  • If this had a good quality it would be the best version in youtube

  • It's me, again. It is Christmas Eve and I'm sure that many churches tonight will use this as their opening hymn. Merry Christmas, everyone.

  • HAllelujah! Christ is born (and risen)

  • MAGNIFICENT!

  • I LIKE THIS CHOIR

  • Churchianity is not Christianity which basically left this world during the 3rd century. However, Truth-loving, non-Jesus worshiping Christianity is making a new appearance as Love Infinite and Forever Operating.

  • @bmiller4930 wow you are arrogant. So there was no Christianity from the 200's AD until you came along? I don't know what is more stunning, your pride, your lack of knowledge of history, or your lack of theological acumen.

  • Thank you for responding. Christianity is the spiritual movement where Love came first, last and always, which healed the sick, raised the dead, cleansed the leper and casts out demons. Churchianity is where the followers fail to do the works of Christ, live according to a mythological doctrine and worship Jesus like the pagans worship Zeus. Perhaps this describes you. Hmmmmm? If you do live like a phoney church person at least have the balls to take credit for it.

  • This is pretty good. I'm willing to ignore the mistaken notes because these guys are pretty d*** good. This is another one of my favorite Christmas songs, aside from Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Christianity shall live forever, though scientists may try to destroy it. To atheists who say God doesn't exist: go jump off a cliff.

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Tonight (Christmas Eve), I attended a worship service at a local Lutheran Church. We sang this as the opening hymn. It is #283 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

  • Merry Christmas ... Joyeux Noël ... Buen Natale ... Feliz Navidad ... Frohe Weihnachten ...

  • Touvhe! Thank you for posting.. God Bless

  • brilliant woo hoo

  • This is Great man! ..... From Chicago

  • A bit more organ please! The Chamade is nice

  • Cool Pipe Organ. where is it? What kind of pipe organ is it?

  • Just looked it up sir. It is a 100-rank Casavant-Freres Centennial organ.

It's at the corner of Date and 3rd St in San Diego, California. I've only been a couple times for the Christmas concerts they put on.

  • This choir does alot of concerts and I wish more of them were on video for us all to see. The best place to sit if one is to record is in the balcony, first row, center. I hope you'll do some more recording. This one is very nice, thank you for sharing.

  • Beautiful.

bookworm, stop being such a perfectionist. Let's the musically challenged enjoy the tune.

    Merry Christmas in September :-)

  • Why?! Why does everyone sings the 'kings of angels' bit wrong? Our music teacher has been training it into us for years - it's 'an' 'gels'. Two syllables, two notes. Not this horrible slur that everyone else seems to sing.

  • I never realized that untill you pointed that out.

  • I never did until she went so bananas over it. The number of times she's had the whole school singing "An, an, an, an, an, an, gels, gels, gels, gels gels, an, gels, an, gels." I can't enjoy listening to it now without noticing how joe public slaughters those notes.

  • Actually, it really depends which arrangement you are singing. The hymnals in my Baptist church have you slur "Angels". However when I play for episcopal chuches we sing "an, gels".

So they're not really slaughtering the song. They could simply be reading a different arrangment of this hymn.

  • Uhh...hate to tell you this, but I've just checked a couple of hymnals, including the 1905 Methodist hymnal, and "angels" is three notes--a dotted quarter, an eighth, and another quarter. So the "slur" is legitimate.

  • I was a member of this choir for 11 years and this is a small sample of what we did. If you can go to their Christmas concert this year please do. You will be glad you did. I live to far to go there now. But I do miss singing with a 100 member choir. Great singers.

  • Where are they? I mean Westminister sounds England?

  • Probably New England.

  • This choir is in San Diego, CA. USA.

  • What a beautiful church!!!!! How glorious that must have been in person! To hear the choir, organ and instrumentalist must have been great!

  • merry christmas from england soz im five days late lol

  • Merry Christmas from southern Arizona, USA!

  • Merry Christmas From Heartland USA = Kansas City, MO

  • Has anybody got the notes for organ of this beautiful piece??

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Tonight (Christmas Eve), I attended a service at a local Lutheran Church. We sang this for the opening hymn. It is #283 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Just thought I'd share.

  • I'll be attending Midnight Mass at my local church in the Southwell Diocese soon. Merry Christmas all!

  • Merry Christmas from Canada

  • maravilha de hino. sublime

  • music sounds good

  • ")") **** you pepole i love this song

  • 2nd verse---the organ is really pushing the choir

  • beautiful

  • You're either kidding or retarded. Which?

  • oh, so you're the latter.

  • Do you understand the religious connotation of this song or do you just like terrible hair metal?

