  • I am so sick of waiters complaining about not receiving a tip. Tipping is NOT an entitlement but an incentive given IF the service is good. How well you are tipped should depend on the quality of your service, ranging from 15-25%. Why should customers be responsible for paying this "unspoken service fee" because management does not want to pay you fairly?

Customer service is just that. Customer service. Should we also tip everyone else who does their job as they should?

    Or maybe you're not ge

  • i think all restaurants should let customers know where they are on paying their servers. i know that my friend makes $8/hour as a server and tips are seen as extra money for doing an excellent job. it's not the same everywhere, but not everybody is going to research tipping protocol for different areas if they travel.

  • OMG My mom used to yell at the customers and she still got to keep her job.. LOL . She used to yell : ''I DON'T WANT YOUR F*CKING LOOSE CHANGE. I've been busting my ass this whole time just to get your order right, make sure you food is warm and treated you better than most customers. " Somebody got it on video and she actually got a standing ovation from the rest of the waiters/ waitresses at her work.

  • Well, this is good for those of us who were never taught to tip or taught how much to tip :)

  • interesting that the video that sparked this is gone and the user. hi5

  • It's illegal to tip where I'm from (Malaysia). But I always tip when I go overseas. Now I know I should tip more when I'm in America. Thanks :)

  • My mom is a waitress. My dad is a bartender. My brother is a host. Not tipping or tipping badly is one of the worst things you can do to my family. Every night my family goes out and works for hours and when people dont tip we end up losing money. Unfortunately tipping is only suggested. At least parties of 8 have a gratuity charge added to their bill.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. By far my favorite youtuber! I used to be a waitress and I remember getting $1.33 on and $33.67 bill... sweet the change from the $35.00 you gave me... it's just really sad because I always went out of my way to be really nice and attentive to them.

  • MY FAMILY ALWAYS LEAVES A TIP. ^-^

  • You are not entitled to a tip. I wouldn't tip you just to see your indignant reaction.

  • @MegaChairmanMao And you aren't required to live. Stop breathing in good air, you're wasting it.

  • my mom just watched this video(she works at chilis) and she kissed her finger pionted to the screen and said "aw love you youtube person"

  • It is because your country sucks dick. waiters are supposed to be payed by their bosses proper wage for work, tips is a bonus

  • well it depends on how well they served, if they are rude and short, why should we give them 20% more?

  • Americans please tip and inform yourself and what services you should be tipping. I work as a massage therapist and some people don't know it's customary to leave a tip. Can you imagine running for an hour and not getting food after your work out? Because that's what I'm faced with when I work all day and get no tips. I normally tip waiters 20-25% percent unless they are DICKS.

  • I think the only time I didn't tip the waiter when she was extremely rude and stubborn. I tip depending on the service. It was at the Airmont Diner and the service sucked. I went through 2 burgers and never got one that was cooked right. After dinner, I got pizza. Only time I didn't tip because it was the only time service sucked. Except another time at Freindly's when I was little, but that's the same story.

  • It sucks to work in United States as a server I guess, you guys don't even make anywhere close to minimum wage! HAHAHA.

  • I tip depending on the service but I always tip a minimum 5% of the bill. At max, if the service is great, I'll tip 20% of the bill.

  • I was in the U.S a few months back and I only tipped 2$ on a 50$ bill, because here in The Netherlands servers just get payed from their salary and often the tip is to pay for a company weekend out or something. The server started being really rude instead of just explaining how tipping worked in the U.S. In the end we just left in a fowl mood and told the manager that the server was really rude. I'm glad I know why now, but he should've just explained ;-)

  • An something else...it is not fucking America!!!! America is the whoooole fucking continent...make it right it's US....I like you so don't fucking screw it up

  • The fucked up american system strikes back!

I do tip, but only when it's a very good service, have you notice some waiter are like shity waiters...i will not tip if I'm not pleased, make a good job the I'll tip don't you think?

  • THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!! OMG.

  • Amen! Thank you for this video!

