  • Is it just more or are you stupid? (: Using the same brush on your BRAKES to your OILY DIRTY gearing! seriously? should we be taking advice from you?

  • Washing and lubing my penis.

  • Very helpful good vid . Well done

  • this is like science fiction for me , i never spend a cent for this washing tools

  • @arbanaskocudo There's no need to. Old soap, old toothbrush and a part of old T-shirt is all you need. Also some toilet paper can be useful too...

  • hi does this bike have abp???

  • I've never cleaned my bike lol, will do it though!

  • @diprose poor bike xD

  • Good video. But it's funny he washed his hands just to make it dirty again :)

  • wow, i ride dh and my bike gets filthy. havent cleaned it for ages. :/

  • lol overalls for cleaning a bike

  • Use a power link. Take the chain off to clean (diesels is an excellent cleaning agent) and clip the chain back on once it's clean simple.

  • When the music cranked up at the end of the video it scared the crap out of me because I had my volume set up high to hear during the vid. :) Great vid..

  • i want this guy to be my bike mechanic...

  • Nice video. I wish there was an instructional video on cleaning and lubing a chain without using one of those gay box thingies. How did they do the job in the Seventies, for instance?

  • good guide but whats with the music??

  • '' When Your Pinkys Pink its time for lubing '' sounds dirty

  • why clean your hand when your going to just get it dirty??? -___- WTF?

  • so... you don't wash your body at all, because it can get dirty again? :D

  • Dawg WTF with the music man it got all fakin loud at the end JEEZ!! Its not a fakin music video DOUCHEBAG!!!

  • anal vid man

  • I lube your mum

  • @atalayapark an england troll lol

  • @qdoom102 You play on Runescape, nuff said

  • @atalayapark not my account. dont be to quick judge kid.

  • what's with the annoying background music, aaargh!!!

  • with your pinkies pink again its now time for some lubing!! now im sure ive heard that somewhere else before!!!

  • remove crankset and all parts from frame. the frame can often be cleaned with just a damp soft sponge and maybe a light degreaser watered down if its greasy. that way you can clean the rest of the parts seperate from the bike frame that are the main parts that get greasy. the frame itself doesnt require much cleaning as the oily parts.

  • I'm using engine degreaser to prep bike to be washed, then brushes to agitate chemicals. Then washing all the dirt and chemicals by garden hose, then dryin' and lubing.

  • So many thats what she said moments to count *head explodes*

  • CAN YOU USE THE LUBE YOU PUT ON YOUR DICK???? I DONT FEEL LIKE GOING TO THE STORE TO BUY SOME OF THAT LUBE

  • You must be on crack if you suggest to use a brush all over a carbon bike like that aluminum all day but I always remove everything and clean it away from the frame , far away lol

  • There is so much differing information about lubing and oiling, cleaning chain etc.

it's very confusing. I would like to find some mechanics for the pro's and see what they do and advice if they have videos on here.

  • oh my god lol oops I never washed my bike in 20 years I just a bit of wd40 on the chain once in a while ..of course if there like a piece of branch on the chain I will remove it but i never wet my bike I thought it was bad water was bad for mountain bike or any bike..

I got a 1992 fuji mountainbike ...bright orange color lol I hate the color ..9IT WAS GIVING TO ME HAS A GIFT FROM MY SISTER IN LAW AND AT THE TIME I WAS WORKING IN HOME DEPOT SO SHE GAVE AN ORANGE BIKE LOL.but I LOVE MY FUJI!1

  • I like the video. Good overview.

  • I need to rush out and buy a suitcase for my lube... Thanks for the video!

  • i like how it actually shows how to clean the whole bike and not just parts of the bike

  • I like how he was servicing a raliegh, and not some dock off thousand pound DH rig.

  • You're not suppose to grease your cables... it gets all kinds of corrosion and will eventually clog up in your housing.

  • Great guidance video, but what is with the music in the back-ground or should I say in the fore-ground.

  • Wow, I hear you should clean your bike with angel’s tears so it does not water spot, and contact NASA for some of the lubricant they use in the international space station. I hear you can also buy grease made out of real platinum gold.

  • Wow, I hear you should clean your bike with angel’s tears so it does not water spot, and contact NASA for some of the lubricant they use in the international space station. I hear you can also buy grease made out of real platinum gold.

