Jill's version frustrates me. At least with Chris it happens so fast you don't have time to react. And even if you do react, how do you combat a giant shark infested with the T-virus inside a tank? Jill had enough time to stand up and gape stupidly while Richard was being swallowed. At least shoot at the fucking snake or something!!

Poor Richard. Its not fair, he was a kind hearted person who lives to protect those. Info from Umbrella Chronicles said that he joined S.T.A.R.S cuz his younger sister got killed. So he dedicated his life to protect others he can. Its really sad he didnt survive.