  • Everyone should take one job in the service industry just to at least know what the hell it's like.

  • Just remember, if you buy a canoe, paint it black so it won't tip.

...but seriously, I had a party of 20 in my section last night...they took up five tables and stayed for 3 and a half hours...and left me 3.78 on a nearly 400 dollar check. It's only a matter of time before a Fajita skillet becomes a very efficient bludgeon.

  • it will be nice that those states make minimum wage higher for servers. I believe here in California most if not all make 8.00 per hour or more, the same minimum wage as if you were to work in a factory or so, I know this because I have friends in that field, even if they don't make enough on tips they can still manage to survive. and the standard for tipping here is 15 % some restaurants if you have a party of 5 and up the 15% tip is already add it to your final bill.

  • At a restaurant, I'll pay exactly the amount I'm CHARGED for. Our minimum wage is the equivalent of about $10 over here; if employees deserve a gratuity for above-average service, they'll get it.

  • Well I actually found this video informative because I thought the proper amount to tip was 15%... I now feel like I screwed my servers.

  • I usually tip fairly but when the server gives me shitty service I don't give jackshit!

  • I don't like eating out in the US, not because of tipping, but because the tax is never there on the menu price, it's always added on afterwards and I forget about it (plus I can never remember what the tax rate is). When the bill comes it's always more than I expect and then I freak out about the tip and just end up throwing a bunch of 1s at the table and hoping it's enough and that the server doesn't hate me

  • once in middle school I got landed with my friends food bill at Johnny Rocket's and did not tip….

I feel like a terrible person. But, ever since… I over tip. A lot.

  • LMAO The bitch who made the Why I Gotta Tip? video closed her youtube account!!!

Seriously, though, in CT we're pretty lucky. Minimum for waiters is $5.69 an hour though the cost of living is higher in CT than NJ. I hate it when I go out with friends and they're like, "Oh, well, I paid 7.00 for these pancakes and coffee so I'm going to leave $1.50.

MOTHER FUCKER SPARE THE EXTRA 50 CENTS OR FUCK OFF!

  • If you don't agree with tipping, order to-go food and take your ass home. Your taking up that server's table when they could have someone sitting their with a moral compass!

  • The country I live in don't need a tipping system. Why? Because the total amount of money written on all our bills include "service charge" and "goods and service tax" (GST).

  • I love you Nick. You actually know how to show compassion and empathy for others. It disgusts me how rare that is with the amount of greedy-ass people in this country. Smh. Can't stand ignorant people with no concern for others. They deserve to find roaches in their food.

  • I thought they only taxed for like 15%... thus 10-20% tips

  • oh. my. goodness. can I please marry you!? and ken?! I waited tables for many years, and here in NC we make $2.13 an hour... and after tipping out for bussers, bartenders and hostesses, (who also only make $2.13, so they deserve that tip out) if you don't tip me I LOSE money from waiting on your table! JERK! haha.

Worst thing I ever heard from the good ole bible belt was "Jesus only wants 10% why should I give you 20%?" SIGH

  • @drkellyncsu OMG really? Only 2.13$? You should get a different job because that's just not worth it :s

  • PROPS TO YOU, SIR. You forgot to cover the tip out. If I have to tip out by Kitchen and my Bartender on my SALES, then when you don't tip, I PAY!!!!!

  • @jeny311 ah, I see it's on the sections where others are posting about this issue in your video. Excellent.

  • im from canada, and i thank god everytime when someone dont tip that im not serving in america, ,otherwise ... i'd chase them, n take watever they've got in their wallet/purse!!!!!!! i feel bad for u americans! :( if u can't afford to tip, then dont EAT out!!!!

  • Im a server but if I go out and I have a shit server I tip ten percent. >.> If I work my ass off there isn't a reason they cant either.

  • I'm in love <3 i swear it.

