Thanks. How many guitarists does it take to screw in a light bulb? One to do it and several others to say they could have done it better. :) I have a lot more fun goofing around with songs and solos than trying to flat out recreate them, unless it's a song I learned years ago when I had time to mess with that. Now I try to get in the same neighborhood and just have fun.

Thanks for the kind words. Just goofing around with a backing track, no need to get your panties in your craw. Regarding the tone, that was a J-station I paid $90 for. Fortunately I have other amps (Bogner, Trainwreck and Dumble clones, among others) and they sound great. I did an RG550 video that has more 'steve vai shit' that you might enjoy. I eagerly await your community-spirited comments on it. I can tell from your writing style that you're a man of class, taste and distinction.

I just dialed it around until I liked what I had... usually use a little delay tap tempo'd, enough chorus to spread the sound out, and the Jstation Solo amp. Thanks!

dude if you're trying to transcribe the actual solo, you're a bit off. why would you post a half ass try? you need to invert those chords and get the sheet music or something. cool tone, but that's not even accurate.

I wasn't trying to do a Berklee level transcription, that was a first take on a (at the time) new guitar and a $99 J-Station. I have nicer amps, but I play stuff like this for fun. Thanks for listening. FYI, I wasn't trying to cop the tone either, just dialled in a sound I liked. On the backing track the snare has about .001% too much reverb and was probably recorded digitally to begin with, instead of analog tape like the original.