  • i like how the guy gets his hands all greasy and dirty with his Rolex on. XD

  • i use simple degrease liquid for home.Made for things like grills etc. and its fantastic.First literally shower a bike nicely, spray degrease liquid, brush a little with simple tooth brush around cassette, derailleurs, wait a couple of minutes, wash again & its sparkling.Of course lube it nicely but not too much and its perfect. I use Weldtite TF2 lubes.its a mistake washing & lubing a bike only when changing parts or from time to time..Bad weather means water+dust+dirt=Bad mix.Natural sandpaper

  • Next vid....how to clean a car in 5 hours and spending $1,000

  • 0:49 Mohawk action

  • haha, i thought the guy had crazy green hair at :51 sec

  • Comment removed

  • all of these bike-specific accessories could be replaced with simple cleaning items.

  • this was a little helpfull, i am 15 but i have a very diffrent bike :P i'd give bout a 8/10?

  • Sorry you got me laughing at 0:25

  • I now clean my chain with diesel as its a solvent and a lube as i've had problems with water drying off properly especially in bad weather here in England.

  • that bike looked pretty clean to start with.

  • when using the sprocket brush, is it a good idea to spray a fresh bit of cleaner on the sprocket + brush?

  • how oftern should i lube/ wash my bike?

  • @SuccessionLockon whenever you think it needs a wash

  • Hey!

I just wondering if I can wash my bike with just a waterhose? I mean so nothing gets rusty :P Like the Chain or some of that stuff..

  • @worldbmx hey, you can was your bike with a hose just wipe the water off after. when the bike's dry oil every bolt and moving point on your bike to stop rust.

  • @TheWayneedwards

    Hey! Thanks! :P

  • What if I use door oil for everything? Is it bad?

  • How often to lube/ wash?

  • @tostrong4you whenever you feel it is necessary. Mountain bike, every 30 miles on trails id say if you want a very clean bike. Road bike, probably every 100

  • I hate cleaning mud off my MTB and making it look brand new :'( but unfortunately it has to be done :)

  • if you clean your bike like this, you are insane :)

  • Dam you stupid I have bike about 15 years and i don't wash him and hi is perfect !!! I have change only back tire and my brakes. P.S in summer i have riding in bike about 100 km or more.

  • @WildBoy155 100km for the whole summer, or in one go? I did 55km yesterday. And yes, you don't need to do this procedure EVERY DAY, but for those who put thousands of km on their bike in a season, anything that reduces gear and chain wear will only save you money in the end.

  • @samurphy

Cheaper an less time consuming changing parts from time to time. Lube just mantain int between changes. Just like cars

  • TF2 :D, team fortress 2 =D, Valve even makes bike stuff :P

  • @EAadvisers you need to get out more.

  • dont use WD40 on your bikes, it is not a lubericant, when you put it on your chain it takes the rust off it then acts like sand paper and gradually wears out your chain, WD40 also attracts little dirt particles thus increasing your problem. use a lube that actually says "lubericant" on the can, and for washing i just a wet or damp cloth depending on how dirty it is.

  • @F4ceYourFe4rs Agreed. WD40 is a penetrant and water-displacing product. However, the product itself doesn't wear the chain. Re-accumulated sand/dirt and metal-on metal wear kills the chain. (and stretch, but that's normal wear and tear)

  • @F4ceYourFe4rs i agree that it isnt a lube but you can still use it to wash your chain, just remember to wash your chain with water after using wd40 to get the particls let out

  • very well done thanks!

  • the parts of you're bike that really need cleaning like the drive chain are best done by removing them from the from the bike entirely. the frame it self can be wiped with a damp cloth with all parts removed if you really want to do a proper job. remove the cranks and everything else if you really want to do it properly without drivign water into areas youd rather not get wet. is it safe to use degreaser to remove oil from the frame? you'll find chian degreaser on a cloth will do just as good

  • just wwash the bike with water and lube everyting with wd-40

  • well u can use wd40 but in time it'l damage your gears, that's why u have to use gear oil.

  • I just used the stuff I use to clean my car with & lube the chain as usual.

  • it's more a comercial than a guide : (

  • I think it's a perfectly serviceable video. Does exactly what it sets out to do.

  • @trot21 i don't see it that way

  • @trot21

    How?

  • Use biodegradable cleaner though. No need to add more toxic chemicals into the mix.

  • makes no difference once you clean the bike with it its not biodegradable any more

  • Follow these instructions and you will have spent eighty quid on cleaning gear and to say one of those chain cleaning machines is usefull is not true I had one and it was a piece of junk.

  • One common mistake is to use WD-50 as if it were a lubricant : it's more of a cleansing unclogging humidity chaser spray & should never replace oil or grease and is not even mentioned in this good video.