  • NICK I OFFICIALLY LOVE YOU

  • My mom used to be a server, and she's served people like The Pussy Cat Dolls. (Because she works at an airport) When the Pussy Cat dolls came in, she ended up serving them but didn't realize who they were because there wasn't all the makeup and shit on their faces. It's amazing how rude people can be. the Pussy Cat Dolls are probably millionaires, and they didn't even leave a tip. My mom has experience working there so I know it wasn't because of bad service. so I thought I'd share this story :)

  • I love you officially....you understand how to tip waitress's completely,I was one for many years.....and that shit PISSED ME OFF when people tipped me shitty....

  • Right after I watched this video a few months ago, Igot a waitress job a few days later

  • Ok, watched the whole thing. I so completely agree with you that it's not even funny. I cannot tell you how many times I have served someone, and they've had a $100+ bill and they either tip me NOTHING, or $1 or some other small amount. OR even better is when people just don't bother to pay at all. Yep, you earn the asshole crown because your waitress has to pay for that.

So, point: APPLAUSE. It is making me angry thinking about this. Also, I would totally watch your reality show idea!

  • I have worked as a waitress, a bartender, and a server. Even at around $9 per hour, I'm making fuck all for money. So when I go out, I usually tip 20% every time.

  • Oh god, $2.15? Is that even legal? Regardless of whether or not someone works somewhere where they can get tipped, shouldn't someone be payed at least minimum wage? For god's sake PLEASE tell me minimum wage there is NOT $2.15 D= that's horrifying!

  • "I'm gonna go buy a new juicy purse" LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO I'm laughi g so hard xDDD

  • I'm from Poland and we have a rule here to give 10% tip (at least). it's not obligatory, but if you don't do it, you're a douchebag.

  • I totally agree with this video!! But sometimes I don't leave a tip at all! Alright alright call me a b*tch for not leaving one. Come to me when someone with a rude attitude comes by my table serving us food.

  • Most awesome reaction was when I gave the waiter a tip worth twice of the food that I ate, his face was priceless.

  • THANK YOUUUUU! i swear to god you are one of the few nice and considerate people i have come across in my life. THANK YOU FOR HAVING COMMON SENSE and sharing it with people. :]

  • I agree that people need to tip. I tip generously myself, and even have a tip calculator to make sure I'm not ripping our server off. However, when the servers in *MY* town, brag about going home every day with well over 200 in tips, I get a bit annoyed. I work a minimum wage job, and far more hours than they do, and they make more in a day, then I do in a week. Do you have any idea how infuriating that is? Ugh, slightly related, I just wanted to rant.

  • @TheMusicalHogwarts It's not consistent money flow, just keep that in mind. Some days you come home with $100+, others you come home with $10. Also, we work our asses off to make that much (not saying that you don't too).

  • @oliviajune91 It is in my town. Which is really strange, we're a small city. Friendly people I guess. But, I mean, one of my friends managed to save up and by the newest iPhone within two weeks without damaging his bank account. He can do stuff like that on a regular basis, just from the tips he gets. In my town, it's better to work as a waiter with poor pay and excellent tips, rather than as someone who works minimum wage with shitty tips.

  • it's actually 10%?

  • In texas we servers get paid 2.13 an hour. i have to sweep bones off the floor bc people do not know how to keep food on their plates! i have to tell your kids to sit down and keep out of my way aaaand i have to hear stupid questions like, 'what do you have to drink' or 'what do you recommend?' its a buffalo wild wings, of course i'm gonna recommend the wings!

  • Thank you sooo much! i am a server and go crazy when i get a crappy tip or no tip at all!

  • Comment removed

  • finally someone understands me !!! i totally hate it when people don't tip it drives me bonkers !!!!.........haha i said bonkers !!!

  • I will tip any server who is polite they dont have to be constantly smiling but they have to be nice. However if you are rude you are not doing your job properly and have made my experience as the customer less enjoyable and therefor do not get a tip.

  • I didn't know that we're suppose to tip at least 20%. :O I just came to US from Malaysia, I've been tipping only 10% because in Malaysia, service charges in restaurants are 10%. Now I know!

