THE BEST FUCKIN' BAND EVER, NO QUESTION OF ALL TIME. C'MON PEOPLE "THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERED", now who could get that said about them, ever? hmmmmmmmmm?
The most important band EVER! Saw them 5 times live but only twice with this line up. They tore the fucking roof off! I love Mick's Mott the Hoople look and Paul's mullet!
Wow, is this old school. Mick has hippie hair, Joe has a pompadour and Paul looks like he's sporting a mullet! Great stuff though. Saw them here (N'awlins) at the Warehouse With local legend Lee Dorsey (Workin' in a Coal Mine) opening for them. Smokin' good show. The Clash is gone & the closest thing we had (The Libertines) self-destructed. Batter Up!!!
I was there at this recording. City rokers done on one take but tommy gun was done three times. Not my fav clash song but what a fucking frontman Joe was RIP.
The Clash is my dad's favorite punk band. I realized this fact even more when I just now noticed that his hair has looked almost exactly like Joe Strummer's since his college years. I wonder if this is a coincidence...
@plaidmoose If The (Mighty) Clash are your Dads favourite band then listen to what he has to say. He should be sound in Every respect. And a dude too ;o)
@Spraycando Oh I definitely listen to his opinions. They're the only ones that make the most sense to me. I've learned more from him about making a living and doing things for myself than I have from anyone else. And I can't thank him enough for introducing me to The Clash. This band has taught me so much.
Though you can't really understand what he's saying, I dont care about lyrics, cause these guys had enough passion for punk rock that they didnt have to ace it! thats the message they taught us. Joe Strummer WE REMEMBER YOU!!!
@practicallyclassic really? because i was watching this video (link wont work) (type the clash tommy gun top of the pops in the search bar) and its the very same perfomance. I am very confused as I thought the Clash never played top of the pops because it wasnt live....
@chloeag321 The caption is wrong then. The Clash never played TOTP, although if you get a chance, try to find 'Legs and Co,' dancing to Bank Robber on TOTP. Hilarious. 'The Oxford Road Show' was a different thing and the bands always played live. I'm not positive it was ORS, just pretty sure.
@indielad13 i agree we have to make do with libertines, bombay bicycle club, maccabees and artic monkeys. who are still awsome but will never live up to the clash and the jam
Damn, that was a great performance! It's so rare to see Mick and Paul come in for ALL their vocal parts. Chances are they were told to keep it as true to the studio recording as possible for this TV show.
@frenchdweeb999 he is totally tuning it, it had fallen *miles* off. Mind you, part of the unique Clash sound was Mick's guitar being miles out of tune. Spent ages trying to get that guitar tone and realized the trick is to leave shitty old strings on your guitar for way too long and it will never stay in tune - instant intro to Pressure Drop.

They have nothing to say that hasn't already been said a billion times before. Bands like the clash had plenty to say, and can still be heard for those not fooled by the 'X'
@rp61wasinnocentok I'm a fan of the Clash, B.A.D., Havana 3 am etc. I've actually seen them live along with The Ramones and The Jam. I have to tell you that you've been brainwashed pretty bad like the the majority of "punk rockers." You're comment is bullshit and it's so far up your ass it isn't funny!
@nkmcfrln It's seems odd that someone who's seen those bands would have a go at someone for slating a karaoke scene that's gone mad. And not only that, but saying all punk rockers are brainwashed. Now that IS funny, and I do declare sir that it's you who whiffs of bullshit...
@salvadory true enough, but I said that because it was a slogan back in the day put out by their record label which everyone used to refer to the Clash. I still have my worn out t-shirt that says it. : )
