Had to watch this my Freshman year of high school for a Film Studies class. I'm not a freshman in college and this still remains one of my favorite movies. <3
people can say shit about how corny this movie but when u where around them day's do you notice how there was not many blacks in your town and the crime rate wasn't that high? i was born in 1973 and i love to life back in that time.
@DClean oh sorry that there is no nigga's in it talking about killing people and no words with fuck bitch oh or nigga in it just because your black doesn't make u fuckin rapper so stop trying to be.
@jb55101 I am a 24 year old white male, who deplores the glorification of violence and ill-treatment of women in popular culture, in particular music that is marketed to a mass audience. However I appreciate one's right to freedom of expression, and when taken in context music referring to 'bitches' and 'niggas' can be enjoyable to listen to. It doesn't influence me and I dont act like that in my own life, because that is not my life, but I can enjoy that kind of music for what it is.
@DClean is that why white kid's and black kids copy rapper's then ? with the way they dress and shit yout not going yo geta a job with fuckin pants to your damn ankles. and if your 24 and have the right to say shit about music and movies like this then we as older people have the right to bitch about fuckin stupid rap music, rap music doesn't influence kids today? come on man if it don't then why do kid's copy the shit they wear talk the way they do and act like them
nice movie just watched. ive missed this rock time since im way younger and i cant say i relate much or i found a deeper meaning in the movie but its a nice movie :D
i was born in 1976 and i didn't start paying attention to music tell the 1990's ide love to life a year in 1970 this music u can hear the word's to it shit today's music it take's you a month or so before you even understand the word's .
@TheMustangsally75 It is CLOSELY based... The names are different, but Crowe has said it's an amalgam of his life. He went straight to 1st grade and skipped two more grades, lived in San Diego, had one older sister. His mom was a pych professor. After corresponding with Lester Bangs, he started writing for Creem. The only big differences were that he graduated from HS at 16 and then LATER toured with the Allmans at 18 to get his first cover story for Rolling Stone...
@sushinutnc ...and Penny Lane was an amalgam of two women he knew, and Stillwater was based on a bunch of bands he interviewed. Oh.. and his sister and mom didn't speak to each other for years.
@sushinutnc The only "YIKES" I have is that he toured with the Allman Brothers! Not known for being a "Straight-Laced" band by any means. But look @ the out come.
I'm right here with you my friend! Did you know that Duane Allman used to use an empty "Coricidin " bottle as the slide on his guitar. Now the is a company that tries to market it as "Medicine Bottle" to Musicians B/C of the copy=right infringement. My brother owns Total Entertainment in Daytona Beach, FL. It's right on International Speedway Blvd. Check it out if you're in the area! TOP Quality everything! He has a guitar man that has an actual Coriciden/ from Duane
@TheMustangsally75 Semiautobiographical, I believe. Unfortunately Stillwater isn't a real band. There was a Stillwater around that time, but it's not the band from the movie.
Absolute fantastic movie. Classic Cameron Crowe. Many feel this was a biography of him growing up. Lucky b@stard! Great song, great cast, outstanding movie.
Random fact about this scene: Cameron Crowe's wife, Nancy Wilson from the rockband Heart, was helping Cameron keep this scene in the movie. And why does it sounds like it's straight from a record? Because alot of the songs in this film were taken straight from the vinyls owned by Ann Wilson (lead singer of Heart and Nancy's older sister).
This was an amazing emotional scene. I loved this movie so much. For those who haven't watch it, WATCH IT. I would've loved to experience being Penny Lane.
U know there were girls out there, like myself & 2 good friends that were ALWAYS referred to as Charlies Angels. We didn;t hang around the stage door. Didn;thave to. The band managers, concert promoters would seek us out in the crowd & invite us back-stage, to the press parties. Not exactly like Penny Lane of "Almost Famous". Didn;t travel w/the band or have all the sex. Just good times to remember for a life-time!!! If you don't have to work for it, THAT'S what makes U feel special!
