Interesting, you get a great sound out of the hohner blues blaster, which pretty much everyone reckons is crap. I love my collection of vintage mics, but it just goes to show that it ain't the gear, its what you do with it.
see the thing is the early Bluesblasters had the same element as the JT-30 (MC151) later on Hohner had to put in something else because Astatic quit making the original elements, the new Astatic Roadhouse or Bluesblaster mics got some cheap elements
Ah, so I see, it was an early blues blaster, thats an entirely different story. I still bet you'd get a good sound out of just about anything though; I find the better I get the better my gear sounds!
ever try a tone cab from a Hammond organ I've worked with popper and his setup is like 5 different amps and a huge pedal board & sm58 with a 9channel snake wired to switch from amp to amp or amp's. I brought a tone cab I wired for the harp mic to a show and left it in the dressing room two of the 4 bands wanted it onstage.then I use a crossover in the insert with compression separate for the returning High and low a harsh mid line for the low end and an early soft compression for the high
Do you remember being called to the front desk in school via the ancient intercom system? Or if you have ever waited for a bus or train and could not quite understand what was being said, then the chances are you might have heard a comprable microphone. People used to use cheap intercom mics because that is what was avalible, now they use them because it is blues history. Personally I prefer a SM57 to the green bullet style mic, sounds way better to my ears & it can be used for vocals.
Do you think you lose anything by not have Treble Mid and Bass? Or do you think one is just as good. I am deciding to get either a B160 or a Custom FatDog, both 15 Watts I think, and I need to crank it. Will be my working amp, so the vintage may not be such a great idea.
its the presettings of the pots, if you have a good tech he can set anything the way you want it, my work horse is a reissue bassman from 1990 modified for harp, i payed $150 for the mod incl other tubes, its loud its powerful, and if someone takes it from you ,you dont care because you just get another one for small money
You're the best, by the way, I'm checking some harmonicas, I live in Brazil and I'd like to buy a Super 20 case of Hering Harmonicas, Do you recomend?thanks
i got another question for you i got this old astatic microphone i found in my grandfathers basement...it is an astatic W80 and the element went bad do you have any idea where i can get another element cheap... besides ebay lol
Great tone and playing!Would you mind telling me the vibrato technique you use at 1:15?It"s a tongue slap 5 draw vibrato using the flutter tongue or diapraghm vibrato.I can"t tell which.I"m working on this technique myself. You use it alot thruout your playing and you have it nailed. Thanks!
any chance you could play a guitar through some of these amps? I would LOVE to hear a guitar played through just about all of these amps from your harmonica series. i do love your harmonica playing though, which is absolutely great, and the tone is amazing too. it's just hard to hear any guitar stuff on here kuz it's riddled with guitar CRAP. love these videos...
there are millions of guitar vids at youtube plus i dont play guitar, sorry, but i have a bunch of bigger amps, which i will play with either a band or at least with a duo
To my ears, this is the one that klingt am besten... Ich meine, all other amps sound geil auch, aber dieser klingt am definierste und vielleicht am cleanest, though this hasn't necessarily to be ein Vorteil, has it? Being a guitar player myself I wish I had die Möglichkeit, die Amps mit der Gitarre anzutesten. Grüsse!
nice denglish (deutsch englisch you are using), das problem ist das ich mit allen amps verschiedene Mikrophone benutze so das ein Vergleich schwierig ist,Regards

I just picked up a 62-64 Gibson Ga-8....what an incredible clean tone...almost close to a vibrolux, but still better.