  • I just like what you call terrible hair metal!!!...by the way I'm an orthodox!!

  • oh rele kool so am i =D

  • there aint nothin wrong with hair metal or metal at all, but to compare this to hair metal is just ridiculous. twisted sister did nothing wrong they covered it cause they like the song just like you do. you are not above anyone metal is metal and this is not.

  • And you're a fucking douche saying that. Go murder yourself.!

  • for cryin out loud how old are you? twisted sister covered it and made it fun, but this is the original and is beatiful. for you to call it boring is unbelievably childish and just pathetic honestly. you need to grow up and accept that this is the best one, with an organ and choir in a church. please just grow the fuck up.

  • He's retarded.

  • im all for twisted sister but lets face it dude dean snider dont have it in him to sing this song right

  • The Choir was wonderful. What a wonderful treat to be there at the Westminster Cathedral. Sing Praise to his name. rejoyce and make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Anyone with Faith,

May the Peace of the Lord Be Always With You.

  • You're realy going to heaven man. I wish I could believe in something as much as you do.

  • Humbly ask the Lord Jesus Christ to reveal himself to you and look...

  • you cant really make that judgement. i wish everyone was honest but he may be a terrible person, but just cause he speaks like that dont mean hes goin to heaven. we humans have no right to judge the fate of anyone else. im not sayin this guy is terrible he is probably a good person, but poeple lie.

  • usnt it that ben adams of a1 is a former member of this choir??

  • isnt it that ben adams of a1 is a former meber of this choir??

  • I have no idea actually...

  • uhhhmm..anyways...thank you

  • Bravo! This is a great hymn. I love to sing it.

    Thanks for posting.

    Welldone and God bless †

  • I don't mean to be TOO critical, but darling if you're going to use strings in the accompaniment, sweetie tell them to break at the punctuation marks in the text! Otherwise they stand out.

Nice work with the en chamade---all the best people use such a reed in the tenor register.

    Martin

    One of The Best People

  • I attended this concert and I can attest that they did an awesome job! The camera and camera man just don't do justice. In addition to having very good music, they are nice people. (not a member in case...)

  • Sweetie, we have to get your vawels addressed.

I admire the effort, etc.-----but darling---tuning issues abound...

    Martin

  • I guess at Christmas time...

  • Baptists sing this!! It's a Christmas carol - every denomination in the United States is going to sing this.

  • type in:

Wise Guys-Oh come all ye faithful

  • Where is this Westminster Presbyterian Church....

    Sand

  • It's in San Diego, California, off First Ave near downtown. Big beautiful church!

  • singing carols is one of my favourite parts of christmas lol.

  • Visions and sounds of gentler English Christmases past. Let us not forget.

  • I love this christmas carol. This is one of my favorites.

  • O Come all Ye faithful

  • I just love Christmas time and singing Chrismas carols.

  • Me too! Ever since I was a little kid with my Bugs Bunny Christmas LPs and my mom's collection of classic songs... Little Drummer Boy, Silent Night, O Tannebaum, First Noel... those were my favorites!

  • Wonderful...

  • The last verse and chorus were beautiful with the parts!!! unfortunately, the parts in the first verse etc couldn't be heard.. this is by far my favourite Christmas hymn!!! thanks for the video!

  • I'm glad that you enjoyed it. They will be coming to SD again this December. Have you heard the latin version - "Adeste Fidelis" sung? Andrea Bocelli does a great solo of it...

  • yes, i've heard the version sung by Il Divo.. haven't listened to Andrea Bocelli's version..yet! tc

  • The harmonies are never sung until the last verse.

  • Favorite xmas song and they did a beutiful job!

  • Very good despite the video quality, but the tenor, bass and alto part didnt stand out if it was sang at all.

  • Beautiful ! Thanks, They sound great.

  • Ok, I take it back.. They aren't terrible...

  • Last song I song with my mom. Beautiful.

  • Beautiful song.

  • not bad sound but the picture is a wee bit off.. anyways thanks a ton for sharing the video

  • It's the song and what's in the hearts of the singers that count, not the sound. No one here has anything to complain about unless the choir is filled with hypocrites.

  • I know... it was my first time with my new camera. At least the sound is good, despite the video picture.

  • No, the sound is very bad. It sounds terrible, and yet I'm relatively confidant that it sounded relatively nice in real life. No offense, naturally. I don't mean to be hostile, I'm only making sure you realize that you need better a better camera if you want to post good music...

  • Can't say they're terrible. It's just a bad quality recording.

  • Which Westminster Choir is this?? I hope not from my school. They're terrible.

  • From San Diego I assume.

  • First I thought this was supposed to be the Westminster Abbey choir for England...
