  • Dear Dextrix42, I want to congratulate you on your hard work. However there is a mistake which I want to draw your attention: The batteries are not met to be connected the way you are connecting them. You are connecting them in a way enforcing the overall current to pass through each battery??? Surely these batteries are not meant to work under a 100 volt output???. Mr. Newman did also the same mistake. One or two batteries are more than enough. Otherwise use a power supply.

  • @eber721: I have two other videos where everything is working. But your comment is very true. The batteries are not really supposed to be strung together like this. I have killed a couple of batteries doing this. Fortunately, I got a real good deal on 9v's at a dollar store. I hope you watched the other videos I made.

  • Use two 4" x 2" x 1/2" magnets as that is what I am doing, using a 6" PVC pipe. Still waiting on my bearings and 10 lbs of 20 AWG magnet wire. What gage are you using?

  • Sorry, I should have read your description first. You are using 26 AWG. Why so small verses 22 or 20 AWG? I ask as 20 offers more milliamps does it not? I am thing about putting 5 lbs on each coil. Looks like you are using about a pound and a half or less. What did you use to butt the sides of your coils against as to keep your wire nice and neat?

  • @EnterAtOnesOwnRisk: Joseph Newman was able to rotate a 600lb magnet with 4000lbs of wire with only.... I think it was 66v. I can't afford that much wire, so I am going with more voltage, and a little more wire.

  • Is it possible that the magnets are being attracted to the washing machine?

  • My wife thought the same thing back when I started. I have solved my problem, and will explain in my next video. Thanks for your help. I will be making the video today (2-22-2010) after breakfast. ;)

  • @detrix42 My wife is VERY NOT interested. I don't build motors for her however. We have the same washer LOL. I like the idea of using small reed switches and magnets for pulsing and collapsing the coil. You are using a lot of energy on your commutator a smaller design would reduce the drag. Happy Motoring