  • this is funny to me because I love tipping a significant amount. <3

  • @dudderjohanna that never happened with my mother so she screamed at the old lady who said she sucked at waiting LOL;)

  • If you dont do your job well... I will not tip you... If you are nice and do a good to normal job... I will tip you...

  • i agree my mom is a server when she is achuly an ingenier.... so TIP PLEASE

  • Sorry...

  • I get paid 10.25/hr as a server and our tips are divided equally amongst the other servers and cooks.

  • I was a server, I know. You have to tip because that's what you do. Go to Mcdonalds if you're cheap. Buuutttt do you realize that it is illegal to pay someone less than minimum wage, and the employers must compensate for what they don't make in tips.

  • @purpleisrad Also I made 3.50 an hour, I didn't realize that I had it good - it was pizza hut baha

  • @purpleisrad Most don't, though, and that's bullshit. The minimum wage should be at least $8, FOR EVERYONE. Because even $8 an hour doesn't go very far either.

  • I'm a server and in NH we get payed about $3.50. And if people don't tip it's really just rude, especially if the service they got wasn't MY fault cuz the food was bad. I DON'T COOK THE FOOD.I SERVE IT. I'm a damn good waitress, and most of the people that don't leave tips are teenagers to 20somethin year olds. Cheap pricks.

  • waiter: ur bill is 5 dollers sir

    guy: *gives 5 dollers*

waiter: ahh *cough* cough* any tip?

    guy: no sorry ha ha

waiter: *shoots guy in the head then burns him and spread his ashes over a justin bieber album*

    waiter: NEXT YOU BETTER TIP.............BITCH!

  • I usually tip pretty well. I don't expect service for a king and queen, just some regular ass service. If the server is just plain awful at their job, then they shouldn't get a tip. Bad behavior shouldn't be rewarded in my opinion. I don't think I've ever come across a situation where the service was bad enough that I didn't tip.. So I don't even know if I would have the guts to not tip a person. I don't like being mean :(

  • I usually tip $2-$3 on every meal I eat out, personally, which is more than 20% but, there are so many factors in tipping a server. Don't keep my drink filled? less tip. See you goofing off instead of getting me something i asked for? less tip. Not giving a fuck = No Tip. Other than that this video comes off as complaining as i am sick and tired of hearing this from every server friend i know. Find a different job, or do your job better. That goes for ANY JOB.

  • I have a hard time understanding the issue.

But with that being said - I live in Denmark, where we don't tip - ever, I have never tipped or know of any any who has - it's just not in our culture.

  • That's why I get take out.

  • WOW, thank you so much for addressing this issue. I am a server trying to pay my way through college, and although I work at an upscale restaurant catering to upper middle class people, I (and everyone I work with) have still had problems with people tipping too little. I'm not even asking for twenty percent. I'm asking for a decent tip (etiquette says you should tip decent to great service anywhere from 15-20%). If you're not going to tip well, don't go out to eat. It's that simple.

  • I do tip if I go to a fancy reastraunt tthough

As long as the waiter isn't an ass

  • Waiters get MIN wage now. I don't think I should have to pay servers like at sonic because they get paid for bringing my food out. I'm not gonna double pay them. They get more then I do.

I do wait and I don't tip. I don't care. No one tips me.

  • i feel that this person was born a female.

  • I worked as a server, I hear you on this by a 100%; I hated it when I got like 1$ per 20$; at least 4$ is good for a 20% tip off that. SO yes....I am glad I am not a server anymore, but it is annoying to go out and see the servers get stiiffed, I usually leave 5 to 10$ per tip.

  • 2,50$ x 8h a day x 30 days (minus 4 sundays moth) = 520 dollars... That's a great monthly income here in Brazil, when it comes to waiting tables... The minimum wage here is 347 dollars (which is not enough, tough, but most people cope with it). So, is life really that hard in the US, so expensive? Everything there, at least in ebay, is way cheaper. So, what is it? Is it the food prices that makes it so unpolite not to tip? This is just a cutural doubt, cuz I don't know how stuff works there.

