  • now that 3ds is out and i got one, i can finally go out and buy the game cuss of the analog stick xD

  • to the gamers who don’t like this game because it is different from the N64 game, I don’t think that nintendo wanted to make the exact same game for the ds. I think that they wanted to add some other things so it could have more re playability and appeal to more gamers.

  • @comedyloverism That’s just my opinion

  • this game looks a little good for only holding 6000 pixels ......

  • The ds version lacks Mario's trademark simble. (Pointing his two fingers)

  • @xXSolidSnake1996Xx THIS IS MY 8TH RESPONSE TO THE SAME QUESTION SO GET THE CUM OUT OF YOUR EYES AND LOOK AT MY REPLIEYS .

  • is this guy doing his Jeff Goldbloom impsression?

  • i love remakes mainly because im a new generation gamer and couldn't get the game when it came out, i wasnt alive when the nes, snes, and n64 came out and remakes are the closest i can get to playing thease masterpices. thumbs up if nintendo should make more remakes.

  • I hate using the control pad to play this game. It's very uncumfortable.

  • 37 "uh"'s in this review, which was interesting as that's the same number of coins shown in the last scene.

  • @IAmClearlyTheBest i know but in the n64 version theres no run button, you run fast automatically.

  • @Mrluigilover3 ahh... i've got it for the 64 so...

  • Thumbs up if you have this game.

  • i find the controlls a bit smudgy and you walk VERY slow.

  • @Mill5160 its because, youre walking! you can run pressing the y button

  • @Nekradude ik u can run by pressing y, im not mental its just the n64 version there was no run button, you run fast automatically and in the DS version theres ACTUALLY a button to run.

  • @Mill5160 then you obviously havent figured out how to spint

  • @TheJiljo This is probably my 6th or 7th responce to the same question but i kno tht theres a sprint button, it's just in the n64 version there was NO run button, u would run fast automatically, but in this game theres a actually a BUTTON to sprint which i thought was quite weird so think before you speak.

  • @Mill5160 hold the y button to run faster

  • @boricua4445 No responce.

  • @Mill5160 You can run by holding the Y button.

  • @catholicgamer99 I was going to troll you for how ridiculous you are but then i took an arrow to the knee...

  • @Mill5160 Apologies, I didn't see the other comments & responses until recently. They were posted a month ago, so they didn't show up on the first page of the comment board. The only reason that I saw them just now is because I clicked on the "View All Comments" button instead of watching the video again.

For the record, though, the only reason that N64 didn't need a run button because it had an analog stick. The further you moved the analog stick, the faster you moved.

  • @catholicgamer99 Sorry i was rude. I though that it would be obvious but i guess not. Btw, thank you fortelling me that.

  • Unless you have a 3DS you shouldn't get it.

Without one it feels so stiff.

  • (1;10) what level is that?!?!??? can someone tell me?

  • @thenintendoman 's comment is 9 months old; it wasn't confirmed that they can be played with the analogue stick.

  • One time I was trying to unlock wario and in the cutscene were the boss dies my game gliched and I died in the cut scene!!!!!>=(

  • this ass reviewing the game, under rates it!!

  • sorry, i use an ipad and need to use the keyboard with 2 fingers!!! Has anyone tried to play this game with the Analog Stick of the 3DS! I will het one and want to know it !

  • has anyone tried to play this game with the anaoog stick of the dDS? I am gonna get one one so yi want to know!

  • Add " yt:stretch=16:9 " to the tags. That will fix the aspect ratio!

  • no it does not look better.

  • sounds like tom fulp of newgrounds

  • Because they do dammit

  • One of my favorite childhood game.. I know it's old, but I bought it anyway for my 3ds since it has an analog stick.. And it works wonders. If you're hesitating and you have a 3ds, get it. It's an old but in my opinion timeless game.

  • the guy sounds like tom fulp founder of newgrounds

  • Great reviews thank you, Very interesting....

