She wanted Rin to feel the pain of having the one she loves killed in front of her, because Rin had her (Meiko's) lover executed when he went to appeal to Rin to give the citizens more food and money.

According to Akuno-P's blog, Rin and Len's parents died of sickness when the twins were still very young. Rin, being the oldest, was chosen to be queen. Meanwhile, Len was taken away a taught how to cook, clean, and do other servant duties. Upon his return, he became Rin's servant and vowed never to be away from his beloved sister again.

@Sye216 Oh, but quite frankly, those videos contain interesting character development and I for one was unhappy to see them non-canon and disproved. Rather than forgetting about them one can see them as the fanon to Mothy's canon. I for one still like to incorporate Meiko's ending into canon (she knew about the switch, but didn't do anything about it). Mothy doesn't seem to disprove that point, and it gives Meiko's character additional depth and darkness in a very dark series.

Making Rin suffer by killing the closest person to her, exactly like Rin made her suffer by killing her father, seemed to Meiko as more equitable than just executing Rin. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. This cements Meiko's position as the swordsman of bloodred, the daughter of vengeance.

When Rin and Len were born, they were separated by adults for selfish reasons. Rin became the princess and Len her servant. Rin loved Kaito(Prince of the blue country) but Kaito loved Miku(Green) so Rin got jealous. Len also loved Miku, so that made Rin even more envious. Miku wanted to stop the evil reign of Rin, so she married Kaito just to make her jealous. Meiko, who also had a loved one killed by Rin led the people to the court, where Len switched places with Rin to protect her.

Extra details: Rin ordered Len to kill Miku, and since Len loved Rin so much (as a twin in this story), he did, even though he also loved Miku. Message of Regret is when Rin sends out a bottle containing a Regret message(as you can see at the end of the official Servant of Evil). In Re_Birthday, Len receives the message and is saved from his suffering from his sins of killing Miku. In the end, they are all reborn as vocaloids.

There is something in here that isn't spoken. Killing Miku was also a plan to take over the blue country. Miku never loved Kaito, just a mere plan to take over his country. Meiko killed herself finding out that she killed the wrong person, Kaito killed himself to be with Miku (yet again, who never loved him)
