Speed would def be key as Martinez doesn't throw punches in the same fashion as Pac; who averages 10+ punches per flurry with speed that's in a different league. That along with a patient pace moving in/out, side to side could contain Martinez. Williams only SAID to be most feared, but to me, too lanky and an ez target with suspect chin that was exposed by Martinez.

Well, Martinez is quicker than Margarito, a much harder hitter and will actually chase you. Unlike Margarito who took 2 tiny steps trying to put pressure on Pacquiao and backed off whenever he threw a combination. I love Pacquiao! And I find it hard to believe that anyone can knock him out but Martinez would soooo easily. He'd knock out floyd too, again, with pressure.

Martinez would have Floyd's number because although Floyd's quick, his offense in on the shelf without a certain 'fire' to it, mostly working off defense. He looks good on the mits, but it's on the rhythym tip, not deadly like how Pac throws. Then again what can I say, he's undefeated still to this point. Canelo would give Floyd problems also, because he's a solid brute at 154 and fights like an ace, but needs more speed.

What's important here is check his footwork, minimium effort and keeping up that rhythm just always on the move always skipping but just minimaly to not waste energy. This is optimized training for boxing that can be utilized as is. Not the world skipping championship.

@Midou86 That's one way of looking at it. Another way could be that skipping is a conditioning exercise and therefore doing all those fancy moves can actually work to help the conditioning. Doing that fancy stuff is really really tiring, once you know how to do the moves. For me I use them occasionally but not excessively like Floyd Mayweather who has the conditioning to maintain 20+ minutes of fancy rope. But your way of looking at it is also correct. Different perspectives.

@musood6630 Well one of the main reasons you skip rope in boxing is to train up your footwork, sure it has alot of other benefits that's perfect for boxing, but if you want to work on your condition you generally do other stuff, that's why mma guys dont generally skip rope, they can't use footwork like boxers due to takedowns. But i get your points, it helps with coordination, agility and other stuff. Who would've guessed skipping rope would be as bad ass as it is :P