@brunalsf1 You and me both. I was born in 77 but too young to enjoy the 70's that's for sure, when there was still an authenticity to life and all things weren't yet owned by corporations and fun things were still allowed to happen because people didn't live in fear of being sued and everything wasn't overly litigated or politically correct.
OK...so I'm about to make an ass of myself, but who cares...this scene is about a time when some of us were not afraid to be just human with each other...no resumes, no business cards, just human. Sometimes this was really painful...sometimes it cut me to the core, but mostly it was exhilarating beyond words and I wouldn't give up these times for all the money on Wall Street. In the end, you will only be left with the moments of your life...make sure they are worth having!
My daughter, now 27, while she was taking dance classes @ 3 years old, looked so sweet in those little pink TU-TU's she will always be MY TINY DANCER!
but shes not hot and shes like naturaly arrogant with no class or nothing to emphasize the way she tries to look cool all the time and cant actually grasp it
her attitude is detestable
i find it offensive, horrid and shameful the way she wants to treat people, trying to be one step ahead of everyone so she can look at you over the shoulder, but she cant cause she knows shes a horrible person
Dude what you going on about, her eyes and innocence win every time. As an actress i think she is so cool and chilled out, every film i see her in i believe her character every time, so sorry mate i think i love her a bit hehe ;P x
ugh... why are all these comments so bleak... man, stop dick-riding the 70's already... celebrate cheetos and bong hits if it's all you have going, but dammit be happy about something pls:)
One of the all-time great movie scenes. I think it's so great because the band has been through so much together, and yet they have a moment in their bus of reconneting to the great love of their lives: music. Simply magical.
@dirtyhotdogwhore It's the day after a long night. One's just coming off of acid, the others are dealing with the party after-effects. You should see the movie. Totally worth it.
Music heals. Some people might think that math is the universal language, but I say music is. Music is flowing, ever changing, math is rigid, banal even.
I love how in the movie they go from "I AM A GOLDEN GOD!" to this, it's just perfect.
why can't music be good these days? why can't a whole crowd of people who hate each other just get up and start singing just because the music is good? why can't you get songs from 2011 that make you smile while your sitting in your bedroom on your own? urgghhhh bring back good music PLEASE!!!!!
I haven't seen this movie in a while, but I'm pretty sure Polexia and Jeff don't even have actual lines together, but they're by far my absolute favorite couple in the movie. I especially love them in this scene, the way she looks at him is so lovely.
You can buy a Stillwater shirt on Amazon. I bought one for my daughter. After I finished convincing her that they're not an actual band.. I buy her the tee. lol
Whoever wrote this scene, picked that song and pulled it all together is an F@#$%ing GENIUS! When Kate Hudson puts her hand up to his face and says you ARE home. BRILLIANT!!!!
I absolutely love this! i dont fit in with my genertaion at all. i was born in 1994 and unfortunatley i have to say i grew up with the shit music of my generation. IDC if id be old, i wish i was born in the 40s. that way i could live through all the best of times! I appreciate this music. too damn bad i dint get to experience it all! long live rock n roll! long live 1950-1989!
Makes you realize that even making music and "touring" in those far-gone days was hard work. Thank goodness we still have the fruit of their efforts..... At my old age now it keeps me going.... My dogs love it as I sing it (in my bad vocals) each early morning and my grand-daughter can't get enough of it and asks me to show her more of it.
@52wbending52 Why? now you get to appreciate this music as well as everything good that has come since and will come in the future. So you didn't get the authentic experience, you didn't feel the zeitgeist? I hate to tell you that most people in the 60s and 70s didn't get it either, they just got the music, only it was more expensive and took up more space. Be happy with your era, our era, its really not half bad.
@52wbending52 Also, history filters out the crap. You think everything in 197? was as good as this? Well, it wasn't, and for every classic like this there was something awful. Things really weren't much better, history just has a way of making us think it was because no one remembers the shite, but Tiny Dancer will live for as long as we have music.
Had to watch this my Freshman year of high school for a Film Studies class. I'm not a freshman in college and this still remains one of my favorite movies. <3

Why wasn't I born in '63? being 13 now sucks!
52wbending52 3 months ago
