  • a shame that Frampton keeps blocking this fantastic drummer!

  • REAL MUSIC

  • you can see all the confidence and spirit that translated into Alive. I bought this album and KNEW it was great stuff.....never knowing that the Alive album would transend him to something TOO big for anyone. Same thing happened to Cheap Trick for their live album in Japan.

  • great show 25bucks lastnight at the oregon zoo :0)

  • Saw Frampton for the 1st time 2 months before this clip...July 17th, 1975 at the Casino Arena, Asbury Park, NJ. He was opening act for Joe Walsh. I was a 16 year old and I was totally blown away. Frampton tore the roof off the joint as I watched from 1st row center. It cames as no surprise to me that one year later (on the strength of Frampton Comes Alive), he hit the stratosphere. For an encore, both he and Joe Walsh jammed out on Jumping Jack Flash. Saw him live recently and he's STILL great.

  • what did he use for amps, tone is amazing on every song. I know he play's well and has nice gibby's but his amp's sound so good

  • Wow--I finally found a Peter Frampton song I actually like! (Besides "Shine On", which was actually Humble Pie). The positive, upbeat guitar riff makes me feel like I just had a good shower, sort of the same feeling I get when I hear "Turn it on Again" by Genesis

  • @notfragile33 His later stuff is far superior than his FCA era. Saw him on the 35th anniversary Tour of the album. First part of the show entirely the whole album (acceptable for the nostalgia factor) Second part consisting of more recent works (SUPERB)

  • oh man.. I almost got to hang out with them in Oakland, CA but I was too young and didn't want to miss my ride.. dam it! he was.. is.. will always be a babe!

  • I want to sleep with that white Les Paul Custom!

  • He's just about to blow up here. He and his band sound great.

  • Yes, Mr Frampton is the most underrated guitarist that I know. It´s a pity. But IMO he is among the best musicians.

Do the kids know Humble Pie? Of course they don´t.

  • @guitarandfaith I might be the first guy from Generation Z that knows good artists such as Peter Frampton.

  • Actually the best Frampton lineup was the one before - Peter-Andy Bown, keyboards, vocals; Rick Wills, bass, vocals; John Siomos (rip), drums.

Not taking away anything from Bob Mayo (rip) he was great too, but Andrew was a better fit.

  • @rockon1898 Bob Mayo was thee perfect sideman to Framps! why do you think he stayed with him for so long!

  • underrated song. I played this song to death in 75!

  • listen to some humble pie

  • artdtr,Im with you,There are no band's doing what you have watched right here

    song's filled with melody,Great CH,Edge,Fantastic solo,Structure,a look,They just

dont do this in the Rock genre, you just heard 4:30 sec of what pop music is and is

not being done anymore, this should be the template for the perfect rock/pop record.

  • I have to completely disagree that Frampton was "relatively unknown at this point." He was extremely well-known amongst Humble Pie fans, of which I had been one since '69. Both HP and PF had a huge following in California where I was at the time... The fact that a live version of this song was included in the re-release of FCA along with others like 'White Sugar' was testament to the fact that NO one but a George Harrison was going to get to release a triple-album (ATMP) on vinyl....

  • it's great music! i'm brazilian. i like of peter frampton...

    beautiful

  • Really great to have SOME footage from this period of Peters' 'moment!

  • Peter Frampton is on Facebook. He personally updates his status daily, sometimes a couple of times a day. And his updates are hilarious and adorable. Just an FYI.

  • @BettinaBalser Even MORE reason for me to finally open a Facebook Acct! LOL I remember seeing him at an outdoor show in Lake Tahoe in the late 90's with my girlfriend. We had such a great time! Definitely worth the 4 hr drive from San Jose! Peace! -Dave

  • What a trip to see this again!

  • Saw him do this on tour a year later.

His flame burned so bright and burned out so quickly.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • He opened for the Doobie Brothers in Cincy, Oct. 75. My friend Jay and I were hip to all his studio albums and were right up front. He got a decent reception. Forward to Summer of 76 when he returned. He was the headliner.

  • Do u guys got some information about " Framton Comes Alive" ? for example Where was it or which year. Can i find some DVD about that concert ?

    Thank u guys ...

