there are 2 types of ki that i know of..one is inner ki, which is inside the body and outer which is all the energy around you..i believe one reason why the ki has a different color is based on this fact..everyone's ki is different..also the point where the ki is being concentrated is also different..that just may be another reason

Also keep in mind, the chip is was too small to see when they implanted it to Ryu's forehead even though this episode shows that the chip is visible from a distance.
