it. I am running the gt30r turbo and I can blow his doors off so oh well his problem.

  • You need to relax man. He has a nice car period.

  • The stupid set up I was refering to was a guy that I know that has. Wrx running a stupid set up not this guy.

  • Sorry mate I misunderstood your comment.

  • It's all good, no worries.

  • lol and im sure ur "setup" will pwn every car out there.. unlikely. post some videos then talk or keep ur mouth shut <3

  • Check out my vids dude, there is an 800hp wrx in my vids too it's fucking sweet. And I do kill everything I come across but I don't street race all that often as I am a working family man and like to be home with my wife and kids. But check out my track vid I run 11.5 now but that run is an 11.7

  • i agree with u jay...by the time the ej205 would spool the 40 it would be time to shift....

  • get longer gears:)

  • Runnin a little lean there don't you think? I never run mine higher than 11.5 on pump gas, or 11.9 on race gas.

  • The ideal AFR under boost is 12.2:1. This number is lifted from both Maximum Boost (Corky Bell) and Turbo Charging Performance Handbook (Jeff Hartman).

Flame speed (and thus risk of detonation) rises as the mixture is richened above 12.2, to a peak flame speed at 11.7:1 AFR.

Pull your AFRs back to 12.2:1 and you will be able to produce more torque at a given rpm than you do now, and will be able to safely put in another degree or so of advance.

  • Running leaner, means running hotter. On my daily driven tune, I ran 11.3-11.5 afr, and I ran the piss out of it with no problems. When I wanted some more power, I ran 11.8-11.9 sometimes 12.0. Long story short, I cracked a piston running 11.9 afr... Richer is safer, if its getting some detonation, decrease timing, problem solved. I used to run only 13 degrees of timing during the summer.

  • this is running on Methanol/Water injection, not just fuel. You can't directly compare afr's with straight pump or race fuels and a water injection setup.

  • We could spend threads and threads debating the ideal A/F ratio....Personally Im running like 10.2:1 under full boost....

  • also my friend said he'll sell me a fully done up head for only 200 bucks.

  • damn man those short gears are killing you...

  • i've heard the 2009 wrx beats the sti 0-60---5 speed vs 6 speed

  • probly.

but still, i would take a stick anyday in an STi

  • Jay, what was your redline PSI? did you hit 26 psi and hold it or taper it to say 22.5 at redline?

  • i got my car tuned on pump 91... with a gt35r on methanol.. i made like 470awhp.. i think thats low #'s for my setup.. what do i need to raise my hp.. my next upgrade will be rods and piston's and upping my boost.. i want 600hp

  • thast your problem, no internals, gotta build that thing if you want those numbers, get a stroker kit to help with the lag.

  • stroker kit sounds fun.. but i want to be able to tell people im only a 2.0L :) .... lag sucks but once it gets going its gone. if im launching off the line on a 2step there is hardly any lag. give me a couple months to save up.. makes it hard when i owe irs so much

  • True, but even still just do your internals and then the head. Once you do that you can turn that wick up a tad and really start havin some fun.

  • yoo be carefull man on trying to reach six..i dont know how deep your pockets are but its goin to take more than rods and pistons to hit those numbers...you wanna look trying to find a good tuner to..iam already spent 15gs on my motor alone on my suby and i just got it back from not driving it for a year in a half..but hey dont rush it bro..you'll hit it someday just do research first..good luck

  • ive got around 15g's in my evo also.. ive made a list of what i need.. everything + install will put me around 4g's... i need the rods, piston's, valves, springs, retainers so i can up my boost.. im only running 25psi on a gt35r turbo with methanol..... everyone know's i should be running more around 30-35psi.. they didnt want to up the boost till i got my engine built. ive pretty much got everything else

  • i would try getting a upgrade on the turbo to get those number. maybe a GT42r

  • what about that laaaaggggggg.....

  • What kind of Gas you using buddy?

    12.0:1 :D

  • I mentioned it elsewhere here... it was 93oct with 50/50 meth/water.

  • You should film your gas gauge during this run. (;

  • good shit man. Maybe if you put 5gear tranny in there with longer gear, you would be much better and faster.

  • i'd stick with the 6 speed. wrx trannys suck. i like the short gears good for cruisin. wats your internal mods if u don't mind me askin jay?

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN...now that's what i call BOOST...lol

  • any plans for an 8k plus rev limit :)

  • nah, 77-7800 is the max for this engine. Much higher and it'll spit the bearings out.

  • Bummer. Do you know how did Lin Tan Motors accomplish a 9200 rev limit EJ25?

