Saddam Hussein was well known for co-locating command control and offensive military installations with civilian structures such as mosques or houses. We'll never know if this is why all these people were killed, it's tragic either way, regardless of the reasons.
Saddam Hussein was a big dumbass. He thought that he was given a signal to invade after US ambassor said she has no opinion on the Kuwait border. He should have not invaded Kuwait in the 1st place. He's the one that cause all of this happen. More Kuwaiti citizens died by the hands of Iraqi Army than this incident during the seven month Iraqi occupation of Kuwait. 100,000 Kurds were also murdered and gassed by Saddam Hussein in 1988 as well.
@OliverEnigmatic And Iraq need to stay away from Kuwait. This would have not happened had Saddam not invaded Kuwait. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait is our ally and they ASKED for our help. We cannot tell them to f**k themeselves and fend for themselves. SA doesn't have a strong military. That is how civilian casualties it has been for thousands of years, the same thing happened in WWII. But Saddam are known for sheltering civilians so they could blame on the US.
So you support killing children so they won't grow up to become suicide bombers. hmmmm
What about the thousands who witnessed this? That is to say the USA behaving in this manner. Intentionally killing women and children. Don't you think they'll might become suicide bombers, maybe to revenge their child's death?
Maybe they'll be smarter than that and attack the USA in some other manner.
We can't win this war by making more enemies.
Don't be so stupid... you sound like a psychopath.
I 100% agree, and i PLEDGE TO RESIST. Americans are so fuckin brainwashed and ignorant, it makes me feel sick to live in the country that borders them (canada). People need to wake up, and smell the freedom (with no america)
Strange isnt it.Make a bomb shelter for civillians look like a military bunker.....But anyway, who invaded Kuwait???Or was Saddam just visiting? Or pricing a new Mecedes Benz?
So the invasion by Iraq was just to see how the neighbours are doing? They would have been safer staying in their houses....If it looks military,it gets bombed...US intelligence sections just follow that logic.Mind you,so does every other military of the world. They can drop a bomb within a 3 metre square,so a bigass military looking bunker is hard to miss or hide? So why build one large one instead of lots of smaller ones?Saddam still lived like a king during the sanctions, and the rest suffered.
There are more than 5 dozens of public, civil bunkers in my hometown. 1/3 of them is as big as the al-Amiriya bomb shelter and lots of them have AA towers. One is built for up to 100.000 people. What is it that makes a bunker look military? Stop reapeating that propaganda shit, it'll become very embarrassing one day, you idiot.
Ed, you ask, why were there kids in the bomb shelter? That's a very silly question. Hadn't you heard? There was a war going on... Bomb shelters are a place for civlians to hide from a war. We had one in our shcool when i was growing up in the USA.
All the men were either watching the home or fighting the war.
The only thing biased is the US news coverage of the event at the time, which focused on the technology of the bombs used.
i'll tell you people something, god is gonna make us pay for this it's unfair to believe that we are victimise and what about them aren't they victims ?
The rest are freedom fighting civlians, who see you as occupiers, not liberators, simply because you keep blowing them up with what is tantamount to carpet bombing of urban areas. And then you go and pathetically try to justify what you are doing by claiming youre there to 'help muslims'
It doesnt even enter your minds that they dont want you there. Iraq did not start the war, even if it did, the annual civilian death rate has risen from 25,000 under saddam, to 65,000 since the official end of the fighting. U.S. soldiers are poorly trained and dont know how to deal with the fact that there isnt just one group of people you shoot at, the enemy you fight are actually civilians with officials in the military reporting that only 1% of clashes are with talian forces.
Yes ignorant american, but with all your Vietnam and WW2 films where america saves everybody, you dont realise that this is a war with no clear enemy, and your policy of 'having more troops on the ground = better results' doesnt work for buggery, as you are fighting a series of nomads, who have been this way for centuries. You go send in an army with massive firepower, but with no education and total ignorance to that area of the world and expect to enforce democracy.
Get your facts straight. It was not a Phosphorus bomb. They were standard 2000lb GBUs. And perhaps if Saddam didn't want his people do die, he should not have invaded and occupied his neighbor. It's war, people die. It's sad, but it's a fact. Was it unfortunate? YES. Was it preventable? Perhaps. But it was WAR. A war that IRAQ started because it wanted oil money. Started by a crazed psychopath of a dictator. Blame Saddam, he was the one that caused American bombs to rain down on Baghdad.
i remember my cousin was there to rescue the people. he said the doors locked automatically and he saw people screeming begging from windows to get them out. Some of them were already burning, kids, women, men, chrsitians, muslims and many it was sad. Still feel it now
This is horrible, innocent people hiding away from the war and WHAT does america do?..they bomb them..i think this is just as worse maybe even more worse then 9/11 because innocent children and women and families who never asked to be part of a war died, sad that the media wasnt as intrested in this as they were 9/11
That is why the world is unfair..im sorry to say this but its as if we revolve around America.
I remember when it happened, i was in the USA and listening to the US media.
know what they said?
They praised the resoursefulness and cleverness of the people who made the bunker buster bomb, and the technology that could guide a "smart" bomb through the hole in the roof.
Most American are hipocryt first they support Bush when he first invade Iraq. But when bush fail they against him. They only care for him if hes a winner and they are careless about life in others countries by heart. They pretending to walk around holding sign saying no war in Iraq only the face not their heart.
Yes, that bunker being blown up with so many civilians inside was tragic. However, it was a bunker, it was a war, a war started by Iraq invading Kuwait. Taking this out of context is great for your propaganda, but I will exercise my right to resist
Bodies were completely burned. I remember one woman who was burned but she hold her baby in her arms and he was alive. their smell still there. The guard of the shelter now swear they hear babies playing and some voices of people calling them in almost every night. Very sad may God rest their souls
You don't have a clue about Islam, you egotistic racist. People interpret things differently and religion is no different. I urge you to read the Koran, and be a little less hostile towards things you know nothing about, because Muhammed preached no pro-Muslim/anti-everyone else.
So let's lets see...all Muslims read the Koran? So they all read the same instruction manual? So that means they will all build the same thing? Death and destruction? Why are "good" Muslims out in the streets protesting Al-Queda (sp)? I'll tell you why, they all follow Muhammad who preaches that non-Muslims are total fucking pieces of SHIT !!! So fuck'em.
I would love to debate with a Muslim face to face. I would love for them to show me the light. But it hasn't happened.

Although a tragedy, the Amiriyah shelter was a Warsaw-pattern military bunker, the Americans didn't know it was being used as a civilian shelter.

It is funny about USA they talk about Hitler all time and 6 millions JEWS when you do same thing as Hitler.

1) it takes two crazed psychopaths to have a war
2) anyone who intentionally targets a bomb shelter is a special category of crazed... regardless of the type of bomb used.
3) seeing the damage firsthand, it seems unlikely that it was two identical bombs of any type.
