I've said this once and I'll say it again. It's uncanny how often the mothers of all these little beauty queens are fat and ugly. Now, I don't usually refer to women in that way because it's unnecessarily demeaning and shallow. I DO choose to refer to these women in that way, however, because they do the same things to their daughters. If you can't love kids and appreciate them for who they are, then it's best that you don't have any at all.

I once walked into my living room to find TLC playing on the television. As I went to find the remote, the commercials ended. Perplexed, I watched for about five minutes before seeing a scene wherein a little girl in a two-piece danced provocatively. I fucking flipped shit. I'm playing a pageant mother in a musical and the first cold read I had to do almost had me crying because my daughter asks me to tell her she's pretty and I have to tell her that I will only if she listens to my directions will she be pretty. It's so sad.
Really, someone should do a case study where they observe one or more of these little girls and monitor their progress through school, dating, etc.

Just got to say that this portrayal of pageant moms as seen on TLC is NOT the way most of us Pageant Moms do things, I dont force my kid to practice or put fake teeth or hair on her, she enjoys pageants and the pageants we do do not require makeup, it is a hobby that I support my daughter in I dont "live" through her, I did pageants as a child and I loved them why would I have to live through my daughter? I LOVED, and still love, being on stage. In my entire pageant life I've only had one tantrum on stage; that was because I was sick. (According to my mom and from my memory). Don't judge what you've never experienced.

I once walked into my living room to find TLC playing on the television. As I went to find the remote, the commercials ended. Perplexed, I watched for about five minutes before seeing a scene wherein a little girl in a two-piece danced provocatively. I fucking flipped shit. I paced around my living room, making fucking speeches in my head. I mean, holy fuck! Fucking ugly-ass moms were taking advantage of their kids to vicariously live out dumbass fantasies. Pissed me right the fuck off.

Children shouldn't be held down while they get their tramp-stramps and get jobs standing on street corners.
If the kids want that kind of crap, they can get that crap when their 18.

I'm playing a pageant mother in a musical and the first cold read I had to do almost had me crying because my daughter asks me to tell her she's pretty and I have to tell her that I will only if she listens to my directions will she be pretty. It's so sad.

Really, someone should do a case study where they observe one or more of these little girls and monitor their progress through school, dating, etc.
This whole over the top sexualization issue is driven by women at least as much as men. The men who do like it are usualy sexual deviates and if you want to feed your children to these wolves feel free to make them dress the part.

Just got to say that this portrayal of pageant moms as seen on TLC is NOT the way most of us Pageant Moms do things, I dont force my kid to practice or put fake teeth or hair on her, she enjoys pageants and the pageants we do do not require makeup, it is a hobby that I support my daughter in I dont "live" through her, I did pageants as a child and I loved them why would I have to live through my daughter? They have mommy pageants too, people should take what they see on TV with a grain of salt

I live on the other side of the ocean, but I got in touch with this HORRID show through cable tv!!! I totally understand what this guy is saying, because the only thing that comes to my mind is torture. I just saw janene's mom (whoever she is) saying "this is all about me and my daughter spending time together, we love to do the hair and makeup together" while the kid struggles to set free crying! @bcrocker33 Well, when I was two I loved having my hair done, and I only wore a little makeup at two. My mom just curled my eyelashes and put a little lip gloss and blush on. Just because I did pageants, didn't mean I couldn't play, nap, or be a baby. Sometimes I napped on stage!
I LOVED, and still love, being on stage. In my entire pageant life I've only had one tantrum on stage; that was because I was sick. (According to my mom and from my memory). Don't judge what you've never experienced.