  • The guy is 100% right. This is the first game you should get. This was my first game I got, & I absolutely appreciated & loved this game like a child loves his rubber ducky. The drawing of mario & yoshi was a great first-time feature, & it captures the better quality graphics & updated great old game Super Mario 64. Also, the touch screen to move your character & the touch screen minigames were great for a 1st time game too. And with the vs mode, this game is THE game for your 1st DS experience.

  • I have the 3ds, THE ANALONG STICK WORKS AWESOME ON THIS GAME!!

  • They made super mario 64 for the ds why couldn't they of made Zelda oot for the ds?

  • @XxTheGreenDeathxX would u not rather have it on 3ds wiv better graphics 3d motion sensoring and more than just..a port!?

  • @JordanM246 yes i cant wait i preordered it but what i mean is this was like one of the first ds games (i think) and it was made in like 2006-7? so why couldnt they had it. now they dont need to because of the 3ds get what i mean

  • There are more stars then in the n64 version.

  • WHy didn't they just make another game instead of re-releasing an old gamje on a smaller screen?

  • Comment removed

  • i have a 3ds! a black one! (the best and coolest!) and im saveing up fpr this game but the only worry i have playing on this game is that will the top screen be to small because for some reason they have zoomed the top screen of that game! :i

  • This is still the best game on DS.

  • ppl say they ruind mario 64...they improved graphics, added luigi wario and yoshi , added better graphics and power ups and music and added minigames so how the fuck did they ruin it!?

  • @101cgk

    and more stars

  • I freaking miss the gameboy.

  • I recently started playing and the controls are a nightmare.

  • Thumbs up if you have gotten all 150 stars!

  • @xdlugia1 well i got all 240 stars including the castles secret stars (without cheats)

  • @simplemagickids err... 240? Only Mario galaxy has 240 stars... Mario 64 has 120, 64 DS has 150.

  • @xdlugia1 NO! 240 on 64 DS NO LIES!

  • @simplemagickids YES IT IS LIES! Just search for Mario 64 DS all stars and you will find out that it is 150. Also when you get 150 it says that your list is complete and you will get access to the castle roof.

  • lol the sound at the very beginning of this vid is the sound that you hear when you start your Wii console lol

  • @SuperXD25 ...Because it is...

  • @SuperXD25 umm yeah you have to turn on your wii or else yer cant play :P

  • wow thats weird this was my first ds game

  • I'm so getting this!

  • its weird how on my game i don't get that "touch to start" star once i turn it on

  • @leppaberry You only get a "Touch to start" prompt the first time you load the game.

  • There should be a pop-on analog stick acesory for the DS.

  • Once the 3ds comes out and we can play it with the analog stick on that, this game will be PERFECTED

  • @randomdude581 Who's to say Nintendo will make the old DS games work with the analogue stick? :P

  • @thenintendoman If the 3DS plays DS games by means of software-based emulation (which will be discussed in detail further on), it won’t be difficult for Nintendo to remap the D-pad to the slide pad. It’s been done before with certain systems on the Wii’s Virtual Console, like the SNES and SEGA Genesis. When playing a game for one of those systems, you can use the GameCube or Classic Controller’s left analog stick instead of the controller’s D-pad. So they probably will let you use the slide pad.

  • @thenintendoman nintendo did... it said it would work with all ds games...so yep...yea..

  • @thenintendoman you have a good point

  • @thenintendoman oh, they better, otherwise that may just hinder the possibility of me purchasing the 3ds

  • @thenintendoman we can only hope that nintendo makes the 3ds able to play ds hardware with the joystick. but I agree that that would make this game really awesome! but think about it. I thinkits likely that you could 'cause the joystick is like the standard control on the 3ds.

  • @thenintendoman they already said they would

  • @thenintendoman Nintendo is, actually. It's been confirmed to work in place of the D-pad, if you want to use it.

  • @thenintendoman they do i preodered a 3ds and i asked them about it you can play all the older games with the analog stick

  • @thenintendoman They analog stick does work with older games. I've seen it in action!

  • @thenintendoman It will! Some Japanese guys have tested it!

