I'm curious, I have heard slot of people say that the dry cabin air will make your skin bad-in the long run,as a FA. Is that true? How do you prevent it??
@080730U I think it really just depends on the individual. I've seen some girls who have been flying for 50 years that have amazing skin. My skin is never dry... only my hands from the terrible soap being that I constantly wash my hands during a flight. They do sell products at Mac to mist on your face and neck to rejuvinate your make up and moisten your skin. Kinda awesome. For my cracking hands I use Bag Balm... totally extreme but I LOVE it.
Is it too risky to take a sleeping pill? I start training in a couple of weeks, and i have to say...i'm a girl who likes her sleep, and I'm gonna want at least 6 of those 9 hours to pass out! lol
ah yes. the inevitable flight attendants are stupid comment. any facts to back that up? i've been flying 15 years and have yet to meet a "dumb" flight attendant. in fact, as a result of such a flexible and varied schedule many flight attendants go to school and are able to explore any number of other interests while still flying a full schedule. that sounds pretty smart to me.
nice vid, rubberduckytoes. i especially like the cool soundtrack (:-)
@knucklepunt I never said she was dumb. I said she was too smart because it does seem to me that a job as a flight attendant seems by far not versatile enough to an obviously versatile person as she is. How about you putting stereotypes in other people's mouth? Moron.
@xomileyfan1xo hahaha i'm a sleeper too, i completely understand. Now I just sleep for 14 in one day and then 3 hours one day, 7 another. It's random but it all adds up
you're too smart to be a flight attendant - or to put it better - too widely interested - if you wouldn't be, you'd probably just drop all the things you say you have to do and rather get some sleep. look for another job - or drop all but the yoga!
@simonborn This is only a bit of what I do. I have a million hobbies! What's dumb about being a flight attendant? I get paid to fly everywhere, meet cool people and I can still do all the things I like and me and my parents and boyfriend fly for FREE!
too bad the pay is really bad! don t understand why since we have to do so many interviews, exams, medicals... intensif training for several weeks and need to pass with 85-90%. don t understand it s pretty disappointing i just did interviews today for this airline here in canada and passed all the interviews, language tests... they gave me an appointment for medical... but at the end when they gave me this paper with salary info i was " in my head so disappointed" :(

well thanks for answering. How many languages you have to talk to work in an international airline, and what studies are needed? You did your study? Do you recommend be flight attendant?
@FerdinandDreizk you don't have to know any languages but it does help. you go to flight attendant school through the airline once you are hired. I recommend flight attendant to anyone looking for adventure that doesnt like 9-5 jobs at a desk. You will never be bored at this job! :)
@rubberduckytoes Thank you, yes I love this job since I was a child (6 or 7 years) I traveled to Germany, I visited the Fraport :D in Franckfort main :D, cause i have an uncle in Austria, I'll learn german and i want to learn french too, but it's more :S,
Well i went to the Mexico city airport and i saw all the flight attendants, but i didn't see from Delta, i just saw lufthansa, air france, mexicana airlines and aeromexico, i wanna be Mexicana Airlines and after Delta.

