The Swine Flu has been blown way out of proportion. This epidemic nothing more than the SARS, Anthrax, Avian Bird Flu and Monkeypox outbreaks that have occurred over the last decade or so. While they all are potentially fatal if not treated, it's not really that much of a threat nor enough to cause a nationwide crisis if medical attention is seeked.

Swine flu is milder than normal flu with a death rate of only about 1.8 % where "winter" flu is more like 2.2%. It's been blow out of proportion yeah flu's nasty illness but im not gonna go around fretting just because the newspapers needed a new story .
The swine flu has been way overblown. Consider this, about 1000 people die from the regular flu yearly, and only 100 or so have died from the swine flu. Seriously the media is only using this to get viewers just like they did with the bird flu. If my great grandmother who lived through the the 1918 flu pandemic which killed about 50 million people says it's overblown then you know that this is nothing.
I really do know about swine flu but over 100 people died from it and over 1,000 has it but good thing I don't have the swine flu but I know I will never go to Mexico ever because Mexico started it but one of my cousins died from it:( anyway keep it up :)

Great show as always guys! As for Swine Flu I think it is definately blown out of proportion. All that makes headlines is hw more people have contracted it and the deaths. However in the main reports they fail to mention the people who have made full recoveries.
I wanted to ask - what do you guys use to clean cages and vivs? I've been using Virosan (Nolvasan) from ProExotics, and it seems to be doing a pretty good job. I see a lot of herp sites that recommend bleach and water, but I'm concerned about fumes affecting animals from that.
Now, if I can just figure out where my Temp Gun went, lol! I probably won't find the old one until I order a new one.

The ones that are scared of the Swine Flu would be someone like ME who lives only 7 miles from the border here in Texas, and where one person has already died in the next town over due to the Swine Flu. The ones that are not worried are the ones that are not even close to this area and look at it as it was blown out of proportion. the whole swine flu has only been looked at as a serious problem because the majority of the deaths have been from the people in Mexico dying, and that is because they don't have very efficient hospitals.
I think when something comes out that the experts that people go to don't understand, then it is quickly considered a great danger to everyone, Though there are some good reasons for taking some precautions, I think that the media definitely has a way of making something sound worse then what it actually is..

Swine flu is completely blown out of proportion. it's easily killed by a common anti-viral drug. the reason so many died was because they were in Mexico, where they could not afford the drug. Remember bird flu? That stuff is something to worry about with an 82% mortality rate.
The swine flu to us Americans means nothing. Everything is being blown way out of proportion because our country can easily help people with the swine flu rather than in Mexico where some of their water isn't clean and their hospitals aren't the best. If it does affect the U.S., it shouldn't really be much different than the normal flu. Great show as always!!

While they all are potentially fatal if not treated, it's not really that much of a threat nor enough to cause a nationwide crisis if medical attention is seeked.

I was a bit worried about swine flu to start off with for more and more cases of swine flu were appearing in the news.. though Im not that bothered about it, I wash my hands alot and im quite fit and healthy so I guess I could fight it off and anyway our bodies need to fight this disese by itself so if I die.. well I wouldnt care.. Im dead

im not really worried about the swine flu. they keep talking about people passing away and dieng and when your more likley to die from the actual flu. i reasearched this matter actually and found out that there was a mexican man that was diagnosed with it and he was being transported to the US for treatment he died on the way here, because it was on american soial hell broke loose. more people are dieng from the vaccination to prevent it than the swine flu itself.

The swine flu is overblown. it is a pandemic (accoriding to my Social Studies teacher...) but everyones overreacting about everything. people need to chill...its not an apocalypse. it's the flu...from pigs.. big whoop. it killed 100 people. the regular flu does more.a couple of days in bed with some chicken soup is nothing to freak out about..geez

Swine flu is milder than normal flu with a death rate of only about 1.8 % where "winter" flu is more like 2.2%. It's been blow out of proportion yeah flu's nasty illness but im not gonna go around fretting just because the newspapers needed a new story .

The swine flu has been way overblown. Consider this, about 1000 people die from the regular flu yearly, and only 100 or so have died from the swine flu. Seriously the media is only using this to get viewers just like they did with the bird flu. If my great grandmother who lived through the the 1918 flu pandemic which killed about 50 million people says it's overblown then you know that this is nothing.

I really do know about swine flu but over 100 people died from it and over 1,000 has it but good thing I don't have the swine flu but I know I will never go to Mexico ever because Mexico started it but one of my cousins died from it:( anyway keep it up :)

Great show as always guys! As for Swine Flu I think it is definately blown out of proportion. All that makes headlines is hw more people have contracted it and the deaths. However in the main reports they fail to mention the people who have made full recoveries.

I wanted to ask - what do you guys use to clean cages and vivs? I've been using Virosan (Nolvasan) from ProExotics, and it seems to be doing a pretty good job. I see a lot of herp sites that recommend bleach and water, but I'm concerned about fumes affecting animals from that.
Now, if I can just figure out where my Temp Gun went, lol! I probably won't find the old one until I order a new one.

If you fall into the categories recommended for flu shots, get a flu shot. I wish the media would stop trying to scare the bejeebers out of us all the time! I can't remember - do you guys ever breed any Rosy Boas? I'm biased, that was my first snake, & he's still around, doing demos with me!

I remember the media was going on about how a 4 year old dieing from swine flu in Texas, what they didn't say was that the little girl was a mexican immigrant...thanks border patrol.

The Swine Flu is scary to some and not to others. The ones that are scared of the Swine Flu would be someone like ME who lives only 7 miles from the border here in Texas, and where one person has already died in the next town over due to the Swine Flu. The ones that are not worried are the ones that are not even close to this area and look at it as it was blown out of proportion. I just hope no one else passes away due to this.Great show as always guys, keep up the great education!

Swine Flu doesn't bother me at all.
I admit, I was freaked out at first, I was on my computer, reading facts about the flu and the other dieseases that said had wiped out millions of people. I was in relief when I also read that Mexico's people die of Swine flu because of their bad medication and hospitals. I'm not worried about it all anymore. I'm not even worried about getting it and I highly doubt I would die. Your crew is the best, I hope Lori won't fire any of them. Great show this week!

the whole swine flu has only been looked at as a serious problem because the majority of the deaths have been from the people in Mexico dying, and that is because they don't have very efficient hospitals.

I think when something comes out that the experts that people go to don't understand, then it is quickly considered a great danger to everyone, Though there are some good reasons for taking some precautions, I think that the media definitely has a way of making something sound worse then what it actually is..

For some people it might be blown out of proportion but I live in texas and thats where its happening and you want to take all the precautions you can to not be sick. So in some ways they do blow it out of proportion but overall they're are just trying to raise awareness.

Swine flu is completely blown out of proportion. it's easily killed by a common anti-viral drug. the reason so many died was because they were in Mexico, where they could not afford the drug. Remember bird flu? That stuff is something to worry about with an 82% mortality rate.

The swine flu to us Americans means nothing. Everything is being blown way out of proportion because our country can easily help people with the swine flu rather than in Mexico where some of their water isn't clean and their hospitals aren't the best. If it does affect the U.S., it shouldn't really be much different than the normal flu. Great show as always!!

I think the main reason the WHO totally flipped their lid is because some of the adults who died in mexico weren't immunocompromised. Weird, huh?