  • @zedasilva3 A month's worth of groceries for a family of four in the US is about $400. In northern states, a month's worth of winter heating can run $250. And most people expect to spend $500 - $2000 a month on housing. The fuel for your car may run $150. Insurance for the car might be another $100-250. A cheap haircut might run $15.

  • @glorpy2 And your country has a 3x larger GDP than any other in the world. I see something wrong there... Wasn't it about time to call for a second American Revolution to take back the money worked for? We tried this in Brazil, fighting for equality, but the American Navy helped our military, then 20 years of dicatorship begun, in 1964, Cold War. Now, past is gone, get up and fight! A government has to fear its people, not the opposite!

  • what if you have a really rude waiter do u still tip them then?

  • @ladylatrice77 I usually do, I tip 10% for shitty service, 20% for good service. I've tipped up to 50% before ($10 on a $20 bill).

  • Ha, your video in the end is pretty ironic for me. I had a black family who comes to eat at my restaurant several times and NEVER do they tip, and yet they have their iPhones out so clearly they had the money, and damn were they fuckin demanding too. People like that seriously piss me off, and so many customers are friggin stupid and have no idea how to correctly tip. Tips are our main income, people!

  • @mmcg91 ...and in what way does the fact that they are black prove your point? Assholes are assholes, no matter their skin colour, it's not necessary to mention that. Also, wrong use of the word "ironic".

  • My boyfriend was the one who taught me about tipping. I lived close by a 24hr breakfast place that I constantly went to, and it never occurred me to tip until I started dating him. Once I learned I felt like shit, and this video reminds me of what I shitty person I was (when it came to tipping). Atleast, when he would take me out I was the one that laid down the tip so I started making up for it. I did not know how much waiters/servers made. Its ridiculous - beggars make more money a day on avg

  • Including your friendly Starbucks baristas! But especially your restaurant servers.

  • I was a server in college and have my bachelors in hospitality management.

The percentage of your wage that you're taxed for as a server depends on the establishment in Pennsylvania and varies from state to state. Some restaurants base what percentage of tip you are taxed for on the length of your shift. For example: a 5 hour shift may be taxed assuming an 8% tip average while a 7 hour shift assumes a 12% average.

  • It's amazing, every other industry that gets paid shit unionizes... Screw tipping, if you can't stand up for yourself and get paid the proper amount, I'm not going to support that corrupt system. (Luckily, in the city I live in, there are tipless restaurants, not a lot but they pay their servers properly so you don't have to, and If you try to tip, you'll usually get yelled at by your server. It's pretty fun to watch. so I'll just go to those.)

  • 0:39 DORA ALL THE WAY.

  • Wow! This is so Reservoir Dogs! To be honest, it's hard to say where I stand on this issue. Given the way that the system works, tipping is the best thing to do, but I don't think the system should work the way it does. Servers should get paid at the same rate that everyone else does, and the difference should just come out of an increased cost in the food. If it worked that way, this silly societal question of propriety would disappear.

  • I've never worked as a server, but I have worked in the hotel service, and it's similar there as well. You get paid $3 an hr, and rely on tips. So I understand, thats why I get funny looks from people because I always leave a very good tip, even if I'm just getting take out chinese.

  • I work at a pizza place, and when people come in to pick up their pizzas, they usually don't tip. Honestly, that's fine with me. But it's the people who come in with their five screaming children, put us through a very complicated order, and then make a huge mess who piss me off when they don't tip. On the flip side, the people who tip extra make my day, and I send good Carma waves in their direction.

  • In Florida, we eat out a lot because of the numerous restaurants here. A tip is never an option; it's expected. I have a friend who always asks, "Are you guys going to tip?" Are you retarded, bitch? Duh.

  • Tipping is just throwing your money away.

  • Comparing paid work to being a slave? What a fucking asshole.

  • @carlcon slavery gets shit done. look at the pyramids.

    umad?

