I have the habit of listening to this song while I'm sad, and it's such a tearjerker. It's such a beautiful song, but I wish I I couldn't relate to the lyrics :c
10years on & still 1 of their best, the chorus is one of the strongest i've ever heard, coz in reality we've all had a day we'd love to relive. Life IS too short.
This is a great song, and I think Grant sounds excellent on it. But for some reason, Satellite News still cannot be topped when it comes to the slower songs. It's just epic.
even though i love them i wouldnt say they are big over here. They have been, but not at the moment. Great fan base though. This song makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and i thats how i judge a really great song.
nah its not because it sounds like wonderwall its the rock n roll type distortion that oasis uses, but ur right i played this song at a gig the fret is on the same fret or 1 up i cant remember but there is a wonderwall sound
well you can't define the true meaning of a song, at least not a good one. But that's what makes it a good song. If people see different things in it but equally meaningfull in nature, like lamenting lost youth or love, it doesn't matter what someone else thinks. Ít's what you get out of it that makes a song or anything for that matter special
If there is one word to describe Feeder, I would use contemplative. Their life-affirming lyrics always makes me reflect on things that are of importance. In this song - keeping hold of the past and allowing your dreams to carry you away in exaltation and hope, for this is the only way to sustain ourselves in when feeling adrift.
He's not as exuberant now, but Grant really is one of the best riff writers (is that a term?) to ever pick up a guitar. He was the one that made me pick up a guitar and the reason I have a Jazzmaster, I really can't understand why loads of people just ignore their genius
this (for me) is the most underated feeder track ever released, pure heaven, just a shame it was released before the big hit echo park album, lost gem
Great, the lyrics are pure poetry. Feeder have a huge portfolio of amazing songs, from real rock like Buck Rogers to involving ballads like this and Feeling the moment, and they are always credible and excellent in both. You lucky Brits have a lot of gigs to attend to these days...greetings from Italy
I remember them at Reading 2002, amazing gig. I really hope the shallowass metalheads and emo-core kids at the last day of Reading this year dont bottle this amazing band.
Feeder is better than that pretentious Metallica or Avenged Sevenfold bullshit anyday.
Feeder were bloody brilliant at Leeds this year. Everyone got involved! Everyone around me was singing out throughout the entire set. It was the most involved crowd for a band i'd been part of that whole weekend. Loved every minute!

Ok I could care less about aveneged sevenfold... but when you say this bullshit garbage is better than Metallica...then all I have to say is your out of your fucking mind.
This "awesome, amazing, brilliant band" sucks ass and I wish my friends had never sent me the link.
loljonbland, to each their own opinion. In my opinion Metallica are not artists, theyre a cleverly developed business plan out there to plunder people's perception of real music and politely rob people of their money through ridiculously expensive merchandise, dvds and gig tickets. I have never heard an album as rubbish as St Anger in my life.
Bottomline is, songs like 'one' and 'creeping death' were good, but they havent done anything credible in a very long time.
The new album is alright, but lets face it, Metallica could release an album of white noise and there would be people who would buy it, bit like Oasis who have done squat since the mid nineties
@getting2 Taka was raised in wales though so you couldn't wholly call him Japanese. For example my parents are Canadian but I was brought up in Northern Ireland and therefore consider myself to be British.
There's a lot of Beatles influences in Grant's songwriting. English rock bands always have a lof of influences from Beatles. That's natural. It's great if those bands can write songs in the vein of Beatles with some improvements, and Feeder always had that quality songwriting with those "improvement"s.

the only thing that makes it anything like wonderwall is the strumming pattern and that is a very a popular strumming patter, used in many songs

@zaccsalter the chord progression is also very common... G, F#/G, Em, Cadd9 etc, albeit with a capo on the third fret
