  • Have you ever been to Shuri Castle in Okinawa - it's beautiful!

  • I remember when I was first staring at the rock garden I just kept thinking, they're stupid rocks, they're stupid rocks, but once my mind relaxed I enjoyed several imaginative interpretations of the rock garden. Now I consider Ryoanji as one of the top ten coolest places I have ever visited.

  • aparently, in that stone garden, no matter what angle you look at it, you can only see most of the grey rock things, one is always blocked by the others ^^ it'd be cool if it was true

  • Could you show some hot streams (nature's version of our hot tub), tourist attractions, spas etc? Thanks

  • Man am from Serbia and am far far far from Japan but mine life dream is to one day i can come to Japan and visit it.

  • Beautiful garden! I can't imagine the discipline it took to make that stone garden it literally looks like each and every stone was placed there one by one! Thanks!!

  • i lived 10 mins. away from kyoto :) but never been there before its so beautiful and amazing thanx for putting this video love it

  • You mentioned how the white stones in the stone garden are broken to get a consistent appearance, but do they smooth them out in some procedure or are they left with (i would assume) some jagged edges?

  • @niten

    Not broken.. raked.

The stones are just natural ^_^

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom

My mistake, I misheard "rake" as "break."

  • Kyoto has a lot of place to see, one place many people miss is Saihoji known as Moss temple (koke dera) , or moss garden , it is amazingly beautiful , this is one of UNESCO World Heritage site. You need an appointment and don't forget to take an insect repellent.

  • Have you taken part in a tea ceremony Ray?

  • @uglyengineer

A number of times in a number of lovely places.. very nice.

  • Beautiful place, I am so looking forward to visiting Japan in 2012.

  • wow very old and yet still very awesome i wish i could live there lol

  • beautiful! <3

  • wow there is alot of those sakura trees there! ^^

  • thank you for this tranquil video. I just wanted to add; I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that the rock formations in the zen garden are actually modelled after the peaks of real mountain ranges, but scaled down (you know how Japanese love their miniature nature - bonsai trees etc.) And the scale of some of those gardens are supposed to be shockingly accurate to their real life counterparts, almost like they had modern map making equipment to chart the land.

  • oh shit i went there last week on my field trip. very beautiful place =D

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks for sharing! This place is gorgeous. It would be wonderful to visit there some day.

  • The tea vessel reminds me of an old Chinese coin.