  • @carlcon Yeah, cause slaves don't work at all! /sarcasm

  • i literally love you. seriously. everything you said is true... and if you think it isn't then you're just a jerk. yeah, you shouldn't tip your server if they're being an asshole... but if they're doing their job right then damn well you should... otherwise it's realllll hard for us to pay rent. just saying.

  • Oh.. my.. god.. I love you. No, seriously. I. Love. You. "If you can't afford to tip your server, don't go out to eat." <-- one of the best lines in the video. I work in MS and I make $2.13 an hour. We have to "tip share" which is based on our SALES, NOT our tips and we have no choice in the matter. In other words, we tpay as though we got a tip, even if we didn't. Thank you for saying all the things I cannot and I WILL be sharing this video with everyone I know.

  • While I agree with most of this video... I suddenly feel like I'm not "part of the majority" who tips 20% unless the service is lacking.

  • TIP: To Insure Promptness. That's why I don't usually tip. If I go there often, I tip. Or if the service was great, but other than that, I won't. Because of the acronym.

  • Oh wow, 20%? Ahahahah its 15% normal here. But I'd love people to tip me 20%! I hate when people don't tip whatsoever, it's annoying, especially when I work my ass off to make sure everythings perfect for them. When I personally am being served at a restaurant I always tip a generous amount to make up for the cheapos that they have already served.

  • I'm so glad I live in Australia. This tipping shit is confusing.

  • @fml72fml 1. Every restaurant you have ever visited remembers you.You get what I am saying right?

    2. They are obligated to pay the difference in some places. However, they have a limit before you are fired. They will only cover you so many times before they let you go. I have seen whole shifts let go due to the customers, not servers.

    3. They will just start adding gratuity to checks if people stop tipping, forcing people to tip bad servers. Who will give a shit about your refill then?

  • Ok,this video pissed me off. I am a server in las vegas. I DO NOT expect tips. I EARN them. For all you people who say you work for $2.13 or $2.64 an hour, you choose to!!! That does not mean you are entitled to a tip. I have no problem stiffing a rude, arrogant server. Again, you need to earn your tips. And if you feel you are not making enough, quit!!!

  • @twiggystwin You might be a bit biased due to living in a major city. Those in small towns have to deal with chronic nontippers who just do not tip...period. Imagine working 8 hours, smiling and being friendly, and your entire crew only makes about 30 bucks that day each, even though everyone had a busy night. And about half of your tables stiffed you. Small town truth: If someone gets a manager to praise your serving skills and says you were 'AMAZING' you will not get a tip. Crazy.

  • @MissSurreal YES! OMG! I worked at this smaller bar in a 50,000 pop city. There was only one girl on shift at a time, and we would be a waitress, bartender, server, porter, cleaner, etc, and by the time I quit I was lucky to make $10 a shift. WTF is wrong with people?

  • If my bill is $100, what gives you the right to extort $120 from me instead? Everybody works hard at their job, so why do some folks get to demand a bonus from every customer they deal with. The guy at Best Buy doesn't threaten to spit in my big screen TV if I don't pay him a 20% surcharge under the table.

  • @Toa2d how about instead of complaining about leaving a tip like everyone else should you go eat at mcdonalds where you belong and suffer a stroke and die fat shit

  • Instead of bitching about people not donating money for your taxes, why not bitch about fixing the taxes themselves.

  • Okay. From what I can tell, wages can be as low as $2.13 an hour, and are $2.63 in Massachusetts, $5 in Conneticut, and $8 in California.

I live in California, and was taught to that 15% is an average tip. Personally, though? I'd rather pay a server too much than too little. It's their damn wage, and I don't go out to eat when I can't afford it. It looks like most guides recommend you tip 15%, with 20% for "special service", even when they admit that waiters are being taxed for 20% tips.

  • @fml72fml have you ever worked a volume shift (which is sometimes 13-15 hours of non-stop SPRINTING table service) or served 7 tables of angry, shopping new yorkers on a Saturday evening? No, my job isn't the hardest in the world, but it's not exactly worth working 5 hours and making $15 in tips... which is sometimes the case.

