Godzooky was just a reinvention of Minilla, who was still very popular at the time. But that is the rut that all of the american versions have gotten into, Hanna Barbera, Marvel, Dark Horse & Sony ALL tried to create "surrogate" versions of TOHO monsters they could not afford to license, when they should have concentrated on creating good original foes. Some WERE pretty good. Like Axor, Cyclops & Earth Eater. Marvel's 8 legged Ghiloran was a nice design. The Sony show had a few good ones.
Godzookie was actually portrayed by Harrison Ford. He turned a show about coloring and building blocks into a tv series with chest hair. A rip-roaring action series about the bag boy at a 5 star hotel.
