I see you have 2 females and a male together, how do they all get along. I ask because I live on a few acres and was looking at getting Dobes, 3 maybe(most likely not all at once, phased)? Wondering what your opinion/experience was on mix of males/females together?
@cbravo2004They get along great, mostly. Sometimes the small f irritates the m. Ours are rescued,so it was a grad intro.If you r interested in rescued dobes, ck the websites for pairs/threes. Many times,there are groups w/dobes that love each other and were given up together. They try to place together, but it can be hard to find someone willing to adopt 2/3. Dobes get very attached to u,& to ea other. Its devastating 4 them tobe separated. M/F are fine together, as long as they are spayed/n.

in the mid 1800's Louis Doberman created this breed. people the breed looks like a rottie just skinny with more muscle. it is cause he crossed a rottie with a greyhound. that it why it is skinny and muscly like a greyhound that can run fast. and the skin tone of a rottie. because they're are so many it has been considered a pure breed from 1921.
@GOOFYGOOPERROCK HI! I actually DO have problems with them eating too fast, and dobies are susceptable to BLOAT, sooo, I feed them using antibloat bowls. They are called Brake-Fast, or something like that. Just search under Anti-bloat dog bowls. It slows my dogs down. Sorry it took me so long to reply, I just noticed your post...sorry! @GOOFYGOOPERROCK You're probably feeding your dog a certain amount at a certain time. So he's starving by "feeding time", so eats it as fast as he can, because he knows that's all there is. He wants to get as much down as fast as he can before someone else eats it or takes it away.
Try keeping dry food in his bowl at ALL TIMES, He'll quickly learn there will always be food there and stop eating like a pig.
I've done this forever & none of mine were overweight. Mine also get "people food".
Dobes are THE most lovable dogs. We have had 2, just lost our last one. Looking for a rescue if you find a good one. So glad you're enjoying yours!! You obviously love them, and they are well, happy souls. The best friends ever!

Dobes are the best. We have had four over the last 25 years, with two still with us, a red uncut female 6 1/2 yrs and black male cut, 5 yrs. I would go without eating before I would let my dobes do without. They are (besides my wife of 30 yrs) the most important thing in my life. Anyone who buys into the "vicious uncontrollable myth" has simply never been around them and have no idea what great family pets they are. Really enjoyed your post, thank you!!

I myself have been looking to get one, maybe you can answer me a question: I noticed from some of the pictures they were playing in the snow. I to live in a cold climate, but have heard that cold climates aren't that great for dobermans, is this true? Or can they take the cold just as well as any other dog? They do fine, but only obviously as indoor dogs. Mine like to go out and romp in the snow for a bit, but then they are ready to come in and warm up! They have short fur with not much of an undercoat, so they get cold fairly quickly. Walking outside with a sweater, they hold up fine for their evening walk. Just use common sense-when its really cold or snowing, stay inside. A dobe would be lucky to have someone like you who is going to love them, keep them close, and take great care of them!
if you don't mind my saying, and if you haven't gotten one already, please ADOPT a doberman rather than buy one. There are plenty of great dobies out there in need of homes, you'll be saving a life. Try finding a dobie rescue organization on google, they should be more than happy to help.

we have bsl here too. too many dogs are corrupted by bad owners, but why blame the dog? punnish the deed, not the breed is my motto! and their "savage" pb's , and others is how they were raised, not born! ace vid! your dogs are beautiful! XD
They are beautiful...and well loved!! Wish there were more people like you around...all dogs deserve love...of course...my Dobie gets most of mine! But my other 5 mixed breeds are loved too...but they dont get the sofa, pillow and cover!!! kootos to you!!

nahh. but it might be hard not to WANT another one!! I know it's like that with my Tibetan Spaniel! u cant just have one!! :D but the great thing about Dobies is that if u do get another dog, you dont have to necessarily rule out small dogs!! they r gentle giants (with they're family!) :)
