  • Never heard this version. VERY COOOOOOL!

  • Great Vid. Btw Warhol had plenty of talent. U dance w the devil U pay for the tune. R.I.P. Eddie.

  • Rest in peace Edie, we miss you !

  • Warhol was a no talent troll of a man who used people then discarded them when they no longer served a purpose to him. Both fed off each others insecurities.

  • jarileigh you have no idea how right you are,he'd have been less than nothing(though considering his actions,or lack thereof he was.)he did the same in the early 80's with Jean-Michele Basquiat.I wish EDIE were around now! Instead we are stuck with Paris Hilton&her witless compadres!COME BACK EDIE,WE LOVE YOU!

  • Very haunting. Loved this slide show so much I embedded it in my site. You can check it out at eclipseofthemoon-dot-net (had to spell it out to get past URL blocking). Just click on "story" go to reel 4 and scroll down till you find it. Also, you can add more Edie stuff, by scrolling to the right and dabbling with the wiki. Thanks for the content. And keep up the good work! B.

  • She needed peace from all the users. I hope she found it.

  • Such an Icon.

Such beauty used by all those filthy

people who sucked the youth and common sense

    out of her.

She still remains gorgeous in my eyes.

  • @MySuicideSilence No it was about Elvis and his affair with Quenn Elizabeth

  • @cookamidgera What? lol

  • @MySuicideSilence Consider that post added to the meaning of 'ludicrous' in the dictionary.

  • I know this is a stupid question, but was this song about her?

  • I remember this song from when i was a kid, I never forgot the line "the dogs lay at your feet, Edie"

Even as a little little kid that line held a lot of power to me.

  • Gone but never be forgotten

  • i feel so sorry for her.such strange life , karma or w/ever.i only hope that people who hurted her ,payed for what they did especially the monster she had to grow up with. ciao edie

  • a fama é uma merda... uma faca de dois gumes... inebria e engole as pessoas de personalidade fraca...

  • I wish Icould be like Edie. She was so amazing in every way.

  • am so in love with her....what a beauty...what a waist....

  • What a beauty. Not a waste. (: I love her too.

  • Edie forever!

  • Você era linda, Edie!!! Descanse em paz!!

  • 2:55 <3

  • screw andy he has no real talent should have lived in the south during the 60s and do some real work for social reform

  • You know nothing.

  • Comment removed

  • wow this gave me goosebumps it's very good

    Rip edie 1943-1971

    ip

  • RIP Edie.

  • I'm a huge fan of the CULT what version of EDIE is this thanks TREVOR

  • She was an angel...

  • everybody is responsible for own life..!!! so does Edie.

  • sucha poor beautiful darling

  • che bella questa canzone! che bella

  • Amazing song, I love this acoustic version. The Cult never received the credit they deserved.

  • so true.

  • Edie was always troubled. She was bound to fall sooner or later after her dad abusing her and her brother hanging himself.. and her other brother dying in the car accident.. that she was in as well. I believe that Andy took advantage of her but i dont think that bob dylan had a whole much 2 do with it

  • Bob Dylan caused her downfall actually.

  • no he didnt! it was andy he created her

  • LOL! Andy craved fame...Edie gave it to him..he was nothing before Edie, she was famous long before him!

  • @jarileigh She is famous long after he as well.

  • Just another lost soul. Like so many others from that era. Just a lost soul. {I know. I was there.}

  • She is gorgeous.

    Pause 2:56

  • Andy Warhol is the purpose of Edie's death. She wanted someone to help her and upon turning to him, he threw her aside, Warhol the man that makes dreams for himself and doesn't care who he hurts.

  • Your obviously just going by what you saw in factory girl

  • to the haters i dont get why you would watch this and talk shit. respect the dead, and all the "real" crap about oh she did drugs soo fake. yeah, different state of mind but inside you did not know her for fuck sakes nor were you there so shut the mouth.

"real" or not she was significant enough for you to come to this web page

  • I know a girl who is attempting to be her... its pretty lame.

  • Yeah, she was "real" alright. Amphetamine shot in one arm, heroin in the other. Uh huh, she was real.

  • IDIOT

  • oh god ..what is the point in people wtching this vid jst to put her down ..its totally ridiculous

edie was at cambridge studying art an was terribly good but she never really pursued it coz she wanted to well "find herself" and escape ...and people were telling her she could be HUGE so her mind was twisted a little i feel x.

So i guess she wasn't untalented ...jst everyone was on drugs in 1960's it was what was hip at the time she jst uhm got in too deep i guess

    absolute beauty x

  • Learn about her, assholes!!!

  • There's gotta be a good reason for the likes of Bob Dylan to have partially based 2 of his better known songs "Just like a woman" and "Like a rolling stone" on Edie Sedgewick, may she R.I.P.

  • I think that Edie--her, the whole package--is what makes her revolutionary...her mistakes, the drugs, the image, she is a superstar and will always be a legend...only those who understand the legend can apprectiate it

    I love you edie

  • It's a great song and suits Edie's persona very well. A lovely tribute.