  • @765tony DITTO*********** Nessuno capisce, ad occhi aperti' "Chin Chin" Chente Anni Salute Ciao:)*:)

  • Happy Birthday ******Peter Frampton*******

You will always be a *best to me always*******

Hope one of these days I get to see you live******

That would be one of my dreams come true*****

Nowwhere's to far for my baby, it's making me cry:(:(

    Smile & Peace

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER you beautiful guitar genius!! 22/4

  • Oh, take me back. I know every line, every stroke of his guitar. Frampton is the greatest !!!

  • does anybody have the tabs for this song?? thanks

  • great song

  • the intro sounds like mellencamp's "i need a lover" except the difference is that this is a trillion times better

  • it's such a shame that artists such as frampton, meat loaf, carole king to name a few only had one album that associates them as a name. more people should get behind the back wall and dig up gems like this

  • "Does it come in a lett-ah, to make you feel bett-ah" LOVE the adorable accent!!!

  • That was the 70's,subdued and chill man..:)

  • Well, you have to remember, this was before FCA came out, so Frampton was still relatively unknown at this point. That probably has something to do with the 'light' audience reaction.......

  • I used to be soo in love with him!

  • I just wanna jump into a time machine the '70's , and NEVER EVER COME BACK. Zep,Frampton,Nugent,Heart,Jethro Tull, Kansas, Genesis, Pink Floyd , zz top, Eagles , Skynyrd, Neil Young, Clapton .. and so many others just PURE and TALENTED musicians on stage, not the manufactured synythesized Crap they peddle to us today.

  • @jd426999 I agree wholeheartledly!! These kids missed the greatest rock era ever! Well when it was happening anyway!!

  • Comment removed

  • damn straight and i'm only 20

  • @jd426999 I sooo agree with you,Peter Frampton and every other

70's musicians ,They are time less, (Rock on for ever)*********

    Smile & Peace

  • Don't leave Aerosmith out of it!

  • im 32 years old...i grew up on Frampton...thanks to my dad....love it..this is buy far my fav frampton tune.

  • Thanks for posting this great rock and roll song.

    Frampton does come alive!!

  • gibson les paul in the hands of one of the best.

  • this guy is pritty sweet

  • He really love guitars with three pickups.

I really like Peter Framptons playing style but it´s a little sad that he is so underrated as a guitar player I mean he did a great job in Humble pie and Fingerprints is just brilliant.

  • dude this is amazing

  • man im gonna meet him someday he literally lives down the street from me

  • yes yes. in a class of his own111111

  • oh yea

  • Frampton will ALWAYS be cool! With Humble Pie at 16, then on to a stellar solo career, he is one of Rock's GREATEST!!!

  • His energy is so great, and so positive...I am sorry that for the most part he has been forgotten. He deserved to have a career as big as Eric Clapton's.

  • Oh, don't even get me STARTED on how overrated Clapton is!!! I'll say this now as I have before on YouTube (with ALL positive replies I might add) there is absolutely NO aspect of Clapton's playing that is better than Peter's. Not only that, but Eric (much like Santana too) has been playing the same scale for his solos since about 1967. Wow! REAL inventive man! Peter has much more musical knowledge, and is well-rounded, unlike Clapton. Eric hasn't done a goddamn worthy thing since Cream.

  • I find Clapton boring. He is a good guitarist but he has no "Joie devievre" Frampton plays with PASSION and you feel it. Plus i just have never cared for Clapton's sound. To me his guitar sounds thin. Frampton has such a recognizable sound. Really his own signature. That black les paul has its signature. Yeah I am a Frampton fan!!

  • @borntorun1970 Pretty much every guitarist you pick is goign to have about 3 scales they play and thats it, but most listeners dont give a shit its the music they heard that they care about

  • @borntorun1970 I would have to agree. Clapton was the man for a bit, but Players like Peter bridged the gap from the Claptonesque blues style players to the more modern players that followed in the latter 70's. Peter is at home being blues based, or more modern styles as well. A very well rounded player and song writer

  • @borntorun1970 You just went off the Ricter scale, pal. What about Dereck and The Dominoes?

  • @candelise Look, I'm not saying Eric Clapton doesn't deserve a place in Music History, I'm just saying that his guitar playing and especially his incredibly erratic songwriting quality over the years leaves me COMPLETELY underwhelmed. And as I said in my last comment, just like Santana, he literally has been playing the same solo since the late 60's. Look at Jeff Beck from the same time period as Eric and how innovative he is by comparison.

