every extreme song that i listen too just gets better and better! if Eddie Van Halen and Nuno Bettencourt had a guitar off...my life would finally be complete.
The musicianship on this album is insane. There are very few albums that compare. In terms of production and synchronization of instruments, only Megadeth's "Countdown to Extinction" really compares (and I'm not really a big metalhead). Paul Geary's drumming is absolutely freaking ridiculous, Nuno's rhythms and solos are scorching, Gary's an eleven (to quote Spinal Tap), and Pat's bass lines are solid and in-your-face. This album gives new meaning to the term "precise"...
@bjewell2 Very well said man! Megadeth are my favourite band and I think you're on the ball with that dude; except I'd prefer to say Rust In Peace over Countdown To Extinction; for the pure reason that the riffing and how progressive the album was just blew me away the first time I heard it. But yeah, you're right otherwise I think buddy. :)
At the time it didnt feel like it, I was in high school. But listening to this album today it seems a prophecy. Chosing sides, holy shit what a mess, what do we do, its a new day , its all better now...
Nuno Fing rocks in my top 10 list I was heavy into guitar playing (even tho I sucked at it) about this time, yea Fing rocks. As for the DJ on the radio what do you expect from corprate sell out ratings driven media, smashing pumpkins was heavy when they hit got soft and became mainstream WTF...
Love these guys. Been a fan since the early 90's and this album is in my top 5 of all time I think. Moving Pitcures, Dark Side of the Moon. ABB at the Fillmore, and Exit... Stage Left
.I heard a dj on the radio bag Extreme saying their band name doesnt fit with a song like more than words....clearly someone who has his head up his arse..
Extreme III is just short hand for the album titled III sides to every story which this song and many other excellent ones come from. You can find it on I-tunes, Amazon.com,etc.etc.
@rickyon Yeah i knew it was referring to III Sides to Every Story, and I also searched it on iTunes, but it wasn't being sold? Ill have a look around, but thank you nevertheless :)
I just picked up a copy of Extreme III after not having had it for many years. Forgot how much I liked this song. Gary and Nuno were/are a great songwriting duo.
You know alot of people say that "Nuno is the best underrated player" etc, but hes not underrated, yes he's awesome but alot of people know that, and so does he!
Nuno says that the reason he did not make any tutorial vids was because he believes in learning by ear. I respect that but I think he wouldn't have been so underrated and gained more fame and extended his fanbase if he had at least one workout video made when everyone was doing it.
These guys were so good! I got to see them live in Utah about 17 years ago.....damn I am really that old?..... anyways they were full of energy a great live band.
Cherone, and maybe Nuno, were Christians when they made this (listen to the songs from Ecclesiastes and Matthew at the end of the album, as well as other biblical references throughout the album). But maybe they've got more conservative now.
Most FUN riffs to learn & play (or approximate as Nuno suggests - I can't be Fd to learn ANYTHING properly!!). Extreme DO SARCASM SO WELL! Saw 'em this year (1st time for over a decade). Nuno note perfect and posey as hell (as expected). Catch 'em if YOU CAN!!
you are totally correct, i'm always looking for different and talented bands and i always knew these guys only from "more than words" which is a brilliant song with incredible vocals. but after this, i'm downloading the discography. great great great band.
This is a great song to learn for any instrument.Your a guitarist so this song is especially tough! It tests your speed and stamina but gives you some spots to shake your fingers and rest up for the next smokin riff that comes up! If you can master the leads on this you can play just about anything and the rhythm parts ain't too shabby either.
Released in 1992, my year of birth and played many times throughout my childhood by dad. One of my ultimate favourite songs! :D

I'm not so surprised Nuno is religious, though, he has Portuguese origins, and the Portuguese folk are by far the most religious people in the world.