  • She was a tragic icon of the underground scene in the late 60's and early 70's. Regardless of her background and DF mistakes she was a human being and it goes to show that money and fame does not always = happiness. She was beautiful and hip. R.I.P.

  • Jeez, if you don't like the video then simply do not comment! Is that so hard?

Edie was the ultimate superstar of New Yorks 60's and some of us love her so just back off!

  • Edie Sedgwick is obviously beyond your ability to understand and your capacity to comprehend.

  • She had a mental illness due to the drug addiction. I've been though it, you obviously don't have the advanced mind to understand stuff like that.

  • ooooooooooo SOMEBODYS JELOUS!!!!!! lol get over it she did have it hard she just didnt complain about 'poor little me' as much SOME people. cough cough. and can i ask what the hell is wrong with being happy being yourself? edie was an amazing person. end of story. stop being such a jelous loser and if ya dont like 'scrubbing floors' or whatever you do - DO SOMRTHING ELSE. and 'themodellife7' - you said it. i totally agree with you xx

  • Jealous? Hardly, edie had a short crappy life and never did anything but sit on her ass and look cool. She went through a huge inheritance in under a year through a child-like stupidity, ended up broke and dead at 27 . And I don't scrub floors asshole. I was just pointing out that a lot of people have it hard while fuckass stupid edie never did a goddamn thing but toss her life in the shitter.

  • ok ok if thats how you wanna look at things then you go ahead but bloody hell you must be a right anoying person to be around always self ritious, criticising everyone - what the hell did she ever do to you? did you know her personally?? do you have a drug addiction?? some things are waaaaaay more complicated than what they seem. but hey maybe youre a saint and never do anything wrong or make childlikem, stupid mistakes. =] go you. x

  • yes she made some like - REALLY REALLY dumb mistakes - but, like, she WAS human. we all make dumb mistakes. people don't love her for being a drug addict - people love her because she wasnt a fake. she was herself. and she had 'IT'. which most people can only hope to have. you think she was a twat - ok youre entitled to youre oppinion, you have youre own role models/heros/style icons/wotever =]

  • "IT"? She auditioned for parts in real movies and was always turned down, she had "shit", not "it".

  • "She was Real"...LOL we're all real.

  • you know what i mean lol =]

  • Unfortunately, I do. Whenever someone says "ohhh, he/she is soooo real" I know I got a dumbfuck on the line.

  • Comment removed

  • "real," and "it," notions such as these are social constructions. even the notion of "real"problems is laughable. you're both twats.

poor people don't have "real" problems no more than rich people have "fake" ones. both you "self"-absorbed shits can lick balls.

  • Yes, like this you can de-construct just about anything...

  • I love Edie Segwick.

    burning the world babyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!

  • this is such a great song, i'm looking for this song in a female voice. Do you know if this excist? I'm sorry for my bad english!

  • Female voice would not work......no one

would take it on...all know this is Ian's

    song...

  • This is beautiful the way the song is done,

    more fashionable with acoustics.

I didn't know this song was about Edie,

    really cool!

  • che bella canzone... ciao baby...

  • Comment removed

  • 'muchly love the song and pics'

  • Man, I used to have eyebrows like that but I plucked them into thin lines because I thought they were ugly. Dammit... what a beauty she was!

  • Two of my favorite people in the world,

    Edie Sedgwick and

    Little Edie Beale.

    Two very cool people.

  • coool :) thanks for the info.

  • at 2:56 is the proto-myspace picture. i've never ever seen a pre-2000s picture of someone at that angle (you know the "i took it myself" angle).

  • yes the I took it myself angle, is so post 2000s,

  • Jean Stein´s biography impressed me - also the movie CIAO MANHATTAN. Edie must have been a fascinating woman !!! So sad.

  • best version of the band

  • fuck you! you just see and judge.

do you know what she went through

  • i still think that she and andy completed each other, after she died he was never the same.

  • i almost started crying! i love edie! i wish she was still alive, i bet she was a blast to be around! and everything i've read and watched, she was!

  • Part of Edie's appeal is at least for me, what she represents. A time that will never come again, the 'Silver Sixties' the Factory, the scene in the underground & the excesses.

It's a bit like a dream now, seems really far off, in time & in concept. Can't go backwards. But it sure must have been something.

  • It sure was!

  • she brought something to new york and she put her life on film. people glorify fame by drugs and fashion. true fact; 85% of people wish to be famous and 1/3 of those people actually beleive it. why else are the tabloids out there... it's for all the want-2-Bs'. somebody tell me if i'm way off. i'm just expresssing my thoughts. either way this song is beautiful. it doesn't actually have to be about her. they use the name edie as a symbol maybe?

  • Actually, Ian Astbury said he wrote the song about her life. From what I can tell, he wrote about her while also reflecting on his failed relationship with Nico, and then her death which occured just before Sonic Temple was recorded. So, that's basically where the song is rooted.

