Does any one know how many more years will it take for the city of Prypiat to be safe enough to live there again? I will have to look it up on Wikipeadia as it may have such answers. So sad to abandon a city and the many who died who lived there. How is it that the trees and plants survive in that area? A reply from any of you would be appreciated.

2:00 - Heavens. 3000 mSv/h is quite dangerous to the cells in your body. I hope you were only there for a matter of minutes. Stay there too long and you might very well develop radiation poisoning with cell destruction & cancer. What's more frightening, is that it's completely invisible.

Keep in mind that you get the same dose of radiation when you get 10 seconds x-rayed or flying 12 hours in 10km height.

question, But isnt the RADIATION very LETHAL, Dosent it already disturb your body as soon as the GAMMA RAYS hit your body, and also what is the minimum level for RADIATION, to be harmful to you?

@TopLeadGamers it depends on what radiation there is and for how long see alpha rays is the most dangerous its about 20x more dangerous than beta or gamma rays and it would disturb your body if you stayed there for a while, other people said that only guide man could leave car for a little and that doesn't do harm for him (a lot) so the longer you stay in highly radiated place the worse you ill get

If you get X-Rayed you get 10time higher radiation! So it depends on how long you stay in this area. In every other place in chernobyl, we could get out of the car and walk around. But in Red Forest we have to stay in the car and only the guide get a short time out.

1:54... 10 mR arent 10 mSv... 10 mR would be 0,1 mSv, or 100 µSv. Really much, but nothing compared to 10 mSv/h.

@Doppelbuckel Yeah later i recognized, that I was wrong. The dosimeter of the russian guide shows mikroR and our dosimeters shows mikroS, so i mix that up...