  • My 10 yo daughter washes my bikes for $2 each after an hour shes washed my Downhill, X-Country, Racer, also the misses cruiser & her own bike we give her $10 because she conns $2 for hers also, im going to make her wach this vid so she dose them properly & if she dose give her $5 a bike

  • Where do you buy these tools?

  • Most local & online bike shop m8

  • wont tht scrath it with teh scrath thingy he is using

  • No it's nylon brushes

  • Yes, i use a nice sponge =D

  • Comment removed

  • where can i get this stuff especially that chain cleaning machine i live in brooklyn ny anyone know any stores?

  • try looking in yellow book for some bike shops

  • check out park tools U.S.A. they have that and also the cleaning chemical that u put inside that machine.

  • another way to get your hands lean is using fairy liquid

  • thanks for showing me how to wash my hands

  • hmmm... I like this! Im about to run to the sporting goods store to buy a bunch of cleaners, lubes, and brushes..but is it a good idea to be using all that teflon based stuff without gloves? isn't that stuff supposed to be bad for you? maybe its not that bad..oh well thats what the gloves are for..

  • all i do is clean the chain then use WD-40

  • same lol

  • seriously why bother so i have to replace my chain a couple of thousand miles sooner so what i dont get dirty greasy shit everywhere from cleaning my bike. A good layer of dirt protects it perfectly.

  • Time to view my video:

    Honda XRM RS 125

  • are u kiding me i have a bike for 7 yera ansd i just use VASELINE ON EVERY PART and i wash it ans it good u dont need all that crap fuk them, i havent chage the chain in 7 yers WTFM i go tru water muds i cross river i leve it in rain, i have an uber mountain bike that runs like new u only need to wash and use vaseline

  • Hey, that's a great idea! I've never thought of using Vaseline. Just wipe it on, I presume, thanks for sharing.

  • for cables just get some graphite powder and the whole water on the bike made my chain rust quick AHHH SUCK but ohh well

  • WD-40 is the worst choice for your bike, causes dirt to stick to it like mad!!

  • wd40 also allows the dirt to wash off ez

it is an old motocross trick and it keeps rust from forming on cromo frames . mist the clean bike down with WD40 and wipe excess off of frame and railers

  • The entire video was good EXCEPT the part when he start applying bearing GREASE onto cables.

I did so and both my brake cable seized up after less than 500 miles.

I spent the last 2 weeks finding places to hide from my friend-at-a-bike-shop's humiliation: Aha! He GREASED his cables!

  • Yeah, I was wondering about the grease as well...I read triflow is pretty good for your cables though.

Plus the spray costs an arm and a leg, other sites just tell you to use biodegradable dish soap with water.

  • bullshit this is, just use a bit of wd40 here and there, that's what i do, nothing bad has happened and nothing ever will

  • y are you watching this video if you all ready know what to do.

  • wow! and did you apply that logic when you used a bit of trusty 'ol hammer here and there to kill all your house flies?

  • yeh just buy a new bike when yr old one seizes up from WD40 abuse.

Featured Weldtite brushes and cleaning fluids kit is £25, chain bath another £25. Or just buy degreaser and lube £10 and use any suitable brush.

If you don't maintain a quality bike properly you don't know what you're missing.

  • wrong u faggot

  • rom-anal-lover. unlike you the British are clean. You obviously don't like to wash things, including yourself. should be expected from an inbred fucking redneck who fucks his own family I guess. Your whole family probably smell off fish and shit, and carry disease.

With a name like ROM-ANAL-LOVER, I would expect nothing less. (did your dad teach you to be an anal lover! LOL!)

    TWAT!!

  • bwaaaahahahahahahaha! pretty good play on words! double bonus points for added entendre! 8D

  • Roman all over

  • You have terrible spelling and grammar...

  • what about disc brakes and pads? Are you supposed to not get cleaner on them. Might be worth removing them

  • I'm not sure about the cleaner, but make sure you don't get any grease on the pads, or youll ruin them.

  • Very true. Did it myself with dire consequences.

  • how often do i need to do it?

  • Don't go MAD? Don't go CRAZY!? NOW you tell me! BLAWOOOOOEEEEAHHHHBLOSKDFLK:ASDHL:SKDHG!

  • looks laborious

  • were can i get those cleaners.

  • search in amazon or google bikesomewhere <-all one word

  • i got mine in a park tool cleaning kit. also, you can go to a music store and a instrument cleaning kit with brushes. it will work to

  • the brush that he called a "Bike Specific" brush looked insanely like a saxophone brush... just throwing that out there

  • I have that brush!!!! Now all I need is a saxophone.