  • @borntorun1970 I don't really need the knowledge on the why and what nots of Clapton's erratic songwriting, playing etc. You said he did nothing after Cream. I said that the Domiones period was a productive period for him which came AFTER Cream, DUH!. Apart from that band and their 'Layla' album, you had the '461' album which was pretty good too! Yakking about anything else simply left the point.

  • @candelise Well as someone who doesn't just shoot my mouth off without backing it up, I felt the need to give examples of what I said about Clapton. I don't hate the guy, in fact he seems incredibly humble. I'm just speaking a musician and music lover, he is not even CLOSE to being as well-rounded, passionate or inventive as Frampton. Such a shame that someone like Peter (not that he cares) plays small gigs and Eric passes gas and receives a Grammy Award. Eric's not even as good as Neal Schon!

  • @borntorun1970 You mentioned 'What, after Cream? I responded to that ONLY!!

  • @candelise Ok, I'll stop dissing Eric now. He's a good chap and has earned a rightful place in music history. Let's focus on how incredible Peter is from now on. I guess sometimes I get bitter because I have seen so many incredible musicians locally in the Bay Area that would knock peoples socks off if only they had a chance. And NO, I'm NOT a bitter musician! lol I am happy to by myself after a long day at work or with friends for fun. Peace! -Dave

  • @borntorun1970 I am sure that there are many hot musicians you see that you think deserve a break, huh? A combination of luck, talent and drive is what mostly results in big time commercial success as I'm sure you know. All talent but no drive, all drive but no talent, all talent and drive but no luck etc. That is life, I am afraid. Look at Frampton: talent, drive(all those dates!) and the fortune of a manager that pushed him and his name across the land.

  • @borntorun1970 Um ... hello!! If i'm not mistaken i'd say "Layla" was a pretty big track! I actually love what he did in Blind Faith also, and he has some great early solo stuff! He was never a technical player but who cares .....

  • @borntorun1970 You must not be a guitar player yourself - "Eric (much like Santana too) has been playing the same scale for his solos since about 1967" - so has every other Blues guitar player. All Blues players including Clapton, SRV, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, etc., have been, and continue to play variations on the same scales, e.g. B Blues scale, C Blues scale, E Blues scale, G Blues scale, etc. Every Blues guitar solo ever played is based upon one or more of the above-mentioned scales.

  • @borntorun1970 lmao @ hating on one of the greatest guitarists of our time...maybe you're like me and are not a huge fan of the blues style of play for which Mr Clapton is so well known. I assure you, the man has a great deal of talent, just talent you can't appreciate.

  • @borntorun1970 You're not entirely wrong, but the REAL question is why you feel a need to put him down?! A) He's an excellent songwriter in a variety of styles, B) In his early day he was a guitar pioneer who contributed permanently to rock history/development, C) He has one of the best voices of any "Rock God" of the past 40 years, D) He contributed GREATLY to others artists' music (Harrison/Starr/many others), E)Endured heroin addiction/personal tragedy/being called "God". What's your PROBLEM?

  • @borntorun1970 Here are my theories (b/c you're pissing me off). Either A) Your father loves Clapton, & you don't get along w/him so take it out on Eric, B) You're a musician yourself, unsuccessful & completely unknown (& bitter about it), and/or C) You STILL haven't learned that MUSIC IS NOT A COMPETITION, it's about EXPRESSION! After having "CLAPTON IS GOD" written on walls, etc, maybe he needed a BREAK from the limelight & GOT OVER HIMSELF!! I LOVE his 70s work-great albums eg 461 Ocean Blvd!

  • @borntorun1970 But I agree that much of Framptons work, like this song, tends to be a lot more melodic, & less restricted to blues riffs. I just DON'T respect the fact that you're attacking, in such a DISRESPECTFUL way, someone who was a legend/pioneer (whether YOU like it or not- there MUST be a reason Cream/Blind Faith had such huge followings), was addicted to heroin & tortured by abandonment demons (related to his mother), & was probably (understandably) overwhelmed by fame-& humble about it

  • I saw him play this in Cincy in October 75. Doesn't really play this.

  • nice f=ing guitar

  • Boy can work some SATIN__

  • Peter was a Hottie McHotterson!

