@Baadify akhi u said if 'Jahannam isn't an Arabic word, why did Allah mention it in Qur'an'? Lol please don't expose ur ignorance! There are countless non-Arabic words in the Qur'an! Is isra'eel Arabic? Names like Musa, Isa, Zakariyya are all non-Arab! If Jahannam is an Arabic word, what is its root?? Please study Arabic before calling others dope...
Obviously if the surah was 9AH, so it came 12 years after Abu taalibs death. Therefore it obviously applies to people who have died as non believers, I.e Abu taalib
Surah Taubah was revealed in the 9th year of Hijra.
Abu Talib died in the 3rd year before Hijra.
Thus there is a 12 year gap between the two events meaning the verse about praying for your polytheist relations has nothing to do with Abu Talib (as)
Abu Jahl and ‘Abdullah bin Abi Omaiyah addressing him said: "Abu Talib, would you abandon the religion of ‘Abdul-Muttalib?" The Messenger of Allâh (Allah bless him and give him peace) constantly requested him (to accept his offer), and (on the other hand) was repeated the same statement (of Abu Jahl and ‘Abdullah bin Abi Omaiyah) — till Abu Talib gave his final decision and he stuck to the religion of ‘Abdul-Muttalib and refused
@QuranTafseer ... That is no proof he did not become a Muslim. Muwiya (Rad) did not accept Islam from the beginning, he took time before he made the decision. So get lost.
It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire. (9:113)
Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.(28:56)
One fails to understand the significance of wasting time and energy to keep bringing such an issue to life as if they have a place reserved in paradise and now its there business to find out where others are biggest disease of the time how about putting your self in check i gues thats harder easy to look ad others then our sick hearts how about worrying about your state and where you would be,would that help you in faith or believe are these the questions in the GRAVE ?not that i can remember
If he died a Muslim then why did ali (RA) refuse to bury him... His own father !!! And what happend to the Hadith where the prophet asked him 3 times to become Muslim and in the end abu talib chose the religion of his forefathers, being a mushrik. Nonsense, telling ppl stupid things because he is clever with words. Bet you if you show this daleel he would find a way to disregard it and make up something to cover it up !!!
And just to add, I take it you are in Liverpool considering you know this situation so well in which case you will be aware of how some peoples approach is causing seperation in the community. Usually by the 'He's our shaykh' type maureeds. As a sufi myself, I still believe adab applies to all..more so if one possess such high rank as you claim.
Theres no excuse for poor adab, regardless of who you are. And in terms of myself, as i do not you, you do not know me. To raise people up to a level were others excuse their poor adab is not good. As the saying goes - look at the student to know about the teacher. I will take it you are a student. Khalas akhi.
@anotheropinionplease Wether it is good adab or not, everyone has a right to give an opinion, this is YOUTUBE. Videos get posted, people leave comments, wether you agree or not makes no difference. If your comments were stating that you thought the video was fine, then ok, but your comments are essentially putting down the brother for having an opinion. As it is a reflection on our inward state, we are all as bad as eachother. Quite simple really , Youtube=Video=comments. Wether you agree or not
If you're in a position to judge him on how to handle such situations, then surely you can advise him! Allah does know best but Sheikh Ibrahim knows better than you, rest assured my friend.
@anotheropinionplease Think you need to have a look where we are..This is YouTube...if videos are going to be posted then expect responses, wether you like agree with it or not.
Bismillah. I think it would be in our best interest to have adab, and at the least caution, regarding the issue. Making takfir upon anyone is a heavy issue, let alone upon the one who cared for the Messenger, salallahu'alayhi wassalam, through his childhood. Allah alone knows his iman, and his status.
Regardless of this, this "brother" (our respected shaykh!) mentions that there is ikhtilaaf/disagreement on this issue anyway. We should hold our tongues out of adab.