  • I think this is very amateur! Don't use spray on chains, it dries your chain. We tested it and the chain becomes more used after 500km than with a normal lubricant after 1000km! I work as a race support serviceman.

  • PETAH GRYPHON: you know what really "grinds my gears," there? people who say they're PROFESSIONAL servicemen, yet offer only what not to do

    - instead of pro-actively offering their "professional" expertise in the form of helpful, problem-solving alternatives, such as products, methods, prices, warnings, tips, etc. -

    like an AMATEUR!

And uh..that's what grinds my gears! Back to you, Tom! Diane!

  • Subutubiata,

You missed the bit at 0:53 where the narrator states " You can clean your bike with a sponge, an old toothbrush and washing up liquid"

    No "hard sell" here.

I use my bike on a daily commute 10miles round trip, I used to neglect chain and chainset cleaning until I realised the teeth on my gears had been ground down by the abrasive effects of the hard paste + friction.

Weeky cleaning especially over the winter months with the salt on the roads is essential

  • wtf you don't need a machine to clean your chain... this video is made for serious riders, not the casual commuters.

  • cool vid T.Y.

  • nice tutorial for the noobs out there!

    Great vid!

  • There's no such thing as 'bike specific' solvent or cleaner. Any general purpose cleaner will do the job. Don't get sucked into buying some expensive product that's just a generic solvent in a fancy bottle.

  • Like what general purpose cleaner can do the job? Any ideas?

  • simple green.

  • I am just the 57 year old child who needs a well delivered, simplified video like this. I've only started riding, and am not a mechanic, but would like to keep the mud and goop off my bike to keep it running well for me. Thanks for a great instructional video!

  • @friendorphobia me too I just turned 50 never cycled since i was 18 well done great way to keep fit I hope you are not the guy who passes me at great speed my stamina was non existant

  • you should never use a pressurewasher on a bike... it forces dirt in to the bearings and shortens the life of the bike

  • yeah, thats wot he said in the video, wots your point ?

  • this commentary reminds me of childrens television

  • just use car alloy wheel cleaner it eats any oil, dirt, nearly everything then power wash off and re lube chain

  • fail!!! some car alloy cleaners are too strong and "eats" up metal and destroys the bearings! specially the power washer it blows the grease out of the bearings... a bike isn't always clean even if it lokks so.

  • what do you no. bet you dont even have a bike just talking shit.

  • put washing up liquid on your hands fingers before your start ...oil just swills off at the end.

  • dont you guys hate it when you get lube(tri-flow) on your rim, then your braking is cruddy

  • i sprayed silicon oil on my front disk, that sucked

  • i have also got some oil on my disc, i fell off in 60 km/h... Always check youre brakes before you take a tour(sorry the bad English, i'm Norwegian=) )

  • WD40 is a SOLVENT. Let me spell that S-L-O-V-E-N-T....if you want to destroy the life a a chain have at it. If you want it on the cheap you MUST USE OIL 3in1 is perfectly OK. In fact NOT using ANY lubricant on a bike chain is better than using WD40.

  • You're right about NOT using WD-40, but it's funny that you spelled solvent wrong right in the middle of making your point!

  • do you find it embarrassing that you misspelled solvent after making such a dramatic point of being clear about it's spelling?...

  • omg lmao.. old skool bike dude.. new aged cleaning materials.. this video is as informative as it is amusing! its like granny hired a specialist to wash her road tool!

  • i love my bike

  • y do they use road bikes instead of mountain bikes? i have a trek 3700 mountain bike

  • i wish i have all of those equipment. heheheh lol nice video

  • good video, but couldn't you have used a nicer bike, or even drive train. I mean i have deore and it doesn't even stay in the same room as my race bike, More suitable for my mom's bike. HaHa.

  • nice clear, but too complicated,i wish i could do that myself if i got time...and,i like that little black brush,so cute, just like you are holding your...to wash your loved bike^^hahaha...anyway,thank you for teaching!

  • That doesn't seem too complicated but a bit expensive. Especially the chain cleaning machine will cost quite a lot, I assume.

  • Nice clear video. Thanks for uploading, I found it useful. All the best.

  • Great info! Thanks!

  • beats me aussi thanks for tip digital although lube didn't do much for far north biking for me at least my most of my drive train rusted through think getting more ground clearance like a 29er might help in winter biking

  • Should you lube the derailier jockey wheels? I think they are plastic to metal, and hence may require different treatment?

  • Supplementary comments on a great video:

re: bike stand: to avoid damaging (destroying) frame, clamp bike by seat post, or on seat tube just below seat stays. Aluminum and carbon top tubes can be crushed very easily by the bike stand clamp.