  • Can you make a speedo video of 0-120+ mph acceleration? It would be cool to see more videos of your car. Find me on iwsti site - google "goQuality STI"; I'd love to get performance and tuning data from you and to exchange tuning experience.

  • Believe me I will once the car is up and running again. Motor got rebuilt after a blown HG and we are doing "a few upgrades" ;) The new engine is in the car already so it should be done soon. I've seen your car on IWSTI, you can find my full build up on there too.

  • ive bought myself a ultragate (external wastegate) but unsure where to install?? anyone?? and obviously on the exhaust manifold to all u smart arses lol

  • hey what ECU do you have. i love the check engine shift light. i know hondata allows you to do that but i don't know suby's

  • That's not the check engine light, it's the shift light.

And I am using a TurboXS UTEC.

  • my bad im used to hondata. this thing is a beast.

  • My GT30R STi puts down 400whp on a mustang dyno.

What kind of gains would I see if I added an intake manifold and meth?

  • intake mani? You don't really need one. meth just allows for a safer, more aggressive tune. how much boost are you running right now?

  • 21 LBS

Blew my Diff yesterday by the way.

  • Wow, very nice man. Any trip to the strip yet? Seems like a mid 11 second car.

  • The cars been off the road since december but should be back "soon" ;-) and I am shooting for quicker than 11s.

  • jay, any plans of some 07 gears in that beast?

  • how come u rev so high? reply plz

  • because it has big cams and a big turbo. it makes power up there.

  • right thanks, but i was wandering how i could increase the rev limit but im unsure how high the EJ25 can actually go.

  • Yes now I know. I run 1580-1650 EGT's and everything is perfectly fine with the engine. We run tests regularly. I can safely say that running 1650F EGT's for short periods of time (daily driving/street/drag racing) is fine in STI's. I do not intend to test EGT's above that number in my car. All data I can find points to engine failure after runs at 1700F+ EGT's.

  • What's interesting is that phil @ element tuning says they ran their time attack car at 1800f+ egts on a stock engine + gt35r with no problems at all.

  • sweet!

  • running a little lean bro watch ur a/f ratios

  • He's running methanol injection, hence the reason why the AF ratios are kind of high.

  • oo ok i didnt kno b/c i saw them at 12.0 i was a little nervous

  • Methanol has a much lower stoich than gas, 6.5:1 vs. 14.7:1, thus running 12.0:1 AFR is extremely lean with methanol injection. Of course this depends on how much alcohol is being injected. If it is all water injection, then the 12:1 AFR is more or less ok. Not the A/F ratio needs to be watched but exhaust gas temperatures - much above 1600F and the engine will melt.

  • I think I was running 50/50 meth/water when this video was made. M15 nozzle. Indeed when I later switched to 100% meth, I made more power with a slightly richer afr. And 13rus you are very wrong about EGTs.

  • wow, very fast

  • since the sti is slower from 100 to 140 it makes sense to rev it past the limiter in third to jumpstart 4th alot faster

  • holy shit brother. that was nasty. nice ass ride.

  • those gears are so short ratio. i guess thats why these things are so qucik of the line.

  • = Petrol guzzler :D

  • no there so quick off the line because AWD

  • actually it was lagging in 2nd gear because the exhaust manifold to uppipe gasket was blown out.

  • Time for a sequential tranny--imagine how much quicker it would be without all that shift-lag!

  • What kind of turbo is in the car?? Surly it can't be running nearly 2 bar on the stock one?!?

  • .82ar gt35r

  • If only the sti trannys had the gear ratios of wrx's, but same durability. God these cars are geared to close!

  • Hmmm I saw 11.8 - 12.0......usually people have 12.0-12.8 on METH

    BUT DAMN FASTT!!!!

  • holy SHIT thats fast!!! what a beast! Subscribed!!!

  • same here

  • How did you mount the camera? My passengers can't hold on to the camera on acceleration, I need a mount. Also 1700F is pretty hot for EGTs, you must be running low timing to be able to run so lean and knock free even on a built block? Redlining it at 7500rpm - scary!. Very impressive! (more)

  • My camera happens to fit quite well inside the hole in the passenger seat headrest, and also right on top of my steering wheel.

It's a built motor, cams, valvetrain, forged everything, etc etc 100% meth M15 nozzle.

And a blown headgasket from when I was being stupid doing 2nd gear rolling burnouts when it was cold out. LOL

  • OMG the speedometer. LOL

  • GOod lord, it's flying through those gears.

  • Who tuned this car? Surely running 12's is 2 lean, what boost are you on?
