In this day and age, for the UK it is, simply we can't afford to send masses of personnel to other countries. In proportion to the US army, what we have sent to Afghanistan is 5 times more in terms of army sizes in comparison.

The problem is the US is doing 90% of the work when its supose to be a war involving the rest of NATO.

I agree. The rest of NATO need to up their commitments. However you must understand, that the UK is no longer an empire... we simply can't send to many troops. Besides with that commitment of 10,000 troops, you also have to look at the replacements there are for those troops. So in reality, we have committed over 30,000 troops to replace the soldiers we already have in Afghanistan. If you get what I mean. But I agree the US is doing most of the work and other NATO countries should more committed

Not to brag or anything but i no alot about world militarys and your countrys stronger then you think. But all in all i no what your saying. You have about 35,000 in your marine corps alone. And in your army which is whats mostly used in afgan theres around 100,000. Even with the US military at almost 3 million troops almost all of them have done multiple tours. Ok im getting off topic :).

Don't get me wrong I really believe we need to finish what we started. But I also know that Obama was the one who was saying how we were wrong for occupying other countrys. I am also saying if this was Bush it would reallly piss alot of people off. The one thing you could say about Bush is he did what he thought was right he didn't care about what it would do to his approval rating.

I think in relation to 'wrong for occupying other countries' was for the Iraq war; which Obama said he would pull US troops out of.

For Afghanistan, the focal point for Obama it seems is that he wants to bring justice to the terrorists who sent a jumbo jet into the twin-towers. Though I wonder how many more lives it is going to cost to get to a stage and to be able to say "we're done".