  • @fml72fml The employer is obligated by law to pay you up-to minimum wage, but they get out of that because they don't handle your cash tips. You're supposed to report your cash tips in your taxes, yes, but that isn't always through your company. I work for Ruby Tuesday and my pay checks for 30-40 hour serving weeks are usually around $20.

  • Yes, I'm a server as well... Thank you for this. Everyone needs to see this. :)... If a server says these things, then they're just a bitchy server. It's kind of sad that you basically highlighted two of the worst profiles of people who don't tip _ Ever _... I'm not going to point them out, but if you're a server, you know who I mean.

  • @fml72fml Did you figure this out all on your own? I'd love to see that legislation. While I agree you must tip on service, there are many out there that are just cheap and don't tip. I applaud this video, but remind people to tip according to service. Lousy service deserves a lousy tip. And eating out is expensive....don't go to a restaurant and not expect to tip.

  • As things currently stand, tipping is important. There should be a requirement that tips or not, servers should make minimum wage though. They work just like everyone else and it should be their employers who pay them like always. Employers should include the service in the price of the meal and give a living wage, then we wouldn't have this problem because people would know what they have to pay. And for the state to tax income not really made is also wrong especially when they are low income.

  • Man, I have never worked at a restaurant where the servers made over 3$ I find it ridiculous when people don't tip. Either stay home and eat, or eat somewhere you're not expected to tip. This is why I never worked as a server either, people are fucking assholes.

  • Ohhkay, tanks Nick now I know how to get 20% ! No seriously..

  • I'm a server in Canada and I don't believe in mandatory tipping, at least not here. I get paid more than minimum wage (I make 10$ an hour) and all of the other servers here are paid at least minimum as well. I don't mind an extra few bucks here or there if you think my service was exceptional because I think that's what tips should be about. I can't stand the rest of co-workers who bitch about not getting tips when they are lousy at what they do.

  • @brettallenwong I'm in Canada too and it's difficult to live even on our minimum wage. I fully believe in tipping and I always over tip when I go out. Being a server sucks balls.

  • I would like to make it clear that when you order pizza and there is a delivery charge THAT IS NOT A TIP!!! I deliver pizzas and I get to keep the $2 charge if I drive my car but this is not a tip or even part of the tip, this is a charge added on to the bill so you dont have to leave your house! TIP YOUR PIZZA GUYS REGARDLESS!!!

  • Ohmygod, I feel so bad, my uncle had me pay for a pizza he ordered and since I've never ordered a pizza before in my life I had no idea you were supposed to tip. :( I feel awful

  • I'm a waiter, and I understand that a tip, is a tip. It's at the discretion of the customer, you don't have to give me 20%. If you want to tip, tip. Otherwise, we get it. Then again, maybe it's different in the US.

  • @meroxyersox it IS different... that's why he put it in the annotation.

  • I was always told it was 15-20%

My family always has me do the math for tips XD

  • @kharper39 well perhaps they should petition for better wages? If the price of food is 20% higher the profiit could be passed on, but the greedy employers wouldnt do, i dont see why you dont think they should get payed properly?

  • @joshthegreat666 try doing it your way...diningout would double your cost and service would dramatically fall off,,,i do not get your posture on this??continue not tipping accordlingly and ENJOY your food and drinks..just saying...

  • i did not order that lemonade..(you drank 4 of them)should be free refills on that homemade shit i drive a 300(knock off bentley)let me see a manager...i want some free shit..

  • did you know black people dont tip??get used to it,they blame slavery for it....group ofblack people walk in,,,damn gonna lose money on this one..time and time again...

  • @kharper39 How about you go and be a racist bastard somewhere else? don't put an ENTIRE race of people into a small category like that.

  • I had no idea people didn't tip.. I'm 16 years old and I've never left anything less than 15% and 15% was for really slow service. And I live in a state where they make 8.25 an hour (minimum wage.) I find it so disrespectful not to tip. They're providing you with a service. Your lazy ass could have made a sandwich at home, but instead you went out. The bill is for the supplies, the tip is because you didn't have to go back there and get it yourself.