  • taxi was a compulsive liar and manipulated people with her tears...

she's ask for drugs as if she'd die without another hit, only to add them to the stash in her foot locker.

taxi most likely wasnt as innocent as this song suggests...

  • innocence vulnarability...great persons with big qualities broken by life....

  • Humnanity...Anyone has something from her....braken wings....Highs and lows...

  • why does anyone love her???

the cult rock, but she, she was a waste of a pretty face.

what has she contributed to anyone?

  • Love you Ms. Edie ! :)

  • Im to young to .remember this gourgeous lady..it seems to be a ...Lovley creature a definition of beauty ..and excelence ...

  • well its so tempting..what 2 loose..life gets shity boring...why not die young and happy getting high like her?!...

  • life is not boring, if you do what you want

  • I love her .. I want to revamp my edie page but my lap with pics is at the factory:(

  • r u on speed? is it as good as she said...shall i give it a try?!...i love her 2!she breaks my heart....

  • Speed is the worst drug in the world. It starts killing your nerve cells the first time you take it. Look what to her.

Maybe you are getting too interested in this subject.

  • No, the tragidy is that she threw her life away from drugs ,now she isnt here:(

  • interesting, "acoustic" version of this strong track differs from "full on" version from the excellent album, "sonic temple." thanks for, finally, combining images of the little queenie, herself, with this inspired song. rock on...

  • Beautiful song, and she was a fabolous girl.

    I love her!

  • We all choose are own paths for better or worst. Even in our own self destruction when blindiness falls our feelings can betrey you to a problem with addiction.

  • Feelings are a powerful;l thing The diesese has got me alone and it toys with my brain every day every moment like Iam some kind of rag doll that can be thrown arown and thrown out with the trash when its all done!

  • Era super hermosa!!!

    Muy buenas pics!

  • Ciao Edie!

  • I think im gonna go take a bunch of barbituates and wash that down with some absolut. Then fall asleep with a cigarette in my hand as my tribute to Edie. Goodnight.

  • i'll do the same...my god am drunk and i'm feeling her so much..,

  • Or you can take a bunch of percocet or oxycontin and wash it down w/booze, since it's the exact same chemical composition as heroin - wasn't she a heroin addict? What a shame.

  • i cant stop crying...what a waist!

  • it made me cry too!I think there's so many of us who have that bit of 'Edie' in us.Lifes crazy.

  • Ciao, Bella Edie

  • andy was good at chewing them up and spitting them out....a bit of a parasite in my opinion

  • burning the world babyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Bellissimo il video!

Dove hai reperito tutto il materiale fotografico? Mi piace.

    Ciao!

  • Brava bel video

  • Edie = Love.. ;)

  • lovely!!

  • she looks like a boy.. i wonder shy

  • No she does not.

  • I´m sorry, what is "youthquaker"? Could anybody describe me that?

  • Like a trendy influential person....earthquake / youthquake...shake things up....get it?

  • yeah. Thank U. :)

  • a quaker is a nonconformist someone that go's there only way "a free spirt" why the hell would he sing about a trendy girl when its mostly to do about edie them ?

  • It's hard to see why people liked Andy, because he was so selfish, but maybe his friends saw some kind of potential for good in him. I'm sure that's how people see Edie, that in spite of her flaws there was something wonderful in her waiting to come out.

  • Have you read her bio? She was an american tragic, a woman who was very talented and butiful but troubled and lost. The whole story of her life is sad thats why so many people still talk about her. Her family were very abusive she ran to Harvard then NY basically whoral used her up and spat her out. that was the last straw. she will always be in my heart.

  • i had a dream about her and i told her to say hi to andy warhol

  • Edie was and will always be a beautiful part of that era! I hope that she can see how there are still people who love her here from heaven!

    love you edie :-)

  • dear Edie i miss you<3

you were too young when u died

    i love you

  • I love Edie Segwick.

  • I love u Edie...

  • God, what a face!

  • Is the song version singed by The Cult as well?

  • yes its definitely the cult can tell by ians voice although i'm not sure what album or where it is from. i've never heard this version before.

  • It's from Sonic Temple. A great song from a lousy album.

  • O i know the original version was on sonic but this 1 wasn't.

  • it's acoustic version

  • beutiful song sad this is the story of many people and many more 2 come thank u

  • don't watch factory girl

    its a good movie

    but

there is barely fact in it it is completly flawed

  • RIP Edie Sedgwick! This is sad!

  • Edie was so vulnerable. Without being abused by Andy, she would have been damaged somehow. I believe she was already mentally damaged even before she met Andy.

Poor factory girl... May she rest in peace.

By the way, if you want to know more about Edie Sedgwick, start with the movie 'Factory Girl'.

  • what's the title of the song? Who sings it?

    I'm dead-curious.

  • The song is called "Edie (Ciao Baby)" and The Cult is singing it

  • thanks for posting, you chose a great song

  • I adore EDIE!!! RIP