Wow! great video! Im actually thinking about becoming a flight attendant, but all that training seems a little... intimidating.. Do you think it is a good career to get into? And is training that harsh??
I hate sob stories like this...sure the short layovers stink..but with preferencial bidding, I haven't seen anything under 16 hours in years...and I think I'm as junior as you are..wait a minute..I'm guessing you are on the Panama trip or Carracas..in that case, yeah, that's a rough one.. but the job IS GLAMOUROUS...Nothing can touch it..
yea preferential bidding doesnt really exist at my seniority. i get what i get. i didnt even hold spanish this month... and yes this is the panama layover with the penalty lap on the back of it. one of the worst layover... along with caracas, yes. LOL
our job is not glamourous at all . i work for qantas, i am very well looked after and paid well . that is the glamour aspect of my job, not the job itself . its more than hard work . cheers from australia .
Sorry planes, at Delta we have always been taken care of, like royalty, from our Airline...and all without a Union. Hope it stays that way w/ the merger of Northwest...as long as we don't vote yes to a union, I can see a happy future....thank you for your hard work...we used to code share w/ ya'll years ago...Quantas has a great rep! Cheers to you too!!
I'm 5'3". I wore heals for the interview... but I've met quite a few flight attendants who are shorter. At 5'3" I find it hard to reach all of the overhead bins... specifically on the center aisles of the Boeing 767 when they are full... Other than that... 5'3" is a good height I think. :)
I was 5'3" when I was hired. Thanks to yoga, I'm almost 5'4" now. And I just stand on the edge of the seat to close the center bins on the 767 and the 777. People find it amusing. ;-)
I give you a lot of credit. Exercise, dinner and studies? On South America, I walk in the door, strip off the blues, pop out the contacts and fall in the bed. If I'm lucky, someone hot is lurking under it! Ah, who am I kidding? There's no energy left for that. ;-)
I try so hard to excercise, eat right and excercise my brain... i don't wanna be a senior mama still flying at 80... i'd like to have some other kind of life and still have my figure. :) sometimes though there just isn't energy and i flop into bed without doing anything. lol
Oh, I couldn't agree more! I do not want to be flying when my boobs are hangin' to the floor. Ha! I'm shooting for early retirement at 55. I've got another career going and hope it will fill the gap. Trying to keep vital and alive here in Texas!
I live in Austin, fly for AA out of DFW. Flying EZE (double all-nighter) in May and will have those lovely 10 hour layovers. At least the beds are comfy and the hotel's nice. That's about all I'll see. Alas, the trip is worth 21 hrs flying time, so I can't complain.
Nice! I'm in San Antonio. I've had EZE on my schedule twice but never been there. I like flying the all nighters to get a long layover. I grew up in Chile though so its kinda a rival to want to go to Argentina. LOL But I'd love to go to at least say I've been.
Well, hello neighbor! I love EZE, but our layover is so short that I have to give up sleep to go out and see anything. There's a great dentist there that a lot of the flight attendants go to for cosmetic work...or is he in Sao Paulo?? There's a good plastic surgeon in EZE, too, but I'm not ready for that sort of drastic measure. One day...maybe. ;-) We used to have long layovers in Santiago and Sao Paulo, and f/as would actually get work done on their layovers! Crazy!
our FAs get all their botox and teeth done in LIMA! I dont think i'd try anything that drastic either but definitely not there. :) I havent done sao paulo but i have done rio and they all have fabulous teeth! :)
We used to fly to Lima out of DFW. That was a great trip! I loved the markets and used to bid that in November so I could get my Christmas shopping done. I have a fab painting hanging over my bed that I schepped back from Lima. The baggage handlers broke the frame, but it still looks great. Just got back from Frankfurt...nice layover. We stay in Mainz and they have a terrific old town. Everything is in bloom there, now and, even in the rain, it was beautiful! London on Monday...
Moscow! Wow! We don't have any routes to Russia. I was watching a program on WWII and the role Russia played...well, the photography on Moscow was gorgeous. (Oh, London was great! Saw Judy Dench in "Madame du Sade"...fab!) Do something fun in Moscow and then write me all about it.
MOSCOW was amazing! I just posted the video of it... I am on call today... and guess where they called me?! EZE!!! I'm so excited! I have a 35 hr layover there and my sisters in-laws live there... so I have tour guides. :)
Okay, where do I find the video. This I gotta see! Great news about going to EZE. Our layovers have shrunk to about 10 hours or less due to delays into EZE...ugh. Doesn't help that I'm flying with a...mmm, shall we say, er, not too motivated, not too friendly purser? I'm the first class galley (doing the cooking, set up...) and working with someone so lazy and pushy is just, well, less than ideal. Fortunately, I only have one more trip with her this month. I'm off to London in June...weee!
Haha awesome! Oh Nice uniform :) Delta! Booya! I can't wait to work for them!!!
Have you met Kat Lee? She's fantastic. J/w
Haha, life is oh-so glamorous flying, isn't it?! I especially like the part about "checking to make sure no one's lurkin' under the bed". thanks for the cool vid!
I love Delta. I am sorry that you don't get a longer layover. Girl I can't wait to work there one day. Have you Meet Kat? She is super! ok Enjoy your layovers!

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do people want to be a flight attendants?
(2) Why do jobs related to aviation considered to be more professional?
(3) Why do we love being in the sky?
(4) How does being a flight attentdent benefit to our personal life?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

I have also a job with layovers. But I don't spend my time doing excercises or watching TV - I sleep.
