@TrailsandTunes it's going to be harder to progress when your using nature as your only resource whereas with skateboarding there are much more ramps and more tricks to do, surfing is just limited

@Reecey42 surfing is limited by the fact that it uses waves as it's only resources, ill happily agree to that. But a large portion of ski/board and certain MTB aspects such as big mountain use un-altered natural terrain as their only resource.

Surfing seems to me to be the one of the least progressive sports out there, there is next to no trick progression and there can be little variation in waves. Then again, i know nothing about surfing at a decent level so who am i to judge..

@TrailsandTunes Thanks for your comment! Surfing is always going to be a sport that progresses slower than BMX/Skate the ocean & waves are never stable & always unpredictable! But this year we have seen surfing kickflips, huge rodeos, supermans, the biggest wave ever surfed, river waves in China......there is progression in the sport!!! Hell, we've gone and made a playlist just for you! "Surfing Progression in 2011"

Although the river wave in china was cool, it's the same style of surfing, merely in a different location; this is what bores me with surfing, there are not distinct disciplines such as in MTB, but it just appears to be incredibly limited. cont...

@xwhite2020 You complain about trick sports being boring because there are just spins? basically a lack of variation... in my opinion, surfing is pretty much entirely lacking variation. Also, you don't need to be landing tricks for your sport to be progressing; look at the way FR/big mountain MTB has progressed in the last couple of years or Big mountain skiing also recently. <-- they aren't necessarily landing tricks off of everything but they are still progressing.

@TrailsandTunes I think it's more a case of you knowing nothing about surfing. Like I know nothing about BMX and to me I haven't seen any trick progression and it all looks the same to me. But that's a result of me knowing nothing about it. An aspect that often gets overlooked is that surfing is harder than other extreme sports and takes longer to master. A skateboarder can skate the exact same pipe day in day out and perfect his/her tricks,in surfing no two waves are the same.
