  • thats cool. You captured the essence of what a studio musician is facing when he has to perform a solo.

  • Excuse my language but this is absolutely fucking top banana.

  • Killer! nice to hear a different take on it!

  • oh fuck./..oh shit....that was something special

  • ure picking technique is very fluid, i really like this!!!

  • Too dirty .... and messy..... stick to the solo, you cant improzize on Jay Graydons stuff!!!!

  • Nice try. Way off.

  • Sorry, close but no cigar from me...got to work out the intricate details of that lead to be convincing.

  • that was fantastic man, cant belive u get that tone from a pc crazy.

  • I don't bathe and I get hurt easy :)

  • Nice, it's good to have a new interpretation of an old song.

  • Great playing!!

  • Nice playing man!

  • Superb ;)

  • I Wasn't

    Sleeping

    Retard.

  • pretty good

  • Like you said, not note for note, but a really nice take on it; kind of like what Jon Herington does with the tunes.

  • Cool, I love what he does. Thanks!

  • soo damn nice

  • Direct via S/PDIF output?

  • Hey there, just curious. I guess you are using the S/PDIF digital output on the J-station to record?

  • Nope, analog to a craptacular stock PC soundcard.

  • well done chief

  • I've just fallen off my chair listening to that. Amazing solo and you've got a great sound there.

  • It's top drawer mate. I love the sound as well. Beautiful.

  • I've just fallen off my chair. What a fantastic sound. This is my all time favourite solo. Brilliant.

  • wow. this was pretty sick!

in my opinion better than original

    solo

the original seemed a tad to short and simple don't u think?

    anywas good job

  • Great Job!

  • just do it right. too stylish.

  • I'm a stylish guy. What drifter's corpse did you get your shoes from? :)

  • I liked your response to that guy's comment more than your solo. The drifters corpse line is very original!Dan

  • Good job. I think the original guitar line had less overdrive/fuzz, right?

  • Probably. I used a $100 J-station, God only knows what they used in the studio! :)

  • Beautiful. Awesome job.

  • You are good on guitar

  • oh, c'mon, that's not how it goes.. you know that.

  • Good job my friend. I close my eyes and listen. The "Bollocks" Nice one. From the UK

  • Awesome dude nice tone on guitar. Rock on !

  • Nice

  • Yes I have a j-station as well. it's nice... use some reverb or something though... :)

  • the was the best part of peg... the guitar

  • The bass is pretty sweet (search for the guy doing a bass cover)

  • nice job major dude - (I didn't have the discipline to sit down & figure this one out so made up my own)

  • wow! fair play man

  • needs way more distortion and squeelies. Play it again but put some whammy bar in!11

  • I enjoyed that, nice one.

  • I loved it, loved yer sound to, nice job!

  • nice job and i completely agree with your comments....surely 'note for..(yawn) note' copyists are mostly pre pubescent beginners who have more time than talent. lol discuss!

  • Wow, some guitar players are bitchy. I play keyboards and I like what you did there. Screw the note-for-note stuff. You made it your own.

  • Thanks. How many guitarists does it take to screw in a light bulb? One to do it and several others to say they could have done it better. :) I have a lot more fun goofing around with songs and solos than trying to flat out recreate them, unless it's a song I learned years ago when I had time to mess with that. Now I try to get in the same neighborhood and just have fun.

  • superb

  • it's not some steve vai shit. you don't need to play 10000 notes.

    and work on your tone.

  • Thanks for the kind words. Just goofing around with a backing track, no need to get your panties in your craw. Regarding the tone, that was a J-station I paid $90 for. Fortunately I have other amps (Bogner, Trainwreck and Dumble clones, among others) and they sound great. I did an RG550 video that has more 'steve vai shit' that you might enjoy. I eagerly await your community-spirited comments on it. I can tell from your writing style that you're a man of class, taste and distinction.

  • Owned!

  • Great job! I just think you need to play with more swing.

  • Not bad...but your vibrato is WAY too nervous.

  • ROCKSTARCRANE and MP60 are right; it's not very accurate, but it still sounds good and was an all around good try.

  • Nice work.

  • a little off, but interesting...especially the improvised 2nd pass

  • Yeah right...keep practicing!

  • fantastic - ignore the knockers, great attempt

  • How do you get that tone?

  • EJ strat into a J-station. Can get the J-station for under $100 used, sounds as good as the Line6 stuff and great for goofing around and posting youtube vids.