@whisperofpeace1 Bismillah.. Everything you said regarding Adaab is 100% CORRECT & that cant/should'nt therefore wont be refuted by me BUT the brother ERRED on the issue about there being difference of opinion/disagreement on this issue.THERE'S NEVER BEEN A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION AMONGST THE SCHOLARS.Check the Hadiths for yourself Abu Talib DID NOT ACCEPT ISLAM,Nabi {S.A.W} TRIED but when everyone else walked in the room,he didnt take his shahadah
@whisperofpeace1 .The reason Mercy will be shed on him getting the SMALLEST punishment is because of what he did for his beloved nephew {S,A,W} for even Abu Jahl's punishment will be lightened EVERY MONDAY due to the happiness he expressed of freeing slaves due to Nabi's {S.A.W} birth, can we conclude he died with Imaan as well. Not 1 Hadith ever stated Abu Talib dying with Imaan but either way we wont be asked about this,May Allah Ta'ala guide us ALL
@abdullahalmahmood Those that have NO knowledge concerning any part of the Shariah, I would take NO part in debating because it'll turn into an everlasting arguement even IF Daleel was given to you via Hadith, you'll say it's Daeef according to such & such, & if that's not your arguement then you'll mention the Ayaat you just mentioned so to each is own
@abdullahalmahmood Typical deviant to argue without any proof, words of advice SALAFIYAH/WAHABISM is a JOKE.. IF IT AINT SUNNAH IT AINT ISLAM & IF IT AINT MADHAB THEN IT AINT SUNNAH FOR THATS HOW IT BEEN FOR OVER 1000 YEARs AND THAT's HOW IT'LL REMAIN NO MATTER HOW HARD U DEVIANTS WORK YOU'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO PUT OUT ALLAH TA'ALA's LIGHT
Read a couple of books & become Maulana SUBHANA'ALLAH TA'ALA
@AfwaunMuMeen so then my freind, let us see, EXACTLY how you spoke without knowledge by you contradicting what the qur'aan says
ALLAHswt SAYS in surahalahzaab, in the last page, those who were lead and misguided by their mushrik leaders, ie abu jahl/abu lahb, will come crying to allah, and say, yaa laytanaa, had we followed allah and the messenger.... OH ALLAH, WE OBEYED OUR LEADERS, AND THEY MISGUIDED US, OH ALLAH, DOUBLE THEIR MPUNISHMENT, AND CURSE THEM GREATLY,
to profess that there is no true god but Allâh. Upon this the Messenger of Allâh (Allah bless him and give him peace) remarked: "By Allâh, I will persistently beg pardon for you till I am forbidden to do so (by Allâh)".
It was then that Allâh, the Magnificent and Glorious revealed this verse:
@Baadify akhi u said if 'Jahannam isn't an Arabic word, why did Allah mention it in Qur'an'? Lol please don't expose ur ignorance! There are countless non-Arabic words in the Qur'an! what?????
Abu jahls punishment will be lightened every monday????? from where do you get dishonest saying?
does the qur'aan not say, "laa yukhaffafu 'anhumul 'athaab"
their punishment will never be lightened for them, and neither will they be shown pitty/reprievation"
somewhere in surah baqarah.explicitly.
i wonder why you speak without knowledge thought?

im not seeking an argument, and dont go off track dribbling about something that neither of us mensioned, ie taqleed..
is it not proof that in surah baqarah says laa yukhaffafu'anhumul 'athaabu walaa yuntha.......
ARE YOU DENYING THIS AYAH.I HOPE FOR YOUR SAKE YOU ARE NOT.
you just cannot accept that you have spoken without knowledge, and it has been spotted.

thereafter, allah will double the punishment for those leaders who misguided the gullible, people like abu jahl.
secondly, allah will increase their punishment EVEN AFTER THAT, and allah will turn up the heat for them at time interval that he swt only knows.
"everytime it shows abatement, We shall increase for them the Fierceness of the Fire"
im sure its in surah nahl. again this contradicts what you said, and the dishonesty that you displayed.
