  • I know a way that you can easily take out a Vaygr Battlecruiser, but this only works when the Battlecruiser is alone or has a small escort, as this maneuver is easily countered if it has a shit ton of support.

Order some ion frigates to attack the missile launcher. Watch as the BC turns itself nearly vertical. It's hilarious. Then have your BCs and Destroyers finish it off. The Vaygr BC won't be able to turn it's big ass gun at you.

  • Bombers good for clean subsystems, but they are weak versus ints. For destroying subsystems swarm of interceptors is better (ten squadrons is enough) cause they are more universally than bomber. But you must be careful, clever vaygr player should use scouts EMP for disable and destroying your ints.

  • why do the hiigaran Battlecruisers suck so badly?

  • @qwerty200ful the vaygr BC fucks up whatever is in front of it, the hig BC has a much easier time taking out frigates.

  • I miss the HW1 ICFs, they had awesome firepower and could take a hit-or-two from cap ship Sooooooo many balance issues with HW2 that it saddens me.

  • If you play multiplayer message me

  • LOL, I found myself flipping the mouse wheel while watching this video!

I guess old habits die hard...

  • i think this BC's weak spot is the lack of antifighter escort :)

  • @kreezt So you were planning on defeating Ion Cannon Frigates with Interceptors?

  • @Ascensiam no but if you had interceptors you could of defeated the bombers before they destroyed the missile launchers

  • @Ascensiam yeah because in soviet russia interceptors pwn battlecruisers

  • @Ascensiam Ion frigates have almost no antifighter weaponry, and are ineffective against fighters

  • @TheLordofError interceptors have almost no firepower, and are ineffective against armor

  • @Ascensiam Bombers or lance fighters are the way to go there.

  • @Ascensiam that is reason why we have bomber class. however, i am having trouble to categories vaygr lancer fighter. the manual classifies VLF as anti-corvette class. however, some players claim it is a multi-purpose fighter. they say fighter and frigate are also in its menu. can one of HW2 hardcore player give me a straight answer?

  • @loveryoda They are best versus corvettes overall, but the increased damage output of their lasers, to kill the corvettes, is high enough to have an effect against frigates in numbers, they are not efficiently fast, but they can take out frigates that are not anti fighter before support can arrive, they can also destroy fighters on one shot, but only if they hit, which is about 30%, making them only a little less effective than anti-fighter fighters, they are versatile indeed.

  • @thinbear4, I think it's the solar winds

  • By the way, how come it still moved backwards with disabled engines?

  • i have no idea, a bug is most likely.

  • @Ascensiam I found out how, on forums. It's the ion cannon's effect. In HW2 ion cannons are attracting anything they hit. Try firing 30 ion frigates at a destroyer, you will see, they will pull it towards themselves :)

  • @ThinBear4 That is most interesting, but, then again, it would be logical, ion beams should be emitting an electro-magnetic field, which attracts the metal in the hull.

  • my strategy to destroy a vaigr battlcruiser........

    1. I look at the ship and send a strike team... 10 squadrons of bombers, and target the engines, when the engines are weaker i warp ion frigates (or a destroyed) to finish the engines,

    2. After the engines are destroyed is easy.....the ship cant move,so now i target the rocket launchers and at final i finish the ship with interceptors and frigates

  • the handy thing is that in the middle of a big fight, attack moving to the underneath will keep the battlecruisers from landing with the bic cannon, though the missiles are still an issue.

  • It's smart to also take out the engines. This way it cannot use it's ''badass'' gun. Take out the engines make it unable to turn.

  • You can still kill it without engines disabled, you'd just need to be quick.

  • i fight fire with fire ^_^

  • Not bad, but your fire still demands a shipyard and 4000 RU's

  • true. thats why i get 6 squads of intercepters and bombers to keep in the fight and keep up with the production

  • Yeah. The trinity cannon requires this whole monster to turn, so it's pretty easy to avoid it with smaller ships.

Even the most powerful ship isn't worth a penny without strategy.

  • See, I bet you coulda destroyed that battle cruiser faster with your bombers.

But yeah, that strategy is about the only way to beat the second to last level when the Vaygr bum rush you with like 6-9 battlecruisers. If you don't take out their engines, then they will bring their frontal mounted fuck-you-in-the-ass-guns "FYITAG" to bear and shred your fleet.

  • Although Bombers have a high efficiency against Battlecruisers, the Vaygr Battlecruiser have hull gun defense like a carrier. They would have been killed.

    Also, Ion frigs save time.

  • 6-9? Lucky. All my frigates were Torpedo frigs and all my corvettes were pulsars, so I got about 12, with a ton of destroyers. Frackin enemy fleet adaptation.