  • @thenintendoman kill-joy

  • @thenintendoman I hope it will work with it :) 4 days left ..

  • @gabrielthornmusic all ds games work on the 3ds with the analog stick.

  • @thenintendoman I played it on the 3DS. it works.

  • @thenintendoman It does :) Playing it right now

  • @thenintendoman cause they did!(maybe? idk i dont have it)

  • @thenintendoman you can use the analogue stick

  • @thenintendoman they do.

  • @thenintendoman they do

  • @thenintendoman the fact that i have it end it those :-)

  • @thenintendoman they work with the anolog stick I have a 3ds

  • @thenintendoman it does lol but i lost mine sm64ds!!! :' (

  • @thenintendoman they do

  • @thenintendoman So far the ds games I've been playing do work with both the cross pad and analog slider. (Metroid prime hunter and golden sun dark dawn)

  • @thenintendoman The do :p

  • @thenintendoman it works i tried it but your comment was said 7 months ago so bleh

  • @thenintendoman it is working with the analog stick dude !

  • @thenintendoman im getting this game tomorrow for my 3DS and ill tell u how much better it makes game play

  • @thenintendoman It works with the analog stick, I've seen YouTube videos of it. :D

  • @mickeymouse12678 do you have a 3ds?

  • @mickeymouse12678 I have the 3ds, and i have Super Mario 64 ds, and it doesn't work.

  • @thenintendoman they are

  • @thenintendoman The analog stick doesnt, i tried. ;)

  • @thenintendoman i saw this video where they played super mario 64 ds on the 3ds with the analog stick

  • @thenintendoman it does so suck it!!!!!!

  • @thenintendoman actually, all old ds games work with the analog stick

  • @thenintendoman the comment is 8 years old, but stil... I tried my super mario 64 DS on my 3DS and analogue stick worked perfectly so screw you!

  • @thenintendoman well the ds games work with the analog stick i tryed it and it worked

  • @thenintendoman WELL IT DOES! ;D

  • @thenintendoman

It does my friend. I have it. C:

  • @randomdude581 you got that right

  • @randomdude581 you still need to hold Y to run :(

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG Ehh, its tolerable.

  • @randomdude581 It is i have it

  • @randomdude581 I ordered mine 10 minutes ago............ahhhhhhh I can't wait to dust of this game and see how it works with the analog stick

  • @randomdude581 Tried it. It just feels so good!

  • this game is gonna be even better if you play it on the new upcoming 3ds :D

  • Is this worth getting if we still have the original Super Mario 64?

  • @Ryanmiller70 More missions, stars, mini games, playable characters, co-op, and enhanced graphics? I say "yes."

  • Vectrex, which I have one of, had ONLY an analog stick. Analog stick and four buttons.

Not to mention a Vectrex screen. It had some 3d games. You can never understand how nice vector monitors look unless you acutally see one in person. I've never seen one outside of an old arcade cabinet that you can't find these days OR the vectrex.

It has a laser that draws from point to point instead of pixels. What you get is CRAZY sharp, no aliasing, .. sigh.. It's awesome

To see it go to: v=XLson0x4_J4

  • Continued: If you want to see the Vectrex controller go to v=rFlHdlfZQgI

If you watch the other video I put a link to (v=XLson0x4_J4) You will see some of the 3d power of the console. I know it's not impressive for some of you, but if you are interested in the history of consoles or technology in general you will probably find it fascinating.

Like with the 3d sub game, hyperchase (may not be in the video, but CGR has a video if it) or Pole Position, I have no idea how the one laser does it.

  • BEST GAME FOR DS!!!

  • thanks, u have to be an ign insider to watch this, thanks u again

  • i hope they release super mario galaxy on the 3ds, that would be awesome

  • i dont like the DS version as much as the N64 version

  • wait mario didn't come out of a pipe in the begging of the DS version

  • @LegoKing345 Yeah, i notes that too, W.E.I.R.D.

  • To be honest, I'ma hold off on buying this game until the 3DS comes out because a) that system has an analog stick & b) this game will look nicer next to the Ocarina of Time remake.