  • While In the middle of studying the early Philosopher's who shaped many current ideas, this was a perfect intermission! School sucks but, Frampton helped me out! Thanks for the post.

  • He was the soundtrack to my school days as well. Would never get through homework without Pete in the background.

  • I can' wait to see him this August!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • rollin a Doob on the cover of this was Mandatory.....COOL

  • Loved comes alive so much , bought all the earlier albums , and all the later as well .I think I have about 15 .They all have great tunes

  • Frampton is just all kinds of awesome!! = D

  • Great !!!

  • Peter Frampton is a rocker for sure i born in 64.

  • he was soooooooo much better during this period and before, trust me, i saw him during the humble pie years and this is the true energy of Peter, long before the fake perm, talkbox, and satin pants.

he always had the mafia manager though!!!!

  • He still looks hell of good now.. even with no hair.. adorable. that song Lying.. is another great tune!!"

  • "Somebody tell me... what I am doing here... well.. I could be happy...don't leave me alone... " great shit... dude..

  • Whoooaaaa.. this truly is one of the best songs... I was born in '61.. ouch.. I know.. but he was a big thing to me in the 70's....

  • Pete is a better guitar player now than he was back then. He has lost the hair and the groupies and the good looks, but he stillseems to have a glow about him. He also lives in Cincinnatti Ohio from what I have read and lives a very down to earth life. Good for him. Let the Gene Simmons, and Ozzie Osborns be the media clowns. Frampton was it for a few years back in the mid 70's and somehow walked away from it still a down to earth guy...

  • Best guitar tone in Rock. If it's not cool to

get off on this, I don't wanna be cool. Listen to this mother f** play. He's the

best all around musician in the biz.

  • Absolutely Southie657...Frampton was the man back when I was 11 in '76...however I grew up in Dot and you know Dot rules haha!

  • Much agreement to the point that this blows away anything done today. Peter was under rated. One of THE best performers ever.

  • This is really great to watch! So glad it was posted. He's my favorite of all time.

  • I always thought this was Happy Time Rock. There is no negativity in Frampton's music. Just joyous, youthful, naive, living in the here-and-now.

  • This blows away anything, ANYTHING, done musically today.

  • Now now, remember we have 'American Idol'! :) ( I agree with you 1000%; this entire time period was magical & will never be repeated ever again. I'm glad that I was able to experience it 1st hand....

  • @artdrtr If you really feel that way then you are either out of touch or listening to too much FM radio.

There has always been shit music and there will always be good music. We just enjoyed a golden period up until the 80s when half of the music on radio was pretty good. Remember that classic rock radio doesn't play the worst of yesterday, they play the "your favorite hits" of yesterday. If Radio played Billboard 200 from 1975 you'd get a whiff of some vintage crap too.

  • This is an ultra rare shot of Peter with the white Les Paul Custom. I saw a giant poster of him back in the seventies with that guitar and his white Marshall amps but the picture was developed in reverse. It looked like he was playing left handed! Should have grabbed it!

  • Hey guys - I was there that night!! right in front. Talked to Peter & the band after

    what a cool night!!! MLC

  • I keep coming back to this one, it's one of my favourite Peter Frampton vids...love you, Peter!

  • This is so unforgettable! He is beautiful, and oh man, that voice and that guitar! He's the whole package. Love him.

  • I LOVE HIS GUITAR TONE!!

I can almost get it on my Laney amp, but it's just not the same.

  • you need a leslie rotating speaker cabnet ,the essential key to his sound

  • Great post. I used to have the Frampton album but had forgotten this track until now. Thanks for reminding me.

  • Great presence, voice, hair, guitar tone and melodies. The quintessential 70's concert god.

  • This is a brilliant video, it's a great song and Peter is utterly gorgeous! I love the fact that he really enjoys playing and never stops dancing with that guitar. He's beautiful, and so sexy!

  • Welcome to my world Babytiger28!!

  • This was one of my favorite songs of the "Frampton" album. My friend and I saw him in 75 in Cincy and he played this. Thanks!

  • Thanks for posting this. Been looking for this one!

  • is it wrong that i want to nail this guy? how hot is he? and his voice i swear if i woke up with that i'd make him sing the soundtrack to my life everyday ala peter griffin :D

  • I do not remember 1975 too clearly being so young at the time, but I remember Peter!!!!!

  • I packed up my Pony--an loaded my Sony....
