amazing! i have seen flutes like these on amazon.com that do not cost a lot of money.. I really want to get one to play at the beach! Wind instruments are the one that I have never tried..
@mr252307 The instrument in the background is Veena - it's a string instrument, very similar to Sitar. And the drums is called "Tabla", which is a two piece percussion instrument played while sitting down.
I remember hearing this as a small child, many years ago at a temple concert to raise funds for constructing a new shrine. Although it was a venu & more high pitched in tone, I can recall with clarity the tablas accompanying it, and the mantra that followed; Om Nama Shivaya.
If like me you would like to listen to this again and again and again, you can install 'GreaseMonkey' add-on for Firefox and then 'Better Loopy for YouTube'. Just Google it. Now I work in my office while listening to this heavenly music playing in the background.
Soothing............. to hear Bansuri..........simply i would like to thanks to all those have contributed to make this such a nice presentation available for us here.
You are very gifted thankyou for showing us your cultures music i plan on buying one of these could you tell me what key your bansuri is in this video? :)
I know I've probably asked this before, and if I have I apologize for my forgetfulness, hehe, but what taal are you using and how many beats in the taal?
I'm not properly educated in music, but this piece of music makes me think of a moonlit night. In European Classical music we might call this a nocturne.
@harrifer3000 Many ragas have a specific time of day or season, and Shivaranjani is a night raga. Also, to vidaripollen, the musician is Hariprasad Chaurasia, the most well known bansuri player.
@LynxMajic ..The early section is a freeform improvisation which expresses the general emotion or feeling of the ragam. That sort of thing is common in this music. The second half is not completely improvised.
You play flute so sweet n soft, only i wana tell you that u given interview, u said, Raga Shivranjani is mixer n filmi song on Jane kaha gaye O din, but tune most is like, Mere Naina Sawan Bhado, firbhi mera man pyasa , and O Piya piya tune bhuladiya i guace any how so nice u play, i am also learning flute.
Who made the tablas? They are some of the best-sounding (especially the baya) I've ever heard. Also, if you know, where could I find ones like them sold (India, U.K., U.S.; wherever)
So beautiful - perfect for meditation in the morning. It does remind me a bit of Paul Horn - what do you think? But he did not have the Tablas - so lovely and warm. Thanks so much for posting this video.
