  • haha I love it.

  • KKK

  • that's painful to watch

  • You went to spiral. When the bank angle exceeds, the airspeed increses very fast and the ailerons get sluggish.

  • I for one have experienced several DSM2 lockouts on multiple aircraft, with AR7000 rx's

  • go FUTABA FASST

  • @DanielMadrigalC I will never turn to the dark side!

  • From looking at the video, it looks as if there was a strong head wind. If you look closely, the model appears to lose airspeed on the down wind turn and 'tip-stalls'.

It's oh so easy to blame radio problems. Belive me i'm to blame as well, but this is not usually the case (-:

  • 2 things. 1 - there was nothing Hyperion about that plane. It was a kyosho airframe, not a Hyperion (they dont make any jets.)

and 2. THE CRASH WAS CAUSED BY A MARGINAL EXTENSION LEAD PLUG ON THE AILERON CHANNEL. One pin had been pushed back into the plug so was not contacting properly. It had nothing to do with DSM2.

  • @toasttsaot Yeah I know, I got the title wrong (too late, too tired when I did it) but Grant never said anything to me about an extension causing the issue when he parted with the "wreckage" that now sits in the scrap pile on my workshop floor.

  • @xjet Its a shame. Looked like a nice little plane. Any chance of a re-build?

  • @toasttsaot that was a lock out man if it was what you said you would of had rudder up and these ailerons where on individual channnel so if it was what you said only the output that was not connected would get no response so your wrong Dsm2 lock out these radios suck

  • @toasttsaot spektrum suck hobby king radios are better than this cra$

  • u see that guys shorts..

  • I hear a lot of the problems are being caused by SOME cheaper radio systems 'washing' the dsm2 frequencies out. Why can the American's put 78 trojans in the air at once and still have transmitters on in the pits? I understand that they aren't all using dsm2, but they still made up a large proportion. All in the sky. At once. Just saying that it could be something as simple as a faulty extension lead.

  • @yeahnahbe Building a sub-standard system like DSM2 and then blaming other systems for wiping it out is not really a valid argument. The 2.4GHz band is pretty much a "free for all" and is now quite noisy. DSM2 may have been fine a few years ago when the band was relatively quiet but these days it's a very hostile place and (based on my own tests and reports in the field), DSM2 just doesn't provide enough insurance against that hostility any longer.

  • buy a new radio

  • @xjet please can u tell me the measurements of a 5lb pulse jet

and a cross section of any of your pulse jet pj8c or pj15 i have also read ur book but unable to calculate

i also want to know that how much and how do u supply the spark plug electricity is there any +ve and -ve terminal or no reply soon getting late for science fair project cannot make a jam jar jet need a proper one thank u

  • Just out of interest, what Tx & Rx combo are you running...?

    Q:)

  • @Quokka57 I fly a cheap old FlySky (iMax branded) 9X (like the Turnigy 9X) with FrSky FHSS module/receivers and a JR9XII (9303) with FrSky FHSS module/receivers. The radio used in the Lear Jet (not mine) was a JR DSX9 with a Spektrum receiver of some kind (don't know which one).

  • @xjet Thanks for the reply - I was meaning the Tx/Rx in the Lear Jet.

Do you know if it was running a genuine Spektrum DSM2 Rx module, or one of those cheap Chinese knock-offs?

    Q:)

  • @Quokka57 It was a geniune Spektrum -- with a satellite receiver as well.

  • Mmm not sure what your saying here mate as the statement under the video says it was a DSM2 lockout but then you respond to a comment saying you don't really know what happened and all you can say is a few different things could of caused it/unexplained,so why say it was DSM2 lock out in the video description??? not having a go Bruce just wondering how you came up with this thats all mate ;-) still shame about the jet though.

  • @startazz We don't (with absolute certainty) the cause of the lockout but the pilot (and observers) are pretty much certain that once the model left the ground it stopped responding to the pilot's commands. Given the known weaknesses of DSM2, the fact that other DSM2 systems have crashed almost at exactly the same spot and that it was a busy meeting with a lot of 2.4GHz radios in operation - the likelihood is very much that it was a DSM2 lockout.

  • I know what that feels like to have radio failure

  • @rzennrer I think 2.4 ghz is becoming the standard

  • What happened? Was the crash due to malfunction or human error?

  • @mythicalhell The cause of the "unexplained loss of control" will probably never be known. Everything worked fine after the crash. It could have been due to many possible causes but all we know for sure is that the airframe was a total write-off.

  • @xjet Wow! I would have been sooooo bummed if she was mine! Anyway, I do love your channel and look forward to future videos! :)

  • I hate when it happens

  • reversed ailerons FTW.

  • Enjoy your expensive crap. Wont happen with good old Assan. ;)

  • ususally you get a lose of power on EDF trying to feed off the esc, when in doubt, use a seperate bec so you alwas get power no matter what the esc's are pulling.

and that plane just got a little less collectable

  • wat ? i switch to 2.4 cos it a beter tegnology and 100% safe I heave to tink twais or go back wit my 72

  • Please would someone explain DSM lockout. Jez

  • @pyrexia2 Lockout is when the radio stops responding. In this case, the plane stopped responding shortly after starting its climb and a left-hand turn following take-off. It can be cause by a number of different things, including low voltage and interference. DSM2 systems are more susceptible to both these things than most other systems on the market. DSM2 is showing its age and sometimes has trouble coping with noise on the 2.4GHz band.

  • How do you know the cause and what exactly do you mean by lock-out? I am also using DSM2

  • Oh, that's a shame...

Is that because of interference with other transmitters or does it just randomly happen?

  • 10 points for DSM2

  • that's why i use futaba