  • @fearful7

Wait a second... this game is coming to the 3DS?

  • @Sonic4K6 No, but it can play old DS games (like this one) and it has an analog stick. And like the reviewer said, the D-pad or touch screen will never feel as great as an analog stick.

  • @fearful7 i doubt that'll work

  • thanks

  • Classic. This was my first DS game and I still play it to this day. :)

And it took me freakin forever to get all 150 stars. -_-

  • i have this game. its meh favorite DS game EVER!!!

  • wtf its not better then the original.

    1. difficulty level way higher in the original.

    2. characters look better on DS, but everything else looks worse, colors, textures and stuff are way better and stable (looks a bit pixelised on DS and it looks not so good) in the original.

    3. the 30 bonus stars are boring, its just some red coins bullshit etc. etc......

    4. you dont get to see the "legendary" yoshi who gives you 100 lifes at the end, well, it was funny

    5. nostalgia makes me like original

  • they should have released this for the 3ds

  • i lost this

  • I love this game.. However Nintendo needs to make an Ocarina of time or Majoras Mask ds remake! If they did.. I would buy a DSI XL and play and replay that game night and day.. God.. I wish they would make it D:

  • @Franisbeautifulx3 aaah hell yeah....

  • @Franisbeautifulx3 There's an Oot remake being made for the 3DS right now.

  • dis was my first ds game and one of my first n64 games ♥

  • nintendo made a super mario 64 DS.....

when are they gonna make a majora's mask DS or ocarina of time DS???

what is taking so long nintendo!

  • so later im' getting a DS lite i will get this game unless they have yoshi's island

  • They made a remake for gamecube.

  • the really need need to make an ocarina of time remake for the wii

  • i just got a dsi and its my first ds. i was wondering, i havent bought any games for it yet. do you think i should get this, or mario kart ds?

  • @thekrakowiak4 mario kart, new super mario bros, a pokemon title and metroid prime hunters

  • IGN's being a fanboy for Mario in this review. Mario 64 may be outdated a bit, but on the N64 you can still have some great fun, but the controls for this version are awful, and changing between characters is a chore. Besides the average touch minigames, almost everything thing they tried to add to the game fell short.

  • you think the game is awful because you are not a real gamer and you cannot apreciate a good. i liked this game so much as i liked new super mario bros and in my opinion i think yhe control pad is even better than the analog styck. your commentary sucks and you suck even more

  • @MrTiagosuper i agree ive played both versions and i like the DS Version more.

  • I'm actually playing this game with finger-stylus so it feels like analog

  • Now where's our dang ocarina of time port?

  • funny I was just looking at a bunch of zelda game reviews

  • it wouldnt work with the controls

  • @ Flash11l19

I have to disagree, the character models look much better IMO. Though some of the environment could have used some improvements

  • I love this game so much its great. good gob nintendo

  • new super mario bros Ds (not wii) has most of the games free

  • The DS version is superior in all ways to the N64 one. I prefer the DPad controls over the clunky, over sensitive analog controls.

  • I like the n64 version better, mainly because it's original, and the first TRUE analog controlled 3D game, but this looks like a kick ass game though, you can play as Luigi. The n64 version has alot of glitches, theres one where you can beat the game without getting alot of stars.

  • And bowser looks a whole lot better on this than the N64 version.

  • Totally! I was gonna say the same thing

    Hey, wanna' sub' trade?

  • @Maxthemetalkid

    not true

  • the one reason I prefer the n64 version is because of mario's design=D he looks so damn awesome^^

but the ds version is outstanding, it really is a great remake

  • @tarkeke hellz yeah

  • this was my first ds game and i loved it..ecspecially cuz i never played the original n64 game

  • @akilla2007

    same reson i bought mine

    lol

  • dude alot of the minigames are taken from super mario bros ds.

  • no, it's actually the other way around. Mario 64 DS came out before New Super Mario Bros(if that's what your thinking about) by atleast one year.

  • i like the n64 version better, but i dont have one and i love this!!!
