  • ive trained with shihan before and gone to his weapon seminar and he makes everyone look like an amateur.

  • Iv Trained with Shihan and iv seen him do this while he was showing me a kata and it was not a fake or small bo

  • I've learned from the Nishime family for more than ten years. This just adds to my admiration of Shihan Nishime.

  • This is amazing, Shihan Nishime is amazing. I go to Nishime Family Karate, they are amazing. He is brilliant he just tested for his 9th degree and passed.

  • He is so fast and the movements are so fluid it's amazing. Does he practice his karate the same way? I wish more karate and kobudo practicioners would realize that this is what true power in kata looks like.

  • The man is simply an accomplished bo practitioner. I don't know who he is, but, based on the use of his legs alone, he is probably an accomplished karate-ka also. However, his technique has the depth seen only with true practitioners developed through decades of study and work. He exemplifies the heart of a martial artist, no flash, no ego, none of the American BS seen so much in open tournaments and black belt mills. Who ever he is..... well done.

  • Quite simply this is a true master at work!

Anything else would be considered false regarding the nature of this reality.

  • FAKE!!! It's done by a MAN, so of course it's fake!!!!! Men are NOT strong enough to break a stick like that, only WOMEN can actually break one, NOT MEN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • by all respect to that skills and inspiring style,

my opinion is Bojutsu should use a real Bo.

cutting the air is not everything.

  • It's a 1" diameter hickory bo. What's not real about it?

  • actually cutting the air is a pretty big part. Have you ever met this man? 7th and 8th dans from other styles can't figure out what he's up to and you watched a 1:15 sec. clip, don't even know this style and deduced that he isn't using a real bo? I've seen him live and have yet to see him use anything but a heavy real weapon. Between Nishime Sensei, his counterpart Oshiro Sensei, and his teacher Kishaba Sensei, I have yet to see anyone better with a bo....period.

  • ok,from the Video of course Ican't see the bo. But its not that I know nothing. When I was on a Oshiro Senseis Seminar he emphasized Cutting the Air (although more then 20 Years practice and activities in Tournaments) I could hardly make a sound, but my neighbour could, then in a break Oshiro Senseis Students stud together,I touched my neighbours Bo,realizes it was very thin and lightwood.soI new why he could do it.sorry, just my opinion, its just not possible to break my bo I while practising.

  • I am Oshiro and Nishime Sensei's student. They can both cut the air using a thick heavy hardwood bo such as purple heart. Because your neighbor used a thin bo, it has nothing to do with the kind Sensei uses. It is possible to break a bo while practicing. Oshiro Sensei broke a purple heart bo during practice once.Breaking the bo is not something intended BTW. Do you honestly think that because you can't do it, no one else can? Also, going to a yamanni ryu seminar doesn't give you credibility.

  • what style do you do? Going to one seminar of Oshiro's doesn't give you all that much Yamanni Ryu body mechanic knowledge. Tournament activities are entirely different than the true focus of Yamanni Ryu. It's very difficult and I doubt you have any real understanding of these complex movements from ONE, TWO, or even 10 Seminars.

  • I've trained with both Nishime & Oshiro Sensei. They use untapered 1"diameter hickory bo.

What happens is that he gets so much momentum generated from his koshi that it snaps the bo.

  • ... and Hickory does not break easily.

Nishime Sensei is just on a different level than most people can ever imagine. Anyone who believes this is "fake" has a shallow understanding of martial arts altogether.

  • @Koryuhoka Well said! Gambatte!

  • Oshiro and Nishime train under Chogi Kishaba, who is one of the last living students of Masami Chinen.

  • Who is the teacher in Okinawa teaching this style of Kobudo? I think Nishime Sensei and Oshiro Sensei both living in USA

  • his name is chogi kishaba and there is a video of him on youtube doing yamanni ryu.

  • Thanks

  • Shihan rocks! I am grateful to Nishime Karate for all they continue teach me, not only about karate but about life!

  • Nishime Sensei is very impressive.

  • very good, should have continued as a nitam bo kata