  • Hi there, I have a question, how can I get tones of other guitarist, like they settings on a J-Station. Like if I want a Metallica tone on my Jstation, how can I get the settings. Thanks

  • very nice :)

  • Not even close; but a nice try nonetheless

  • Awesome!

  • Not even close, sport. Work on your time, then worry about copping the solo.

  • Hey Rock Star, lets see your videos...

  • A great version of my all time fave guitar solo. Well done !

  • I like it!

  • try playing the solo with less FX. actually, the solo on the lp is played dry with a bit of grit from the amp.

  • Well done GEEZER That is ***kin Ace

  • Tabs would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Nice, you would be fun to jam with

  • nice job!

    great song,

    really like that solo. ~

  • Nice try but sucks Love Canal water. Jay Graydon had something extra special going on in that 30 seconds and you don't.

  • Dude, that was killer! Screw the negative posts. Most of those turkeys are probably still trying to learn Iron Man from a cheep tab book...

  • Nice playing and sounds good, remeber which preset you used on the j-station? I'm like you, lots a nice gear, but you can't beat that jstation direct to the pc for some fun.

  • I just dialed it around until I liked what I had... usually use a little delay tap tempo'd, enough chorus to spread the sound out, and the Jstation Solo amp. Thanks!

  • I love my EJ strat! great guitar without the custom shop price tag!!!!

  • Nice job. Dont you just love that Eric J strat !! I love the way it plays and sounds .

  • Pretty good; best of all when you finish the regular solo and start riding the jazz beast at the end... why not post an entire solo for "Peg" as it comes to you?

  • not bad, although those bends were off in the beginning.the improv you did near the end was nice!

  • Good one, I was thinking of posting this entire song myself. Check me out, I love that SD stuff and have posted several songs. I agree with some of the other comments that you are not accurate, but still I like your tone and feel. You are very talented. 5 stars for your effort.

  • Great work! Keep posting ;)

  • dude if you're trying to transcribe the actual solo, you're a bit off. why would you post a half ass try? you need to invert those chords and get the sheet music or something. cool tone, but that's not even accurate.

  • I wasn't trying to do a Berklee level transcription, that was a first take on a (at the time) new guitar and a $99 J-Station. I have nicer amps, but I play stuff like this for fun. Thanks for listening. FYI, I wasn't trying to cop the tone either, just dialled in a sound I liked. On the backing track the snare has about .001% too much reverb and was probably recorded digitally to begin with, instead of analog tape like the original.

  • hi ok.

let me say something to wes here.

hey wes-If Graydon himself had done this AFTER chinese food, or on a different day, or watched Carlton's take first, or forgot to change his strings, this would have been a different solo.

Even if he did another one right after, it would have been different. Surely you must know that this stuff isn't etched on stone.

Especially this thing, by the seat of his pants.

  • Too right Mugsy. Great work okstrat, nice chunky/meaty tone and solo/chord shapes coming into the solo. You're a really great player, keep up the good work.

    Love the Chinese food reference,gaz.

     ;p

  • well done!

  • Really nice man, love your tone!

  • ace stuff man ignore rich I aint looked yet but I bet he aint posted any vids of himself playing they never do.

  • how rich are to afford these guitars?

  • I've played for 24 years, you tend to accumulate gear.

  • Thumbs up!

  • close enuf!

  • hot

  • your solo woulda ended up in the shit heap.

  • Thanks for your support, couldn't do it without you.

  • sorry... but that was not good enough.

  • Thanks for your support. :)

  • This is excellent how you got down the solo of Peg on guitar!

  • nice!

    great song.. ~

  • well done my man !!!!!!

  • Typical tone and time of a young rocker. Not even close, bro. But at least you're listening to some good music and not all that metal crap.....

  • Thanks for your support, it's great to hear from the elder members of the youtube community.

  • you suck.

  • Nice camera angle - Is that'dood-cam-stand' man?? Lets see more of ya talent!!

  • Nice job, dude! The peg solo is one of the greatest guitar solos ever, you did it proud. Good tone.

The solo from kid charlamane is awesome too.

  • sweet!

  • Great technic, great tone (how talent: my j-station, as well!) fabulous bending. Thanks for this video.

  • Tasty -- VERY tasty! I dig your phrasing, bends, and interpretation (and this comes from a guy who is spoiled rotten from playing with some very good guitarists). Refreshing to hear a real player among all the wannabe's on Youtube!

  • Very nice indeed, I just wish you had posted more. I loved it!

  • nicely done!

  • Donald Fagen and Walter Becker would have hired you in a second!

  • your tone is killer.

  • Yeah man, totally killer tone. Great playing.

  • Very nice