  • Why should I pay someone's wages when that is the job of the employer?

  • @joshthegreat666 ignorant fuck,do you know how many single moms and college people trying to get by? ENJOY your food next time you visit that establishment fuckface..

  • haahaha totally dont get it, you want me to give you 20% of my bill for doing your job? im going to give you money for picking my foood up or just because u brought my food to my table? are u fucking crazy!!!! lets go for another one.... u got a problem with mcdicks now? they do the same thing u just did and u dont wanna tip for a big mac m************r.... seriously no i dont get this. im sorry but seriously if something cost 20 bucks then that should includes everything.

  • f**k tipping. want a tip..get a better F**king job

  • The problem with Government that, a problem with Government, instead of preaching to the population on how you "should" tip, write a letter to your congressman or something. I fully agree with Mr. Pink from reservoir dogs. System over hear in Europe is MUCH better. servers get a basic but nice wage and worry about tips, if they've been good and you want to give them that extra (Not because you are supposed to) then customer tips.

Don't worry I'll observe the custom when visiting USA and tip 20%

  • As I see it the people are not the problem, there's always going to be people who won't pay because the receipt says otherwise. Include the service in the receipt and problem solved. A tip was supposed to be a reward for a job well done not a reward for a job done. In my country I'd feel violated if I had to tip a rude server. And for you people ranting chill out and face that there's always gonna be assholes and people who don't know the American tipping rules idiocy. Change the system.

  • Holler girl! I get paid 3.00 an hr, and bitch wen I get no tips I'm hella pissed. Wanna know why? When I carry out ur plates, theyre so hot I get blisters on my arms and knuckles. I get taxed on the tips I make, hows that not legit? It's my income! So to all the old fuxs who come into Ihop every Monday morning, I DONT EXCEPT DIMES AS A TIP!

  • gonna have to disagree. I usually tip at a restaurant but I don't really see why it's necessary. I work in retail, do I get commission? fuck no. I'm not complaining though. I still get paid hourly. I still bust my ass just as much as a server so if your gonna tip a server, next time you ask someone to find your shoe size in some store in the mall tip that guy too you hypocritical douche.

  • I love you for this video!!!

  • that is not true..show me a manager that is willing to do that. how do you figure this?? it shouldnt matter how much they make in the end because taxes will take a whole pay check which BTW!!! is only 200.00 every two weeks!!!! if you tips are high they tax half of that..imagine working and living off that!!?? tell you what!1 yoou go serve so you know what you are taking about!!!@fml72fml

  • A lady left me 4 cents once. Her latte was $7.

  • Uh I don't tip. I don't believe in it. Don't give me that shit.. If they don't make enough money they can quit.. I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.

  • @ET310MT2 how about you dont get nooo refill then...go to mc donalds or wendys then where no one has to cater to you needs...your just a cheap douch bag

  • @SquiggalyDino nah its a quote but its true

  • Much

  • @soundlyawake thake you for telling plople thank you soooooo very

  • Well by accendent

  • Alll you out there tip your f'n waiter ples im mad now cause my mom forgot to tip a waiter !!!!!!!

  • as a server, i think i just fell in love with you =D im in cali and we make 8 bucks an hour (minimum) like you said that we get taxed on a certain percentage that the gov. thinks we are making. so if we get tipped under that percentage we loose money. if you can not afford to tip (for good service that is) then you can not afford to eat at that restraunt.

  • @cutiecalichick226 at least you get paid $8 in cali...servers in NJ get paid $2.15!!!

  • @soundlyawake that's what i got paid as a server too and i'm in kansas lol.

  • you arent very nice in this vid lol

  • @fml72fml I don't know where you're from but that is 100% not the case in New Jersey. If you made $4 all night in tips, that's what you take home but the government TAXES you as if you made 20% on each table.
