  • hahaha just imagine yourself doing this in a public pool. Everyone would think there's something wrong with you!

  • I SEEK POLE SHIFT SURVIVAL GROUP.

  • swimming is nearly perfect for reshaping oneself. No doubt.

  • Either Sam has gills or you've edited out his breathing. When I do this drill, I find myself getting pretty tired and needing to breathe after every arm entry. Not to compare myself to a world class swimmer, but should I be trying to breathe less frequently and slow this drill down or what?

  • @glazier7 Haha, a bit of both. Most swimmers will need to breath after every entry or two. That's fine, as longs as you do the drill right.

  • wow, next time i should do a effortless doggy paddle drill and post it online too!

  • @Meowws Long dog paddle is good drill to do. It reduces your resistance under the water

  • @roxsasthesecond....that's up to the athlete to decide. But I'm 63 and I swim a workout every day. I still compete. The guys I grew up with who played football have been on the couch for 40 years.

  • when the arms are entering the water to pull, shoudn't they be at an angle, and not fully extended?

  • @XsloanneyX Usually, depends on your technique

  • Is swimming better than football?

  • @roxsasthesecond ofc,

swimming is the most complete sport :) you work all parts of the body, overcoat shoulders, back and arms swimming is healtier than footbal cuz you dont damage any articulations into the water

  • @roxsasthesecond Depends on what you like. In terms of fitness I believe swimming is better as it uses your entire body. The biggest things is injuries in football. I know guys who can hardly move because of what they have put their body through. On the hand, I know swimmers who are in their 70's and still really fit.

  • @roxsasthesecond swimming burns the most calories out of any sport and if you do this sport year round your body will be perfect

  • @adamyo24 that's bull. I've seen plenty of regular, strong swimmers with terrible bodies (fat & overweight). Also, both running and cycling burn way more calories than swimming. Unlike them though, swimming works pretty much the entire body.

  • great

  • I have read the article in effortless-swimming web site. I have questions concerning several things mentioned in the article :

    1. It is said that swimmers who did the drills given had improved their SPL from 44 to 32. What is the length of the Lap ? I have counted the average SPL of Grant Hackett in the race of 1500m at 2008 Olympic, i.e 30 or 31 with continuous 4-6 beat kicks.

    2. What is the drill you suggest to help swimmer in order to be able to do this 4-6 beat kick continuosly ?

  • @lexsoft The swimmers that had those results did it in a 50m pool swimming at a medium pace. When you are racing your stroke count will be higher. Hackett can swim a 50m in less than 25 strokes comfortably.

Vertical kick is good drill to practice kicking

  • it helps holding ur breath for longer

  • @dodomuro2 I don't think so. I helps swimmer getting good catch and body rotation. But, in order to do this drill, it requires a lot of kicking and holding breathing longer. Huh.. I know the use of the drill, but when it turns into practice, It could be exhaustive for me.

  • Thanks for the video. You mentioned to use fin if kick is weak, would it not be bad to became a habit and you became relying on fin? I really struggle without fin..Cheers

  • 25.5s in 50yards. <3

  • 30.57 in 50 m free under 12. This really helped

  • nice drill for starters! thanks a lot!

  • Thanks a lot!

  • How does this help? this is nice but what part of your free style does this help?

  • Great question, it helps swimmers practice the correct entry position with a high elbow recovery. Too often swimmers enter with their arm extended too much or too little, and this drill encourages you focus on the correct position. -Brent

  • @EffortlessSwimming this is interesting because i've just seen a video with Natalie Coughlin and i noticed that she extends her arm too much and beats water too strong. But anyway she is a champion.

i suspect that this is because she is a sprinter and some rules are not applicable to her. if this is the case may be you should some description about this. something like 'for stayers only'. no?

  • @uuuummm9 There's more than one way to swim freestyle. As long as your kick and pull is strong and your body position is correct you can swim reasonably fast.

  • the entry of your arms and your body rotation

  • nvrmind about the rotation i watched a vid on rotation be4 this.sorry

  • This has very helped my Freestyle thanks alot!
